Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in improving
educational conditions as perceived by Grade 7 student-beneficiaries at Guimbal National High School.
The independent variables of the study were sex, family size and family type, while the effectiveness of
Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in improving educational conditions serves as the dependent
variable. Evaluation method of research was employed. Respondents of this investigation were the 87
out of 110 Grade 7 student-beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program chosen through
stratified random sampling technique. The researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather data
regarding of the respondents’ perception in terms of school participation and attendance, educational
access and equity and personal motivational factors. To analyse and interpret gathered data, percentage,
mean and standard deviation were used as descriptive statistical tools, while t-Test for two independent
samples and ANOVA set at 0.05 alpha level of significance level were used as inferential statistical tools
processed through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Results revealed that respondents,
when taken as an entire group, found the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program as very effective in
improving educational conditions. When classified according to sex, both male and female respondents
found the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program as effective in improving their educational conditions. In
terms of the program’s specific indicators, such as increased school participation and attendance,
educational access and equity and personal motivational benefits, respondents indicated that the program
was very effective. When grouped according to family type, respondents from single parent families
found the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program as effective in improving their educational conditions,
while those from nuclear families and extended families both indicated that the program was very
effective in improving their educational conditions. Furthermore, t-Test results revealed a high significant
difference in the effectiveness of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in improving educational
conditions when respondents were categorized according to sex, thus rejecting the null hypothesis.
However, no significant difference was observed in the effectiveness of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino
Program in improving educational conditions when respondents were grouped according to family size,
retaining the null hypothesis. In addition, ANOVA results revealed that a significant difference existed in
the effectiveness of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in improving educational conditions when
respondents were categorized according to family type, thus rejecting the null hypothesis.
