Without doubt it is a HOT topic. This is where we as Building Services engineers can apply ourselves and we need to rise to this challenge. Improving building energy efficiency will significantly alleviate the adverse effects of climate change. the many helpers and all those who have contributed to the success of this workshop. Building. the essence of life. Codes. Climate change has been a subject of much debate and attention this decade. a shelter – a place of comfort and safety. guidelines affecting the energy efficiency of key building services will be defined and we as Building Services engineers will become active players in the execution of these codes. Since 1998 the HKSAR government has operated a voluntary system promoting compliance with a prescribed BEC. Upon implementation. the co-organisers – CIBSE-HKB and PolyU-BSE. Energy. This voluntary system is being reviewed by the Government with the objective to implement a mandatory compliance regime.
