 Babbage’s analytical engine was consisted on, input, output, store, mill, control.

 The mill was the calculating unit, hence we can call it analogous to ALU as in modern
computers.

 The store was where data were held prior to processing. Exactly analogues to memory and
storage to in modern computers.

 A peripheral device is generally defined as any auxiliary device such as a computer mouse

the 701. Optical device (light pen) was used in microcomputer generation (2nd generation).
 Third generation computer were consisted on integrated circuits. Software programming
was introduced, size and price was reduced. Integrated circuits are highly reliable.
 Fourth generation computer were consisted on microprocessors. Intel 4004 was first
microprocessor and it was four bit. Itanium, Pentium, Celeron, Xeon are came after Intel
4004. Our personal computer belongs to fourth generation of computer.
 Fifth generation computer, introduction of artificial intelligence. Prolog programming
language is used for artificial intelligence. Doctor Seymour Aubrey devised LOGO language.
 Sixth generation computer introduced WAN.
 Short for Electronic Numerical Integrator and Calculator, the ENIAC was the first electronic
computer used for general purposes, such as solving numerical problems. ENIAC contained
18,000 vacuum tubes & it could perform 300 multiplications per second.

 EDVAC was one of the earliest electronic computers. Unlike its predecessor the ENIAC, it
was binary rather than decimal, and was designed to be a stored-program computer.
ENIAC inventors John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert proposed the EDVAC's construction in
August 1944. Both ENIAC & EDVAC, UNIVAC were first generation computers.

 First generation computers were large in size, slow in speed, low level reliability, larger
power consumption and difficult maintenance.

 Analogue computers are less accurate while digital computers are more accurate.
 Time sharing mode enables more than one user to operate the same computer at the same

High level languages are easily understood by user. Assembly language uses
abbreviations/symbols called mnemonic. Translators converts high & low level language
into machine language. CPU controls all IOS (Transform input into output) & processing.

 FORTRAN is a high level language with concepts of modules. FORTRAN is most widely used
language. FORTRAN is compiler level language developed by IBM Team led by Jhon Backus
in 1957. PASCAL language is more suited to a structured programme. Nicklaus wirth is the
creator of PASCAL language.
 4G languages uses computer power to convert into machine language. e.g. VB & Java
 C is a high level language, programmer’s favorite language, uses small programs called
functions.
 Assembler, compiler & interpreter are language processors. Compiler converts machine
language into object code, interpreter translates source programme to object code.
Compilers and interpreter are themselves programs. Language processors converts
source programme instructions to object instruction.
 Selection of language depends upon requirements and specifications of programme.
 Language translators and operating system & service is called system software.
 The storage unit in ALU is called register. ALU responds to the commands coming from
control unit.

Animations does not exist in slide layout. Slide layout isn’t a part of slide design.
Task pane controls all the main slide control task, word Art and master slide isn’t available in
task pane.
