Community Performances and Partnerships Program

CPP Ensemble Fellowship

In 2019-2020, a select number of ensembles will be chosen to participate in the Community Performances and
Partnerships (CPP) Ensemble Fellowship Program. Through this fellowship, ensembles will work with CPP staff members
to design a 45-minute interactive program that will be performed in 4-8 community venues throughout Boston during
the spring semester of 2020. Each group may contain 3-5 people in any chamber music combination. Vocal ensembles
and jazz groups are eligible for this fellowship and encouraged to apply.

1. Responsibilities of CPP Fellowship Ensembles: Ensembles participating in this program will perform 4-8 programs in
community settings during the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. Generally, an ensemble will
create a program that is suitable for a particular audience and will perform that program in numerous
appropriate settings. These may include performances in schools, senior centers, libraries and other community
venues. The interests of the ensemble can help to shape the type of program performed. Performances will be
scheduled throughout the semester. If scheduling does not allow for this to occur, ensembles may take the option of
creating an intensive “outreach” week at the end of the semester in which they perform several programs within a
short period of time. In addition to community performances, ensembles will be required, as a prerequisite to the
CPP Ensemble Fellowship, to register for Community Engagement for Ensembles (CHM 582T), a seven-week course
offered for 0-1 credits during the spring semester of 2020. The class takes place on Tuesdays from 2:00-3:50pm
on the following dates: January 21st and 28th, February 4th, 11th, and 25th, and March 3th and 10th. Ensembles
should not apply for the fellowship if they are unable to participate in the CPP Seminar.
**Please note: Fellows are also expected to attend fellowship meetings and workshops to be held throughout the year.

2. Compensation: For participation in this program, each CPP Fellow will be paid an honorarium of $300-$600,
depending on the number of completed community performances. This will be paid in one installment at the end of
the spring 2019 semester.

3. Eligibility: All members of the CPP Fellowship Ensembles must be full time NEC students during the spring of 2020.
Honors Ensembles are eligible to apply, although ensembles that are not currently participating in the Honors
Ensemble Program will be given preference. All members of the ensemble must be able to attend the 7-session CPP
Chamber Music Seminar. **Please note: Ensembles that have participated in a CPP Ensemble Fellowship in the past are
eligible to reapply to the program, and can have their participation in the CPP course waived.

4. Application Process: All interested ensembles must fill out the attached application (due by Tuesday, October 29th
at 5:00pm), attend an interview at which all members must be present, and sign a contract upon acceptance into
the program.
