 Media industry has a huge canvas. Writing is central to all media


industries.

 Writing is the mark of a well-educated person.

 Writing is a powerful activity. The ability to control and articulate


ideas and information gives you power over what other people know
and think about.

WEB WRITING

Before getting down to writing for the web, we should have an understanding
of how audience use the web content. Users do not read on the web, instead
they scan the pages, trying to pick out a few sentences or even parts of
sentences to get the information they want and users do not like long, scrolling
pages.

Criteria of Web Writing

Text should be concise.

Text should be scannable.

Bulleted items.

Hypertext is well inked

Graphics and text should complement one another

Credible content creation


How social media is being used as a media tool

Social Media is reaching to those mass where TV, Radio and even Newspapers
is unable to reach.

Social Media is using traditional media tool of two way communication.

Eg: Facebook-live, Instant Like, Instant Comment

Personal Connection (Eg: Citizen Journalism)

Sense of Satisfaction

Principles of Effective Social Media Writing - Creating Content

Social media content should be:

 Relevant, useful, and interesting

 Easy to understand and share

 Friendly, conversational, and engaging

 Action-oriented

Your target audience can receive multiple messages from multiple sources
every day, try to make your messages relevant, useful, and interesting so your
audience will interact and be engaged.

Remember the 3 E’s

The best way to engage your fans is to make sure your post falls into one of 3
categories –the 3 E’s:

Entertain: If your post is either funny or entertaining in some way, it will get
shared more.
Educate: When you educate your audience about your niche or provide
a helpful tip, your post will perform better.

Experience: If you provide some type of experience – you move your


audience emotionally, then your post will get more comments, likes, and
shares.
