FOREWORD
This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized by the
Conductors and Accessories for Overhead Lines Sectional Committee had been approved by the
Electrotechnical Division Council.
This Indian Standard has been prepared to lay down the technical requirements of ‘Annealed Stranded
Copper Conductors’ for use in jumper wires.
For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final
value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance
with IS 2 : 1960 ‘Rules for rounding off numerical values ( revised )‘. The number of significant places
retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.

ANNEALED STRANDED COPPER
CONDUCTORS FOR JUMPER WIRES -
SPECIFICATION
1 SCOPE 33 Direction of Lay
tl This specikation Coversthe requirements for The direction of lay is defined as right hand or left
bare stranded annealed copper conductors of con- hand. With right hand lay,;the wires conform to the
centrio and rope lay ( having concentric stranded direction of the central part of the letter Z, when
members) construction for use as jumper wires in the conductor is held vertically. With left hand lay,
