N A R R AT O R 1
In an upper room in Jerusalem, the Savior met with His twelve disciples as He
prepared to perform His atoning sacrifice. They ate together, and then He lov-
ingly washed their feet. He expressed His love and concern for each of them
and then looked on them and said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”1
N A R R AT O R 2
In just a few words, the Savior simply explained how we show our love for Him
and our Heavenly Father: keep the commandments.
N A R R AT O R 3
We can tell people we love them all we want, but the true demonstration of
our love comes in our actions. If we want our Heavenly Father and His Son to
know we love Them, we will heed Their invitation to come, follow Them, and
walk in Their footsteps.

N A R R AT O R 4
Sometimes it can feel as if there are so many commandments that we can-
not keep track of them all. In an attempt to trap the Savior, one lawyer asked,
“Master, which is the great commandment in the law?”2
N A R R AT O R 5
Jesus answered with typical clarity: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all
thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great
commandment.”3
N A R R AT O R 6
Our loving Heavenly Father did not give us this commandment to bless Him-
self; He gave it to bless us!
N A R R AT O R 7
As President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said: “No, God does not need us to love Him.
But oh, how we need to love God!
“For what we love determines what we seek.
“What we seek determines what we think and do.
“What we think and do determines who we are—and who we will become.”4
N A R R AT O R 8
It is easy to love someone who loves us so much. As John the Beloved said,
“We love him, because he first loved us.”5 As we feel our Savior’s love, it cre-
ates in us a love for Him. The more we feel His love, the more we love Him
and the more we will desire to follow Him and give all our life to Him.

N A R R AT O R 9
The second great commandment “is like unto [the first], Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself.”6
N A R R AT O R 10
The more we love God, the more we will love others. John the Beloved said:
“If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth
not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not
seen?
“And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his
brother also.”7
TESTIMONY 1
Share examples of how loving others has blessed your life and brought you
closer to Heavenly Father. Or think of a time when you felt Heavenly Father’s
love because another person showed you love.

N A R R AT O R 11
Sometimes we may feel that commandments limit us and prevent us from do-
ing what we want. However, King Benjamin reminded us to “consider on the
blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For
behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they
hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they
may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness.”8
N A R R AT O R 12
The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that obeying God’s commandments will lead
to “a fulness of joy and happiness.”9
N A R R AT O R 13
President Russell M. Nelson has said: “Keeping divine commandments brings
blessings, every time! Breaking divine commandments brings a loss of bless-
ings, every time!”10
TESTIMONY 2
Share how keeping the commandments blesses you, gives you peace, and
makes you happy.

“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his com-
mandments are not grievous.”11
N A R R AT O R 15
Grievous means heavy or burdensome. Heavenly Father doesn’t want us to
just keep the commandments; He wants us to keep the commandments
because we want to. In fact, how we keep the commandments is the way we
show Heavenly Father how we feel about Him.
N A R R AT O R 16
The Savior said, “I do always those things that please [the Father].”12 If we love
God, we will love others. If we love God, we will keep His commandments. If
we love God, we will keep His commandments because we want to please
Him. If we love God, we will show Him.
TESTIMONY 3

N A R R AT O R 17
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland also taught about what we can do to show our love to
God: “‘If ye love me, keep my commandments,’ Jesus said. So we have neigh-
bors to bless, children to protect, the poor to lift up, and the truth to defend.
We have wrongs to make right, truths to share, and good to do. In short, we
have a life of devoted discipleship to give in demonstrating our love of the
Lord.”13
TESTIMONY 4
Share your love for Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
