holsters on the planet, and I’ve been using one

polymer holsters, preferring polymers over
leather, which holds moisture. So, I was excited
to have the opportunity to tryout the
Company’s latest creation.

The Grip Tuck is a soft holster made from a trio

of materials. The outer layer is a tacky highly
textured material and when worn inside the
waistband “grips” your clothing, so the holster
is very stable with virtually no movement or
shifting.

The shell is made from a high density neoprene;

that reminds me of 1/8 inch wetsuit material.
The firearm sits deeply in the holster so the
trigger guard is fully covered. The shell material
is sufficiently dense so the trigger cannot be
accidentally operated through the outer layer

is finding a holster that is secure, comfortable,
and capable of accommodating accessories like
the trigger guard attached Streamlight TLR6 or a
Crimson Trace laser sight. A CCW gun owner’s
modus operandi usually involves removing the
accessory to carry the firearm in its holster, only
to reinstall it at home.

To make matters worse, if they have a variety of

platforms, the CCW gun owner ends up
accumulating a vast array of holsters before
blinking an eye. Fortunately, our friends at Alien
Gear solved all of those issues with the July,
2019, introduction of the Alien Gear Grip Tuck
Universal Holster.

In the interest of transparency, I’ve been an

Alien Gear customer for quite some time. In my

Alien Gear has done something I thought
outstanding and unique; they designed a
toolless belt clip so adjusting ride height is a
simple matter of rotating the belt clip and
moving it to the appropriate hole for your
preferred height.
The holster is lined with what Alien Gear calls a
thermoplastic elastomer. It’s this lining that
provides the structural support keeping its soft
materials from collapsing and making holstering
inconvenient. It also ensures stiffness around
the trigger guard. Trigger guard protection is as
good as any polymer IWB holster.
So far, we have a secure, comfortable and
competently designed IWB holster but what
about the universality?

When you go to Alien Gear’s web site to order
your own Grip Tuck Universal Holster, you’ll be
asked for manufacturer but there’s no model
selection, instead you’re asked for size, a bit like
buying a sport jacket.
Your next selection is draw hand followed by
light or laser options; here, your choices are yes
or no.
I’ve been wearing Alien Gear’s Grip Tuck
Universal Holster for a week and find it to be
superbly comfortable, extremely stable and
possessing all of the attributes that make
appendix carry safe with excellent accessibility.
It is unquestionably the best soft holster I’ve
used.
