Transmission And Transfer Gears

SMCS - 3150-11; 3150-12

Remove Transmission From Transfer Gear Case

start by:

a) remove transmission and transfer gears from engine

1. Remove the cover (1) for the transmission control valve.

2. Remove the suction screen (2) for the oil pump.

3. Remove the speedometer drive unit (3) from the transmission.

4. Remove the suction line (6) for the transmission oil pump.

5. Remove the clip from line (5) and push the line into the transmission housing.

6. Remove the control valve bolts (4).

7. Remove the control valve and oil pump from the transmission housing as a unit.

8. Remove the relief valve (7) for lubrication oil pressure in the transmission.

9. Put the transmission housing on blocks with the torque converter up.

10. Remove two fastening bolts from the torque converter drive gear (8). Install two 1P7405 3/8"-
16NC eyebolts in the torque converter.

11. Fasten a hoist to the torque converter, and remove the transmission fastening bolts (9).

12. Lift the torque converter and transmission out of the transmission housing.

13. Remove the speedometer drive housing from the transmission housing.

14. Remove the cover from the speedometer drive housing and drive out the rear support bearing for
the transmission.

Install Transmission On Transfer Gear Case

1. Install the bearing in the speedometer housing, and install the cover.

2. Install the speedometer drive housing on the transmission housing.

3. Fasten a hoist to the torque converter and transmission assembly. Lower the converter and
transmission assembly into the transassembly into the transmission housing.

4. Put the bolt holes in the transmission in alignment with the holes in the transmission housing, using
a bar as shown. Install the transmission fastening bolts. Tighten the bolts to 85 ± 5 lb.ft. (11,8 ± 0,7
mkg).

5. Remove the two eyebolts and install the fastening bolts for the drive gear of the torque converter.

6. Install the speedometer drive unit (1).

7. Install the relief valve (2) for lubrication oil pressure in the transmission.

8. Install the control valve (16) and oil pump as a unit in the transmission. Be sure that valve spool (7)
engages with the control lever.

9. Install the control valve fastening bolts (4).

10. Push oil line (5) into the control valve housing and install the retaining clip.

11. Install the suction line (3) for the transmission oil pump.

12. Install the suction screen for the transmission oil pump.

13. Install the cover for the transmission control valve.

a) install transmission and transfer gears on engine
