Activity 2.1 Insight and Reflection Writing

1. Do you think we need to practice critical thinking all the time? Why or why not?

For me, yes, because critical thinking is very useful in our everyday life especially
when it comes to decision making and evaluating arguments. Critical thinking allows us
to take control of our thinking rather than letting it become hijacked by convenience,
mindset, assumptions, and bias. Practicing our critical thinking improves our reasoning
with the greatest clarity and precision.

1. What are the examples of instances where we need to practice critical thinking? And
what are the examples of instances where we should not, need not, practice critical
thinking?

One of the instances wherein we need to practice critical thinking is when

choosing reliable sources in the internet. Because not all given information in the
internet are true. So in choosing liable sources we use our critical thinking. Critical
thinking comprises the core critical thinking skills wherein we apply these skills in
inferring, interpreting, analyzing, evaluating, explaining, and regulating one’s reasoning
of the data. And For me, there are no instances wherein we should not need to practice
critical thinking because critical thinking is very important in decision making and we
always make decisions in life.

Activity 2.3 Insight and Reflection Writing

Based on my everyday life experience, it seems clear to me that I am always applying

these core critical thinking skills whenever I read or get information. I don’t just simply accept
whatever information I receive. It undergoes a logical thinking process through what we call
critical thinking. And by means of critical thinking, there are skills which I intended to use to
arrive at correct reasoning. Interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, explanation and self-
regulation are very important core critical thinking skills that would aid in the process of correct
thinking, the arrival of truth and in the evaluation of truth.
