In this lesson you find an overview of the newest function of ELCAD/AUCOPLAN.
New Features of ELCAD/AUCOPLAN Version 7.7.0

With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.5.x the focus was on the compatibility with current operating systems (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008) as well as the
data migration to Engineering Base and the transfer to DocWare Parts Publisher.
With the development of the version 7.7.0, the focus was again on the extension of the usability and the simplification of the daily design work.
For this purpose AUCOTEC has again analyzed your requests and has put together many of these points in the version 7.7.0. With the current version
many editing steps become even more efficient, and the operation becomes even easier.
As always, the main focus of all extensions is on the compatibility of your data and easier handling.

With ELCAD 7.7.0, a solution is offered to read in old data stocks (printed documentation) from scanned Tiff files and to generate projects with this data.
Thus it becomes easy for you to adopt documentation that hitherto was only available in printed form into your electronic data processing and archiving
jobs. After read-in you can also carry out graphic modifications and add supplements. This "Advanced Tiff-Import" solution requires a separate license. A
predecessor version of this solution was up to now available as the add-on solution ELCAD Hybrid.
With the Advanced Tiff import you can import all Tiff files of a folder into your project if you do not need individual assignments of properties to individual
drawings (multi-import). With this method the definition of the import rule file is quite simple, the sheet number in the last level is simply incremented.
With this automated incorporation it is possible to incorporate a large number of scanned documents into ELCAD/AUCOPLAN with little effort.
If you want to assign single sheets individual properties such as form symbol, drawing name, drawing number, plant, function, location, sheet comment or
other technical attributes, you can do this by using a more complex import rule file that specifies the future properties for each TIFF file.
Prerequisites for the import
Prerequisites for the import

To begin with specify a template project where you can store the forms and form specifications as templates in empty drawings. This project should
contain empty drawings with filled-out administrative entries in the form sheets, which are then used as templates for the import of the Tiff files.
Then create a new project for reading in the Tiff drawings into which you can import the drawings.
Your user directory contains two examples of import rule files under the name "Tiff-Import-Template.xls" or "Tiff-Import-Template-Multi.xls". You can use
these files to view the settings for the Tiff import in exemplary form or to redefine them for your purposes. Copy one of the rule files into the directory
with the scanned Tiff files and modify it there (see below).
Start the function in ELCAD with closed graphics under EXTRAS / SERVICES / ADVANCED TIFF IMPORT.
Fill out the dialog "Advanced Tiff import" and start the function with [OK].

Multi-import
For the multi-import use wildcards (*.tif) for the image file in column A and use a line to specify the details of the import (line 1) of a complete folder with
drawings.

For an individual import job you can assign each Tiff file an individual template drawing (columns B to F), an individual drawing designation (columns G to
K) and can make assignments for plant, function and location (columns M to O) as well as additional ELCAD code numbers.
For AUCOPLAN projects and ELCADStudio projects, the form sheet data is evaluated with respect to plant, tag / function and location, and the
corresponding objects are created in the database. Thus it is possible to manage the documents in relation to objects.

With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.7.0 you are provided with a further improved user interface for the adoption of existing data in Engineering base which reflects
the experiences gained from projects in practice by means of essentially extended configuration features.
Furthermore the adoption of existing data contains considerable improvements for the transfer of process connections, permits the substitution of a
symbol by a shape and supports the structured transfer of master data for devices, cables and strips.
Many user suggestions have been implemented into this version.

In the section of the ELCAD online help you find a new menu item OPEN ONLINE DOCUMENTATION. This directly opens the ELCAD Help folder and offers
you all ELCAD operation manuals as electronic documents (PDF) for opening.

Many users who work with frequently changing projects wanted the project settings to be the default settings in the options. With ELCAD 7.7.0 you can
specify whether the user settings or the project settings are activated as standard in the options.
If you wish the tab for the project settings to be permanently open, then set the following INI switch in the aucotec.ini:

If the switch is set to 0 or not present, then ELCAD opens the options as before with the default user settings.

The Redo Function

With version 7.7.0, the Redo function has been implemented in graphic editing of ELCAD/AUCOPLAN. With this function you can cancel previous undo
steps. Use the button [Reset Undo] for this purpose.

The navigation (function GOTO) from cores to the drawings to the object in the tree has been distinctly improved in version 7.7.0. For a non-evaluated
core there appears first of all a message that the device has not yet been entered. The subsequent behaviour depends on the data.
If the code 362 is empty, the cable is opened in the tree and the first core is marked.
If the code 362 is filled and if there is an entry with the same name in the tree, then the cursor is placed on the core with the same name.
If the code 362 is filled but there is no entry with the same name in the tree, then the cursor is placed cable that is not opened.

You can set test functions for drawings in the program interface; these functions have been extended by new tests in version 7.7.0.
Automatically Assigned Terminal Number
With this option you can mark terminals if their terminal number was automatically assigned.
PM+CT Object not Associated
This option marks a PM+CT object if it is not associated with the database.
Moreover the display of the marking arrows has been modified so that they are no longer reduced in large drawing formats, thus remaining visible.

With ELCAD 7.7.0 it is now possible to also graphically represent locations. This holds for the ELCAD project types that dispose of a location table:
• ELCAD Studio
• AUCOPLAN
• AUCOPLAN Studio
You can graphically display the location information in a symbol that is linked to the database and is automatically updated during subsequent project
editing. Moreover you can represent all code numbers of the location table in this symbol. This can e.g. be used in layout drawings for marking a location
whose change is automatically updated in the drawing.
The location symbol must be of the symbol type 2 and must contain the symbol class specification 15 in code number 1600.

With version 7.7.0 you can explicitly assign a colour to the following drawing objects:
• Lines, rectangles and circles
• Variable lines, rectangles and circles
• Texts
• Groups
• Symbols
• Connections, mechanical linkages and process connections
For this purpose select the menu item EDIT / OBJECTS / ASSIGN COLOURS or click with the right mouse key on an object. The following dialog is opened.
Activate the colour assignment using the radio box "Mix and Assign Colours" and use the sliders to define one of the 64 possible colours. A history offers
the last assigned colours for a direct selection.
The output of coloured elements is possible on the screen, on a Windows printer, for printing via the HPGL output and for the PDF output.
The colour assignment is not considered when drawings are output to DXF / DWG, TIFF, VNS and ELCAD ASCII.
The assignment of colours is not taken into consideration during the creation of revisions.

With version 7.7.0, the assignment of drawing objects to layers has been considerably simplified.
So far one could place objects only on the layer previously activated; now all drawing objects, a single object or all objects within a user-defined window
can be retrospectively be assigned to a layer.
These functions are available both in the menu EDIT / OBJECTS / ASSIGN LAYERS and in the context menu of the right mouse key.
The dialog shown below is then opened where you can view the current status and where you can assign the selected objects to another layer.
You can also reset all objects of a sheet to the standard layer 0.
The retrospective assignment of pen and line type for the following graphical elements has been further simplified with Version 7.7.0:
• Line
• Rectangle
• Circle
• Connection
• Mechanical linkage
With the menu item EDIT / OBJECTS / ASSIGN PENS/LINE TYPES you can retrospectively define the pen and the line type.

If you have inserted an image into a drawing and then find out that the original file is no longer accessible, you get with ELCAD 7.7.0 a simple option to
re-export this image.
For this purpose edit the corresponding image in ELCAD and then select the button [Save Embedded Image].

If you click with the left mouse key on a drawing object and press simultaneously the Shift and the Ctrl keys, the information of object type, symbol name,
layer, pen, line type and colour is indicated is displayed at the object and in the status line. For symbols, the item designation is shown if you simply click
on the symbol.

With the further development, the function "View Circuit Diagram" becomes more and more important.
Thus you can now with ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.7.0 print the content of the drawing view without opening the drawing.
This applies accordingly for the revisions in the functions "Display" and "Display with Compare". You can now also print the preview in the Templates tree
directly.

For the functions "Edit with transfer" and "Edit with transfer and increment" ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.7.0 memorises the entries in the dialogs in dependence
on the symbol types and offers these entries during the next action.

Revision of Lines, Rectangles and Circles

Many users wanted an expansion of the objects relevant for revisions. Therefore with ELCAD 7.7.0 you can also schedule lines, rectangles and circles for
revision. The revision now also includes the following changes in the free graphic elements:
• Changes of polylines (position, pen, line type)
• Changes of rectangles (position, size, pen, line type)
• Changes of circles (position, radius, starting and end angle, pen, line type)
• Changes in these elements are also taken into account if they are contained in groups.
In contrast to symbols, ELCAD manages no unambiguous identifier for these simple elements, which could e.g. be used to track a displacement of the
element. Therefore the position (for circles also the radius) is used for identification.
A displacement (for circles also a change of the radius) thus creates not only a message "Changed" but two messages, "Deleted" and "New".
You can set the revision symbols to be placed in the graphic in the options. Identical revision symbols are used for all free graphic elements.

Following many customer requests, the search function for the ELCAD object trees has been extended and optimized in version 7.7.0. Thus the search has
been newly arranged in the following areas.
• In the "Drawings" tree the search in batches.
• In the item editor the search among cables with active or inactive cable management.
• In the item editor the search in cable runs.
• In the item editor, the search in / I/O components for assignment lists from version 7 on.
• Search in the "Symbols" tree in drawing editing.
• Search in the "Components" tree in drawing editing.
• Search in the symbol tree of the symbol design.
In the course of the search function extension, the "Search" dialog was also optimized. In addition to its enlargement, the field "Found in" was introduced,
which shows you the position of the search result in a clearly laid out fashion. The search text found is marked. If the retrieved search text was found in
the comment or the description, it is marked here. If the result is the content of a translate reference, the translate reference is displayed.
If the search gets a result, the [Open] button is active. For many objects you can use this to start additional functions for the object. With the [Open]
button you start the function that in the tree is triggered for the object with the <Return> key. Once the button is active, the function triggered when
actuating the button is displayed as tool tip.
When the search function reaches the end of the respective tree, you are now made aware of this and are asked whether you want to start from the
beginning.
In the course of these extensions an option to assign comments to batches has also been implemented. Therefore you do no more have to supplement the
batch designation with the notes telling you which action they trigger. After creating a batch, all you have to do is to assign a comment with a right mouse
click.
Moreover the search for texts with umlauts in the Drawings tree has been newly arranged.

With version 7.7.0 you can now edit batch definitions retrospectively.
In the previous versions the batches had to be created anew if changes were required.
Start the batch editing in the property dialog of the batch.
On the left hand side you can find a mark which indicated which property (line) of the batch is currently active.
Use the [Change] button in order to specify the active properties anew.
With the buttons [Up] and [Down] you can move the active property in the list upwards and downwards thus changing the order in the list.
Please note that the first property of a batch has to be a sheet selection.

By means of freezing you can, e.g., avoid that a contact assigned to a specific contact number by the evaluation run, is assigned to another contact
number by a reset and a re-evaluation. Thus you can explicitly freeze and unfreeze slave symbols evaluated in the item tree with ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.7.0.
Only the data in the symbol which was automatically created by the evaluation is frozen or unfrozen. You can find the menu item for freezing and
unfreezing in the item tree in the context menu of the right mouse key on an evaluated slave symbol and all superordinated modes.
Thus you can freeze or unfreeze individual slave symbols, all slave symbols of a device, all slave symbols of a location and all slave symbols of a project. If
the drawing is not opened the information of freezing / unfreezing is at first stored in the item tree so that the drawings have not to be opened
unnecessarily.
When the drawing is opened or ELCAD is exited the slave symbols are actually frozen / unfrozen. The different states are indicated in the item tree by
several icons.
Frozen slave symbol. Freezing is only indicated in the item tree.

Unfrozen slave symbol. Unfreezing is only indicated in the item tree.
Unfrozen slave symbol. Unfreezing is also indicated in the drawing.
As soon as the commands FREEZE / UNFREEZE or the batch functions Freeze or Unfreeze are used on entire sheets, all markings at the corresponding
slave symbols in the object tree are removed.

For the evaluation of drawings in the batch or in the drawing tree you can define that specific symbol types are evaluated one after the other in specific
runs. When drawings have been reset until now all symbol types have been reset.
With version 7.7.0 a dialog is opened now for the reset of evaluations in a batch or in the drawing tree in which you can specify which symbol types are to
be reset and which are not.

The function used to get server projects for local editing, to edit them locally and to block them during that time on the server is frequently used to carry
out compute-bound evaluations without overloading the network. While the projects are blocked it is however not possible to answer questions concerning
the blocked projects without previously copying them.
With version 7.7.0 you get the option to download the projects in the read-only mode even if they are blocked on the server. You find the function under
EXTRAS / SERVER PROJECT / GET IN VIEW-MODE.
With this function you can retrieve for viewing both server projects that have not yet been checked out and those that have already been checked out and
are blocked on the server.
These local copies of the projects are automatically assigned the read-only status. You can neither edit them nor transfer them back to the server. You can
only view this local copy or delete it.
Moreover, when getting the project information is queried that is displayed as note during its later opening. A comment can be assigned for each retrieval
and restore. This comment is likewise stored in the project properties.
You can have the current status of server projects displayed in the project properties. Here the project status, the editing time and the last updater are
shown.
The following status information of the server projects is shown.
In addition, the operating mode of "Restore Server Projects" was changed so that projects can be restored from the folder into which they were previously
checked out with the function "Copy Server Project". If you want to still use the unaltered functionality, then insert the following entries in the aucotec.ini:

The ASCII output of drawings is often used to save drawing stages temporarily. Up to now a batch had to be created for this purpose. With ELCAD 7.7.0
you can now output any drawing in the ASCII format directly from the Drawings tree.
You can output in ASCII all drawings, individual drawings, folders or a manual selection of drawings.
For this purpose select the desired drawings in the Drawings tree and click with the right mouse button.
The file is stored in the txt format. The project name is the default filename.

You can now check during the project check if links to external documents are still valid. Activate the option "Missing External Documents" for this
purpose.
Starting with version 7.7.0 the drawings, the project database, the specified external documents and, if present, the project-related master data are
checked for document links in the open project.
The external links in the code numbers 92 and 5030 … 5035 are checked.
The GSD data of the Hardware Configuration Link is also checked.
This function is also available for the project check via the EDM interface.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.7.0, you can keep the terminal accessories during the reconstruction of the project even if the accessories are not represented
graphically. Select the new reconstruction option "Write Terminal Accessories" for this purpose.
In order to keep the terminal accessories during the reconstruction, the options "Write Terminals", "Read Terminals" and "Evaluate Project" have to be
activated additionally.
The project analysis (QM Tool) enables the examination of a project on the basis of definable criteria. The results of the analysis are stored as a user-list in
the project.
With version 7.7.0 you can now navigate from individual entries in the result list to the corresponding sheet or you can view this sheet. Thus fixing errors
of the list is considerably sped up. If the error does not have a graphic representation a corresponding message is displayed.

When large lists are being edited it can be useful to reduce the number relevant data records by means of filters. With version 7.7.0 you can now import
and use filters from other projects. If you cannot find the desired filter in the selection dialog, you can use the [Import] button to open another project and
to copy filters from there.
If the structures of the lists in the source project are not identical you possibly must adapt the copied filters.
Import Protocols
The import of protocols from other projects with similar methods is also possible now at the following locations:
• Protocol selection at File/Output/via Protocol
• Protocol selection at File/Output/via Free Formats
• Protocol selection at File/Output/Short Report
• Protocol selection at File/Export/via Protocols
• Protocol selection at File/Export/to Drawings
• Protocol selection at File/Import/via Protocols

A request frequently expressed was a check of the allocation number of I/O components to avoid duplicate assignments. This request has been
implemented with ELCAD 7.7.0. Open the assignment list for this purpose, then click with the right mouse key in the list and select the menu item CHECK
REPRESENTATIONS.
This function generates a log in which one can see how often each I/O component is graphically represented. The log differentiates between the single
representation and the card representation and lists the results in different columns.
The allocation check can be run on the log by the user. Only the user knows the exceptions and the special cases of the project. If there is more than one
card representation and one single representation per address present this may point to a wrong assignment.

With version 7.7.0, the selection of terminal numbers to be unfrozen has been considerably simplified. You can now choose to which extent you want to
unfreeze terminals.
• Unfreezing all strips of a project
• Unfreezing all strips of a location
• Unfreezing a single strip
For this purpose switch over to the item editor and there to the section "Strips / Terminals", then select the complete section, a location or a terminal
strip. With a right mouse click you then get the menu item UNFREEZE TERMINAL NUMBERS.
Subsequently you get a cautionary query meant to prevent unintentional unfreezing. Click on OK to unfreeze the terminal numbers. All terminals of the
selected blocks are now reset to the status "automatically designated". Finally you get a message about the number of the unfrozen strips and terminals.

With version 7.7.0 the terminal block designer was extended by the print function.
You can now print the prepared blocks directly from the designer. In addition the functions Printer setup and Print preview are available.

In the Terminal Block Designer it is from ELCAD-Version 7.7.0 possible to print a strip. For this purpose a print preview is available.
Moreover it is now possible to transmit purely numerical part numbers to other terminals by simply "dragging down" the column as in Excel.

For the creation of function diagrams it can be useful to know if signal representations exist and how many representations of a signal are specified as
source. To start the function click with the right mouse key in the signal table and select the menu item CHECK REPRESENTATION.
This check was extended by the function to log the number of source specifications per signal. Thus you can check with AUCOPLAN 7.7.0 if the maximum
number of source specifications of a signal is exceeded.

Another component of ELCAD 7.7.0 is a distinctly expanded performance range for the adoption of existing data into Engineering Base. Among other
things the following functions have now become constituents of the data adoption:
• ELCAD symbols can be replaced by existing EB shapes during migration.
• Secondary representations not really existing in ELCAD, e.g. layout representations of devices, are converted to actual secondary representations in EB.
• Transfer of the device master data to EB.
Moreover many feedback messages and much experience gained concerning the adoption of projects have been incorporated into ELCAD 7.7.
Another novelty is that when defining the PDF output in a batch, you are offered the dialog with the options "Enable Navigation and Searching" and "Open
PDF File Immediately"; the settings specified there are saved together with the batch definition. The detailed information of a batch then shows the
memory location, the filename and the output options.
If you want to keep the former output for a batch, terminate the selection dialog with [Cancel]. With the following switch you can moreover reactivate the
former function when defining a compact PDF batch.

If you have an SAP license, you can specify whether an SAP document info set is to be created; however this is possible only if no navigable PDF is
created.

Up to now it was possible to specify the layer settings for the DXF output of drawings as for the screen display. If someone wanted to use different layer
settings, he had to change the settings before the DXF export.
With version 7.7.0 it is now possible to use the same layer settings for the DXF export as for the output to a printer / plotter. During the export, this
setting activates the layer settings that were specified for the printer output. You find this new option in the Settings.
If both switches are set, then the plotter output setting prevails.

Starting with version 7.7, the output of ELCAD drawings to the DOCware Parts-Publisher is also available as a function of the EDM interface.
Via the keyword "DOCWARE" the EDM system starts a DOCware output for the specified project. The command can be configured as single or multiple
actions.
Example for configuring an output path in the control file edm2elc.ini:

If the output files are generally to be stored in a certain folder, you can specify a global output path in the aucsys.ini or aucotec.ini.

If you here enter the keyword "$pro" as target, then the files will always be stored in the subfolder "docware" of the project folder.
If an output folder has not been defined either in the EDM system or the aucsys.ini, then the files are stored in the ELCAD working directory in a folder
with the name of the project.
With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.5.1 we had focused on the compatibility with current operating systems (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008) as well as the
adoption of existing data from Engineering Base and the transfer to DocWare Parts Publisher. With the development of version 7.6.0, the focus is now
again on the extension of the usability and the simplification of the daily design work.
With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.6.0 you get a version that contains many innovations and improvements. For this purpose AUCOTEC has again analyzed your
requests and has put together many of these points in version 7. 6.0. With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.6.0 many editing steps become even more efficient, and
the operation becomes even easier.
As always, the main focus of all extensions is on the compatibility of your data and easier handling.

Status boxes with residual runtime display

ELCAD offers status boxes for all actions that run over a longer period of time. With ELCAD 7.6.1 you now get a status box that tells you the probable
residual runtime of the action.
You get information about
• The elapsed runtime
• The estimated runtime left
• The percentage already finished
• A counter with the total number of objects and information on which object the program is currently dealing with.

After the object tree and the lists, another central ELCAD/AUCOPLAN element has been rendered Unicode capable. Thus you can now use translate texts
and have them displayed in translated form also for the meaning and the tabs in the edit mask of Drawing Editing.
To do this, enter translate references under "Meaning" in the symbol design; these are then displayed in translated form according to the current translate
setting.

With version 7.6.0 it is now possible to select the operands in PLC symbols during drawing editing. The selection accesses the predefined assignment list.
For the code numbers 12211 (absolute address) and 12212 (symbolic address) you get a selection button in the symbol editing dialog.
You enter the option via the [...] button using the S keys of the assignment list. Select an S key, and then select an item from the list of available
operands in the field "Selection".
With the button [#], you can moreover also use a filter for the data selection.
This function supports only assignment lists of the PLC version >7.3.

You can set test functions for drawings in the program interface; these functions have been extended by two new tests in version 7.6.0.
Symbols missing in symbol libraries
This function shows the reference points of symbols in a drawing that do not occur in the predefined symbol libraries and can therefore not be
represented.
Wired terminal connector without designation
You can use this function to check whether it has been forgotten to assign a connector designation to terminals with the code 45. This test function was
already available as separate command in the command line.
Moreover the display of the marking arrows has been modified so that they are no longer reduced in large drawing formats, thus remaining visible.

In several Windows fonts, the small Greek character "theta" is displayed as follows ( ) and not as commonly used as a technical symbol for the
temperature ( ). The required representation exists only in some fonts.
To enable a correct display, the setting of the fonts / character sets has been extended by a checkbox for redirection to the Unicode character U+03D1.
For this purpose activate the checkbox "Use small theta as technical symbol".
Please note that you must use Windows fonts for this purpose and that this character is present only in a small number of fonts (e.g. Arial Unicode MS,
Lucida Sans Unicode). With other fonts the character is not displayed properly.

In ELCAD/AUCOPLAN, you can open the symbol selection simply using the command "*." or the corresponding button. In the symbol selection you can
then apply a filter by entering characters and/or specifying the symbol types.
With version 7.6.0 you can now ensure that the set filter is the default setting the next time you call the program. Simply activate the checkbox "Save
filter".

Up to now automatic angular connections started with the triple of the current grid. There were requests to have this value adjustable.
With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.6.0 there now is a two-stage setting that is independent of the set grid.
In addition to the option to enable or disable the automatic angular connection, now there is an adjustable minimum distance at which the automatic
angular connection starts. The default value is 2.5 mm.
As soon as the cross-hair pointer exceeds the set value by more than threefold while drawing a connection, the angular offset is automatically activated.
The angular offset is applied if the cross-hair pointer deviates laterally by more than the single value. It is automatically reset when this deviation becomes
smaller.

In order to exclude a symbol from evaluation, it is provided with the code number 4020 (deactivation of evaluability) and the entry "1".
If required, you can additionally configure via the code 4020 that the symbols exactly behave like symbols of symbol type 2.
For this purpose enter "2" in code number 4020.
This holds for all symbols of type 1, 5, 6, 7 and 12.

So far a symbol could only be exchanged if the number of the connectors remained equal or if it got larger. Now the number of connectors can also be
reduced during the exchange of symbols. The connectors and their designators are assigned according to their co-ordinates. Connectors already wired
must not be absent.

Up to now the history of the projects last opened was restricted to 5 entries. This was however very low for users who frequently work with varying
projects. Therefore the project history has been extended to 20 projects. The five projects edited last are offered on the first menu level.
A submenu is used to offer additional 15 entries of recently edited projects.

A frequent request from customers was to be able to edit all ELCAD error messages summarily in the error list. Starting with version 7.6, the error list now
also contains the messages arising elsewhere or were hitherto not entered, thus e.g. during the evaluation of core symbols by the cable management.
This includes the following error messages:
• Terminal number duplicated (terminal internal/external)
• Core has no connection relation
• Core is duplicated or not intended
• Core does not have complete destination specifications
• Designation of the core not specified
• Core does not describe an unambiguous connection
• Core does not describe any connection
• Cable designation missing
• Core specification not reserved
• Core specification not registered
• Core is at a wiring node without connections

With version 7.6.0, the representation of the potential designators has been extended according to the requirements of IEC 61346.
With the designator hierarchy switched on with the greater than symbol, the designators of connector and potential symbols were up to now not linked to
the entries in forms and/or windows.
From version 7.6.0, you can use the project-related options to specify whether you want to achieve a linkage of the data from windows (forms, if
applicable) and symbols for connector symbols and potentials.
Because connector symbols and potentials do not have a special sign, the combined display uses a semicolon.

Many ELCAD/AUCOPLAN functions permit the output of a result or a protocol to files. You as the user enter the directory and the filename.
With version 7.6.0, ELCAD now stores the paths and the filenames for each action separately and offers you these entries as default when you call the
next similar function.
This holds for batch actions, commands in command lines, functions in the service menu and all other functions that include writing into files.
The files are stored in a user-related manner in the file "aucotec.ini" in section [LastOutputFile].
The storage happens automatically once the respective function has been carried out in ELCAD 7.6.0.

The project reconstruction was extended by three new settings which offer additional options to the users.
Update sheets
If you have changed the ELCAD databases you can update all sheets prior to the reconstruction by means of this option.
Freeze terminals/plugs
With this function data of the terminals, such as automatically created data, e.g. the terminal number, is frozen so that it cannot get lost during the
reconstruction.
Freeze secondary representations
By means of this option essential data of the slave devices is frozen so that it cannot get lost during the reconstruction.

From version 7.6.0, you can find in the context menu of the right mouse key on a project or under Extras/Services, apart from the reconstruction, the
function Project Tools.
The project tools are functions which were developed originally in connection with the reconstruction and which are now separately available.
Write Terminals
With the option "Write Terminals" you can save terminals which are not represented on the drawings, such as terminals created in the terminal editor.
Read Terminals
With the option "Read Terminals" you can import terminal information saved by the function "Write Terminals".
Read Standard Strips
If the project contains standard strips the original standard strip information can be imported again by means of this option.
Update Sheets
After changes in the database (e.g. freezing strips in the item tree) this option is used to update all sheets.

In list editing you now can navigate from an opened list directly to the object of the corresponding drawing sheet (e.g. page in circuit diagram, layout
diagram of graphic contents table).

If drawing editing is then closed the program automatically returns to the previous table in list editing.

When navigating in ELCAD, up to now a drawing was opened in the same tab as the drawing opened previously.
With version 7.6.0 each drawing started by navigation from the equipment tree, the toolbar or with the command "N" is opened in a new tab, the only
prerequisite being that this feature is set in "Options / User / Drawing /Tabs".

With version 7.6.0, ELCAD/AUCOPLAN enables a multi-protocol export from drawings. Up to now one could carry out only one protocol using the function
"Export to Drawings". For each output one had to restart the function with another protocol.
In the current protocol selection for the export from drawings you can now mark several protocols. With the button "Execute" all marked protocols are
then output one by one.

In ELCAD/AUCOPLAN lists the # character is often used as line break. Depending on whether you want to further edit the exported lists with other
programs or to later read them into ELCAD, you must either retain the character during the standard export or change it.
With ELCAD 7.6.0 you can now specify in the output dialog of the standard export whether or not you want to convert the # character into a blank.

To enable this, a new feature was implemented in version 7.6.0: When you hit terminal symbols of a terminal diagram with the right mouse button, the
context menu offers the menu item "Navigate". Using this menu item, you can now navigate from the terminal diagram directly to the representation of
the terminal in the circuit diagram.

For block-related terminal diagrams, which you can create without batch processing, retroactive editing of the form entries was time-consuming.
Therefore starting with ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.6, the edit mask of the form is offered for the first drawing to be created when you first generate the block-
related terminal diagrams or connector diagrams.
Here you can enter generally applicable entries, which are then transferred to all automatically created successive sheets. During regeneration the former
form entries are kept. If you want to have new specifications in the forms, then you must first delete the drawings.
When sheets are deleted, then this information is not saved but must be re-entered during the next initial creation.
You can specify in the user settings whether you are offered the form for editing during initial creation.

To further simplify the handling of cable editing, you can now start various cabling functions from the Item tree.
For this purpose the following functions have been added to the Item tree in the folder "Cables", which are activated with the context menu (right mouse

For the compact PDF output, the project designation is the default PDF filename in the dialog box for specifying the memory location and the name.
During the direct PDF output from the Drawings tree, you find the default value via the right mouse button. The default path is given by the folder set in
the PDF configuration.
Another novelty is that when defining the PDF output in a batch, you are offered the dialog with the options "Enable Navigation and Searching" and "Open
PDF File Immediately"; the settings specified there are saved together with the batch definition. The detailed information of a batch then shows the
memory location, the filename and the output options.
If you want to keep the former output for a batch, terminate the selection dialog with [Cancel]. With the following switch you can moreover reactivate the
former function when defining a compact PDF batch.

Please note that you need a separate license for the eCAB output.

Processing the instruction file is aborted if one of the specified source sheets is missing during copying the sheets.
Set the following switch in the aucotec.ini file to configure that the instruction file is always processed completely.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.5.1, the Windows 7 ® operating system is now supported and released for this product family.
In accordance with the start of the Microsoft sale in October 2009, the current ELCAD version is likewise released for Windows 7. Please refer to the
information on the product CD for information about peculiarities of the installation and operation under Windows 7 ®, Windows Vista ® and Server 2008.

To be able to use the functional scope and the advantages of AUCOTEC's Engineering Base, you can transfer your ELCAD projects to Engineering Base and
further edit them there.
In principle three basic variants for the adoption of you ELCAD data into Engineering Base are at your disposal.
1. The Standard Project Import of ELCAD projects to Engineering Base enables you to start the adoption with a single push of a button. For
mapping the data, default settings or alternatively settings you have prepared are used in this case.
2. If over and above that you want to realize individual adjustments, you can specify this with the Configurable Project Import. If you want to
specify which data you want to adopt from a project and which is to be excluded, then this variant is advisable.
3. To transfer the environmental data not related to projects for future use in Engineering Base, e.g. master data, symbol files and translate files you can
use the third variant Environmental Data Import.
In addition to the three variants for the transfer you find various options for assigning ELCAD data to Engineering Base data, which you can supplement
individually. Of course standard assignments are already configured by the program also in this case. You can individually supplement these default values
or simply change them.
Assignment Code Number/Attribute
If for instance you have stored important data in user-defined code numbers in ELCAD, it makes sense to assign these code numbers to an Engineering
Base attribute so that it is adopted there in the desired position.
Assignment Symbol/Device Type
At this point you can assign an Engineering Base device type (e.g. relay) to symbols you have individually created in ELCAD. Thus the symbols are
assigned to this device type already during the transfer and therefore get the attributes specified for relays. Moreover it is possible to specify the pin type
for device connectors here.
There is a default for symbols delivered by AUCOTEC also in this case .
Assignment of Unused Channels Device Types
To also permit the adoption of unused channels in self-designed ELCAD master/slave symbols as originally intended when created, you can specify
assignments here.
For example in this case the EB device type "N/C" is assigned to the ELCAD contact type "ANC" (auxiliary normally closed). You can add this for your in-
house rules.
Helpful Option
With the option "Analysis Run Only" you moreover get the option to automatically extend the list of assignments. If you select this option, there is no
data transfer to EB. Instead your data is analyzed. For this purpose code numbers you have individually specified and symbols you have created are
determined.
During analysis, code numbers not yet assigned by default to an EB attribute and symbols not yet assigned by default to an EB device type are determined
and added to the lists. Subsequently you can easily assign them. Thus the quality of the data adoption can be improved in a very simple way.

With the ELCAD version 7.5.1 an interface to the Parts Publisher version 5 developed jointly by AUCOTEC and DOCware is available.
The drawings, the information about the equipment, its sub-devices and order numbers as well as their representation are exported from
ELCAD/AUCOPLAN and can be further used in Parts Publisher projects.
You can individually specify which details from the parts master data you pass on. For this purpose extend the entries in the file aucotec.ini of the current
user by the section [DocWarePartInfo].
In the Parts Publisher, the drawings with the individual objects are represented in collecting frames. When one moves over the frame, the current item
designation is displayed.
On the left you find the Drawings tree, the Equipment tree and a list of the sub-devices for a selected part number. An item can moreover be also selected
directly. From the Drawings tree and the Equipment tree you can navigate to the graphic representations.
The DOCware interface is available as optional license.

For better detectability of details in drawings, it is possible from version 7.5.1 on to output drawing section enlargements to PDF. This is useful e.g. for
outputting sections of layout drawings. The sections can be output to standard printer economically and nonetheless readable for the workshop. This
function is available for all variants of the PDF output, with the exception of AUCOTECview.
For this purpose specify a window around the section of the drawing you want to output in enlarged form. Use a rectangle or polyline for this purpose.
Place a window symbol of the type 10 or 11 in this window. This window symbol must contain a dialog with the code 54. Enter the designation for the later
sectional enlargement in the code 54. You can specify several sectional windows per drawing.
During PDF output first of all the total drawing is output, and subsequently a separate PDF document is created from each of the sections.
For the PDF compact output, the sections with their designations are displayed as additional drawings in the Adobe Reader tree.
For the output as navigable PDF, two references are shown in the Adobe Reader tree for items represented twice; once each for the total drawing and once
for the sectional enlargement.
In the total drawing the frame lines of the sectional windows are visible on the screen, in the output (printer, PDF, TIFF etc.) they are not shown.
If you wish these lines and windows to be visible also in the output, you must set an ini switch for this purpose.

When calling a symbol in the command line together with its position, then the symbol is no more attached to the cross-hair pointer but is instead
instantly placed at this position in the drawing. The Autoconnect function is deactivated when coordinates are passed.

If you add the parameter "cursor" to the coordinates, then the symbol is attached to the cross hairs at the specified position of the drawing and can still be
freely positioned. The Autoconnect function is active.

As already known, the commands can be arranged with semicolons in a row both in the toolbar and under EXTRAS/TOOLS/COMMAND LINE.

When editing symbols, you can now directly select symbol macros (code number 90). With the [...] button you can start a symbol selection with graphic
preview from the editing mask.

In version 7.5.1 the handling of macros has again been distinctly facilitated. Initially you copy a graphic section into the ELCAD clipboard as with the
previous versions. To do this, create a window in the drawing by pressing the left mouse button and dragging, then select the menu item COPY GRAPHIC
SECTION or CUT GRAPHIC SECTION.

In the next step open the ELCAD macro tree and in the desired macro project click with the right mouse button on the project or any folder. Now you get
the menu item INSERT FROM CLIPBOARD.
Now you can immediately specify the name of the macro with all five levels. Depending on the criterion on which level of the project you have started the
function the entries in the dialog are already pre-assigned.
Calling, editing and instant storage are again considerably simplified.

Upon user request the maximum possible number of drawings in a batch has in version 7.5.1 been increased from 16,000 to 32,500.

With the new function User Selection Lists you can from version 7.5.1 on standardize and in many cases also automate the text selection when editing
symbols and lists.
The basic concept of this function is the following: If you enter or change an important attribute at a symbol or device, you must as a consequence often
also change other attributes. If this step cannot be automated, the dependent changes may be forgotten or are possible sources of error.
Examples:
1. If the symbolic address of a PLC bit is changed, then e.g. the symbol comment must also be changed.
2. When selecting a assembly type, you must simultaneously specify different assembly times and notes on assembly.
The selection is done for the ELCAD code numbers, which must be specified for the selection list in the project.ini. Only if specifications were made in the
project.ini is the menu item for creating and updating the user selection lists offered.
You can use only code numbers for the user selection lists for which there are as yet no selection options.
You can specify and select up to ten selection lists.
The function is available both in drawing editing and list editing. The function is provided royalty-free and belongs to the general performance range of
ELCAD / AUCOPLAN.
Prerequisites
You must extend the project.ini by the specifications for user selection lists. The specification of how many attributes the list is to comprise, which code
numbers are to have attributes for the selection function and the specification of at least one selection key per list are mandatory for the function User
Selection Lists.
User selection lists are filled from EXCEL files where the standard texts are maintained.
Creating / Updating the User Selection Lists
Once you have established the preconditions, click with the right mouse button on the Projects folder in the Drawings tree. There you then find a menu
item whose text you have defined in the project.ini, i.e. for example ASSEMBLY TYPE SELECTION.
Subsequently the selection list is newly created if it is not yet present. If the selection list already exists, it is updated. For this purpose select the EXCEL
file to be used for filling the selection list.
Using the User Selection Lists
During editing of all symbols and lists that contain the specified code number (project.ini entry "Buttoncode"), you now find a button [...] and [#] each.
The subsequent dialog is used to preselect the entries in your selection list via search tree [...] or data selection via filter [#].
Upon selection with [OK], you are offered all data records of the selection list that satisfy the conditions. Subsequently you select the desired entry from
the remaining ones.
On the basis the code numbers all entries are now transmitted from the user selection list to the symbol or the list. Thus you have consistently edited
several fields in one operation.
Entries from user selection lists can also again be overwritten or deleted.

As an option to save drawings even from damaged projects, the function "ASCII Backup of Drawings" was implemented in an earlier version. The ASCII
backup has now been extended with version 7.5.1.
During the backup of drawings a log file with the name "BackupProtocol.txt" is now created in the user directory. There the names of the drawings and the
errors encountered are recorded.
Should the ASCII backup lead to a program crash, you can deduce from this log file up to which drawing the program has proceeded during the backup
and whether additional errors have been found.

The Terminal Block Designer has been extended to include macro editing. For this purpose you must first of all switch the macro columns to visible in the
column configuration of the Terminal Block Designer.
Subsequently you can edit the macro names in the columns as usual.

For displaying all characters > ASCII 127, a defined code page is used. The code page ensures that the characters in the graphic and above all for the
output to UTF-8 and Unicode are correctly displayed.
With version 7.5.1, the list of internally selectable code pages has been extended.
In the Options under "Drawing/Fonts/Character Sets", you can now select additional code pages for diverse languages:
• 737 (Greek)
• 775 (Baltic)
• 855 (Cyrillic)
• 866 (Russian)
• System OEM code page from the Windows settings.
Thus it is now possible to use the local characters for the indicated languages in ELCAD.

Together with ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.5.1, the new tool from AUCOTEC, the Mechatronic Explorer, is made available to you.
The MECHATRONIC EXPLORER is a system for interconnecting and visualizing complex CAE data. It is an integration platform for supporting the operation
and maintenance of electrically controlled plants and machines respectively. The Mechatronic Explorer offers you among other things the following
features:
• Paperless project documentation with highlighting
• Evaluation of fault messages in process control rooms
• Intelligent navigation between all drawings and lists
• Redlining for the change documentation, also storable
• Executable from USB stick or CD without installation
• Shopping basket and bookmarks
You output the project data from ELCAD/AUCOPLAN to the Mechatronic Explorer via the same interface you have up to now used to provide data for
AUCOTECview. In the batch processing job of ELCAD 7.5.1 you select the action "Output Drawings for AUCOTEC viewer / Mechatronic Explorer" for this
purpose.

With version 7.5.1 it is possible to output the same circuit diagrams to PDF in two different language variants. Moreover it is now possible for the drawing
comment to consist of two attributes.
For this purpose you can store two different variants for the PDF output in the "aucotec.ini" file. You can specify for each variant which ELCAD form
attributes are to be used for assembling the tree designations during the PDF compact output. Moreover you can here specify that the sheet comment is to
consist of 2 attributes.
By means of an option in the dialog "Save as" you can choose between variant 1 (check box inactive) or variant 2 (check box active).

With SetExtSheetInfos=1 the extended functionality of the PDF output is activated. The checkbox "Use variant drawing level designator" is offered in the
dialog.
The setting ExtSheetInfos_1=0,0,0,0,0,193,65
is used to specify the first language variant. The drawing levels use AUCOTEC standard values whereas the drawing comment is composed of the two
code numbers 193 and 65. The first variant is used if the above-mentioned option in the dialog is not activated.
The setting ExtSheetInfos_2=194,195,196,197,0,198,199
is used to specify the second language variant. The drawing levels AUCOTEC use the code numbers 194 ... 197 whereas the drawing comment is
composed of the two code numbers 198 and 199. The second variant is used if the above-mentioned option in the dialog is activated.

With version 7.5.1 you can also generate navigable PDF via the EDM interface. If you have activated the option "Enable navigation and search" in the user
settings for the PDF graphic export, then this setting is also taken into account for the EDM action "PDF COMPACT".

For the EDM interface you can specify from version 7.5.1 on whether or not project editing is to be done with Windows fonts. You control the method of
operation with the following entry in the EDM communication file edm2elc.ini:

If "1" is entered here, the Windows fonts are used for project editing. If no specification is given, the specifications from the project.ini are used.
In any case the Windows font used is read from the project.ini or aucotec.ini. It does not have to be specified in the EDM communication file edm2elc.ini.

requests and has put together the most important points in version 7.5.0. As always, the most prominent extensions are the compatibility of your data and

For users of flying licenses, with version 7.5 a new dynamic license manager is available. The dynamic license manager can be optionally used and permits

start.

With version 7.5.0, the PDF output of ELCAD/AUCOPLAN has been adapted to the internationally standardized long-term archiving format PDF/A-1b (ISO
19005-1:2005). This enables safe archiving of the design documentation. With PDF/A-1b, all drawing elements and fonts are included in the PDF
document.
If you select the option "Enable Navigation and Search" when creating compact PDF files, then "intelligent PDF" and thus no PDF/A-1b is generated.
The same holds for the file output to AUCOTECview. As soon as you output navigation information, this does no more meet the requirements of the ISO
standard.

With version 7.5.0, the editing of zoomed drawings is further facilitated. Just move the drawing section with the pressed middle mouse button.
Alternatively you can move the drawing section also with the scroll bars arranged below and to the right of the drawing. If you do not need the new
functionality, you can of course also just deactivate it.

To enable the creation of drawings with a large number of complex logical symbols, the number of maximally possible symbol texts per sheet has been
increased to one million.

You can now exchange information between single I/O symbols and connected end devices via connections.
The transfer function is activated by closing a drawing where single I/O symbols are displayed. When opening a sheet where I/O symbols or their end
devices are displayed, the I/O symbols or end devices are updated. The transfer function can also be started manually.
The I/O symbols must have the symbol type 6. You can specify individually which contents are to be transferred.

With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.5 you can specify capture ranges that force symbols and macros to be placed on defined lines as soon as the symbols approach
the capture range.
Within the capture range catch lines automatically have priority over the specified grid. This makes e.g. sense when creating layout drawings that require
a placement different from the specified drawing grid.

With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.5 you can now create arbitrary commands and command chains of the command line as menu items and integrate these menu
items into your toolbar. You can create a maximum of 99 menu items for the command line commands. You can assign an individual icon to each menu
item.

With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.5 you can specify before copying drawings whether or not you want to simultaneously copy the I/O components contained in the
drawings.
For this purpose click with the right mouse button on the project in the Drawings tree, then use the menu item "Keep I/O Information on Copying" in the
context menu to specify your intended method of operation.
In the copying process the absolute and symbolic operands, the operand comments as well as the operand identifiers and start addresses are then not
accepted. This prevents e.g. operands to be assigned in duplicate when copying parts of the same project.

To simplify the material selection you can now combine filters and S keys for material selection. Thus the material selection is considerably accelerated if
the amount of master data is large.
For this purpose actuate the button [...] behind the part numbers when editing symbols.

When editing symbols in the circuit diagram it is now possible to edit the master data parts from the symbols of the circuit diagram.

With version 7.5.0, copying single or several drawings from template projects becomes considerably more comfortable.
For this purpose you find a new tab "Templates" in the object tree. The "Original Project" and the "External Project" from the settings are already specified
here. You can add up to 20 additional template projects.
Use the tab "Templates" to select drawings or a group of drawings that you wish to copy, and reinsert them into the working project.
If it occurs frequently that you want to insert the same drawings repeatedly one after another, you can activate this function. The drawings then remain in
the ELCAD clipboard after each insertion. Normally they are deleted after each insertion step.
It is not possible to simultaneously copy from several different projects.

At the request of many, the project archiving routine has been extended by the adoption of formats and standard texts. Moreover symbol names that were
e.g. stored for specification symbols, symbols from master data as well as translate texts from revisions and macros are now also archived if required.
The checking routines for the project check and for archiving have been standardized to ensure equivalent results.

With ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.5, apart from the familiar terminal editor an up-to-date method for terminal editing is available – the Terminal Block Designer.
Thus you are able to supplement the terminal data from the circuit diagram in an easy manner.
In the Terminal Block Designer, the terminals are displayed in a grid. The setup of the terminal block is carried out analogous to the terminal diagram. You
can adjust individually which columns are displayed or hidden.
The Terminal Block Designer is started at the terminals of a drawing or the terminal diagram and the terminal blocks in the item tree.
You can reserve and delete, freeze and unfreeze terminals, exchange destinations and cut and paste terminals or blocks. You can assign part numbers to
the terminals and can add and manage additional materials such as separation plates and closing mounts. Another novel feature is the possibility to undo
changes with the Undo / Redo function.
The Designer represents the various kinds of bridges. If problems are recognized for certain terminals, then these terminals are marked.

With version 7.5 it is now possible to design compact, multi-column terminal diagrams. The code numbers and extensions required for this purpose are
already integrated and documented. However, since this complex subject is suitable only for professionals in advanced symbol design, we recommend that
in case of need you graphically design a sample diagram and then realize the job with the support of the AUCOTEC Service Center.

For the automation of multilingual translations, the code number 1002 was extended by the function "Exchange Texts".
Using the code 1002, you can now copy texts into a target dialog and simultaneously exchange them during copying. Several exchange functions are

With AUCOPLAN Studio, you can alphanumerically define and centrally change devices independent of graphics and circuit diagram. Object and frame
representations are automatically updated, as is the prewiring information as soon as prewiring is activated. Alphanumeric and graphic editing can be
arbitrarily mixed. Changes in the objects are carried out online for all representations.
AUCOPLAN Studio integrates external engineering data from the most varied sources of your company into your projects. You can import arbitrary drive
lists, load and field device definitions into your projects. With AUCOPLAN Studio, imported data can be further processed in tabular form, specified and
linked to the graphic. You can adopt the identification alternatively from the drawings or the imported device definitions.
Devices can be ordered already without functional assignment in the circuit diagram, and cabinet layout can be commissioned. The circuit diagram can be
created later on.
Do you start with the cabinet layout?
With AUCOPLAN Studio you can copy complete cabinets from other projects. AUCOPLAN Studio fills the necessary device list on the basis of the device
data copied simultaneously and automatically generates the parts list required for ordering.
In ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4.0, a large number of dialogs of project and drawing editing have been revised according to the current Windows standards.
They are thus easier to handle and better to operate. Wherever meaningful, functions and online help entries have been added.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4, you can place up to 30 drawings in tabs and thus quickly access them. Among other things this permits you to rapidly switch
between the individual drawings or to efficiently copy drawing elements from one drawing to another one.
For this purpose double-click on a drawing in the Drawing tree while pressing and holding the Shift key, or open a drawing in the Drawing tree with the
right mouse button using the function OPEN IN NEW TAB.
The status of the tabs is stored for the last 10 projects and restored with the next project selection.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4.0, you can easily start the graphic copying function by pressing the left mouse button and drawing a window while keeping
the mouse button pressed.
Upon releasing the mouse button, a pop-up window appears with the menu items COPY GRAPHIC SECTION and CUT GRAPHIC SECTION. Subsequently the
reference point for the graphic section is queried, and the data is copied into the clipboard.
If you have opened several drawings in different tabs, you can now copy the graphic section to other drawings by simply changing the tab.
A click on right mouse button in the free area of a drawing creates a pop-up window with the function PASTE GRAPHIC SECTION. The insertion point is
queried, and the data from the clipboard is inserted.

In version 7.4.0, graphics editing has been considerably simplified with respect to the placement of symbols and connections.
Placing connections
When drawing connections, possible connector points for symbols are now marked, and the prioritized connector point is specially highlighted. You do not
have to directly "hit" the connector points to establish the connection. Moreover connections are now automatically bent if one moves the cross-hair
pointer more than three grid steps (default value) away from the coordinate of the origin.
Connection preview when placing symbols

When placing symbols while the symbol is attached to the cursor, the program calculates the possible connections for the surrounding drawing online and
displays them graphically. You can arbitrarily change the desired connection direction before the placement and then place the symbol together with the
connections in one step.

When you drag a part from the component tree onto a symbol in a drawing, the system checks whether the part has been assigned the name of the
symbol to which it is to be assigned. This check is carried out only for the assignment of the first part number.
If more than one matching symbol is specified, a list of the possible symbols is offered. A graphic preview is also possible
If the check shows that the name has not been assigned to the part, a corresponding note is displayed; the symbols are not automatically exchanged,
however. Nonetheless you can assign the desired part to the symbol.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4.0, you can now output coloured drawings to Windows printers (GDI) and as PDF files.
You find the required settings in the menu OPTIONS / USER / OUTPUT / COLOUR SETTINGS
The former possibility to colour print in special cases by means of a manually adjusted printer 1000 is no longer available due to this solution.

If you use cores and wires in connections spanning several sheets, you can from version 7.4.0 onward display the data (e.g. core designation or colour) on
both sheets.
For this purpose the connections spanning several sheets must be constructed by means of connector symbols (symbol type 3) or potentials (symbol type
14).

To recognize a connector type (e.g. internal or external) and the working status of symbols and connections, it used to be necessary to call an appropriate
test function. With version 7.4.0 it is now possible to permanently visualize this information in the drawing.
In the drawing management, you find in the menu EXTRAS / TEST DRAWING.../ CONFIGURATION... a setting for the permanent display of markings. The
settings you specify here are stored in the aucotec.ini. Modifications of the connection status as well as the working status of symbols or connections can
thus immediately be visualized in the drawing.

Once a symbol has been edited, there is a check whether all part numbers specified in the symbol editing mask are already present in the predefined
master database.
If this is not the case, there is a query whether the new part number is to be entered in the device master database
This function observes the write rights for master data and can be deactivated.
If you wish to assign parts to symbols via drag & drop yet the symbols contain more than one part number, then you can obtain the assignment for this
function with the CTRL key pressed. You can then select to which one of the part numbers in the symbol the part is to be assigned.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4.0, you can now, in addition to the former terminal diagram creation by batch operation, also create online terminal diagrams
in relation to a project, a folder, a location or a strip. You can start this terminal diagram creation method in the item editor on terminal strips or higher-
level folders.
You can regenerate these online terminal diagrams without carrying out a complete wiring run. Moreover you can regenerate the terminal diagrams
automatically before opening them. You can use the Sort out function to delete terminal diagrams of no longer existing strips.
The creation and storage of the terminal diagrams is configured in the options. Essential for the configuration is the unambiguous assignment of the sheet
designation to the strip designation because otherwise the program can no longer find the terminal diagrams belonging to a strip.

Starting with version 7.4.0, the code numbers to be exempted from the revision can be stored in the revision settings. You can now enter up to 100 code
numbers whose change does from now on not trigger a revision.

When editing symbols of the types 1, 5 or 6, you can now search for parts intended for the symbol (for the first part number) also in the master data.
This function is available only if you work with a master database.
A second selection button [...] then appears after the first part number enabling a search for appropriate parts. For this selection, only parts are offered
that fit the symbol, i.e. parts that contain this symbol name in the master data.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN it is now possible to use two arbitrary code numbers in the range 1 ... 32767 for configuring the cross-reference setup.
When using an arbitrary code number in the cross-reference, you should by all means specify a separator in the settings. When you change the cross-
reference setup, the respective project is reconstructed and evaluated anew.

When entering a text in a mask or an input field, a question mark can be used to start the selection of a translate text. Up to now this was restricted to the
selection of a text from a translate file per input field.
In version 7.4.0, the selection options for translate texts have been expanded. By putting together translate references, separated by blanks, it is now
possible to select several translate texts from several language files.

The Replace function for texts has been expanded. You can now also
• use it to exchange free texts
• empty any existing texts
• specify the symbol type for the exchange
After the exchange the new texts become manual entries. The entries in the dialog are stored and offered as default values at the next activation.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4.0 you can now use a symbol to specify the technical / commercial attributes of several sub-devices or accessories and
transmit them to the parts lists. Up to now this was restricted per part number to the code numbers 149 (quantity) and 3050 .. 3059 (supplementary
information per part).
You can now use additional code numbers for each part number (code 80), whose contents if occurring repeatedly are adopted for the respective part
number in the parts list. For code numbers 1 .. 8 and several other system code numbers this function is not available.
The number of part numbers (code 80) and the attributes used several times in the symbol must be identical.
Example:
The first nominal current (code 31) for the first part number is transmitted from the symbol to the parts list.
The second nominal current (code 31) for the second part number is transmitted from the symbol to the parts list.

Before exporting lists to drawings, you can now delete all existing drawings in the drawing folder. When you create a smaller number of documents than
before, you do not have to manually remove the old lists.
To activate this function, set the following switch in the aucotec.ini:

For archiving projects, the switchover between different databases by means of daba_cfg is now taken into account.

With version 7.4.0 you can now use the graphic editing mode of a terminal diagram as the starting point to edit a terminal or strip symbol by a right
mouse click on the respective symbol, to start the terminal editor and to move to the selected terminal in the item editor.
If the strip or terminal is no longer evaluated, i.e. the terminal diagram would not be up to date, an error message is issued.

In the item editor you can now freeze all terminals of a project, of a location or of an individual strip in one step. The frozen terminals are shown in blue in
the item editor. Freezing prevents retrospective changes by automatic number assignment.
After the action you receive a message
• whether and if so how many strips and terminals have been frozen
• that strips were already frozen
• that strips are currently being edited by another user (e.g. in the terminal editor)

Whether or not a terminal strip is a standard strip can from version 7.4.0 on be set or cancelled in the terminal editor. Depending on this some functions
of the terminal editor are either blocked or enabled.
In the item editor, the terminal strips and all higher-order folders contain the menu item DELETE STANDARD STRIP (called with the right mouse button).
Only unused standard strips can be deleted.
After the deletion you receive a message
• whether and if so how many strips have been deleted
• that strips could not be deleted
• that strips are currently being edited by another user
Moreover you can use the menu item SAVE AS in the item editor to copy standard strips.

Up to now only two different terminal symbols could be used in a terminal diagram. However, this could not be used to display terminals belonging to the
same block.
In version 7.4.0 a third terminal symbol is now used, one that at the end of a terminal signals that the next terminal belongs to the same block.
To achieve correct sorting of the terminals for representation in the terminal diagram according to block and level, the terminal sorting options were
extended.

The unity of terminals which are displayed separately and wired can be traced in a printed documentation only if there are cross-references between the
individual partial representations. This is supported from version 7.4.0 on.
For this purpose add a dialog for the cross-reference (code 10) of the connector to each terminal connector (code 45). The cross-references are created
even if the symbol has not yet been evaluated.

By analogy to the freezing of terminals, starting with version 7.4.0 cores can also be frozen if the core information was assigned automatically.
Thus the core information is not assigned anew by the program following a possible reset.
For this purpose you find the menu items FREEZE CORES and UNFREEZE CORES in the item editor under Cables. On the Cable folder you can edit all cores
of all cables simultaneously. Cores can also be frozen and unfrozen via the menu items EXTRAS / AUTOMATIC in the working area Cable Management.
After freezing, the cores have the status "assigned manually" and are shown in blue in the item editor.

With the cable management being switched on, you can now increase the cross section by using two parallel cores between two connector points.

With version 7.4.0, you can switch over from the core in cable planning directly to the drawing with the core representation. At the same time the
associated cable is opened in the item editor.
For this purpose use a click with the right mouse button on a core in the core table to call the menu item PROPERTIES. By means of this new menu item
the drawing where the core is located is opened for editing, and the core is marked.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4.0 you can now use the menu items INSERT / PART in the graphics editing mode to also insert cables from the master data.
You can specify the core symbols to be used for the cables in EXTRAS OPTIONS / DRAWING / STANDARD SYMBOLS.
Upon actuating the menu item, the cable is selected from the predefined cable database. Once you have selected a cable, the preset core symbols are
offered for placement. Using the mouse wheel while simultaneously pressing and holding the Ctrl and Alt keys, you can switch between the specified core
symbols. The core symbol gets the default values from the cable master data when placed.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4.0, you can specify during the generation of a wiring list whether you want to use it later on for a device-related list of
connectors.
During the preparation of a device-related list of connectors, the program processes the structure of the wiring list with swapped connector destination
information in duplicate. Thus it is ensured that all connectors of a device are available on the right as well as on the left side of the connection.
With an appropriate output format it is possible to output a device-related list of connectors from these wiring lists as a list or a drawing.

In contents tables, manual entries can be kept with version 7.4.0. For this purpose the structure of the contents table is automatically extended by the
code number 5000 and filled. Data records not containing contents in code number 5000 are maintained during regeneration.
For contents tables not yet containing the code number 5000 you get a program message during regeneration telling you that additional entries may be
lost.
To ensure that code number 5000 is empty following manual list editing it is explicitly emptied.

an ActionError is recorded in the log file. The called action is entered with a note.

When outputting ELCAD / AUCOPLAN drawings in the DXF or DWG format, now the images (logos etc.) inserted into the drawings and symbols are also
output.
To restrict the file size, a maximum size is specified for the images to be output. The size can be adjusted via an ini switch, however.

With version 7.4.0, the graphic output in the DWG format has been extended by the versions AutoCAD 2005, 2006 and 2007.

For users who print their terminal data with the software package M-Print Pro from Weidmüller, ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.4.0 not only offers the interface but
can moreover start the M-Print Pro program, select the label material in the program and directly start the printer output.

With version 7.4.0 it is now possible to simultaneously export the layout of several terminal strips to the strip layout systems from Phoenix, Wago and
Weidmüller.
To do this, mark several terminal strips in the item editor, then select EXPORT STRIP LAYOUT in the context menu of the right mouse button.
In order to support several strips with the Weidmüller RailDesigner, this output has been converted to the current XML format.

When creating a compact PDF file from the Drawing tree, you can from version 7.4.0 on individually specify the folder and the file designation without
being bound to the settings for the PDF output.

Operate ELCAD / AUCOPLAN as client/server application via the Internet. ELCAD / AUCOPLAN then run as Web Service on a central server. You can
access the projects from any point of the world, provided that an Internet connection is at your disposal.
You have a project management with freely definable folder structures which you can freely organise in folders according to your requirements.
The projects are managed in a SQL database, where you can specify individual rights for arbitrary user groups.
You can provide your customers with a read-only access to the completed projects and simultaneously continue the projects in another branch invisible for
the customers.
In ELCAD Web you can allow or prevent a mixed operation of central licenses of your server with local licenses for the individual users.
In addition ELCAD Web offers extended search functions, by means of which you can search via the project properties or the part numbers used.

From ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.3.1 on you can use any Windows fonts and character sets. The restriction to the character sets delivered is totally abolished.

From version 7.3.1 on you can use Unicode character sets in ELCAD / AUCOPLAN. Your documentation for foreign customers and partners can thus be
created even more easily and efficiently. With just one setting, you can as required switch over to other languages permanently or only for a particular
printout. Even Chinese, Russian or Arabic texts are only a few mouse clicks distant.
This is made possible by an extension of the former Translate functionality. Manage your translation lists quite simply in EXCEL or with any ODBC-
compatible data source.
The most common European and Western fonts are already integrated in the default fonts. If these fonts are not sufficient or you must apply special East
Asian fonts the different Windows versions have to be prepared and additional fonts have to be installed. It is useful to consult your Administrator for this
step since you will need Administrator rights and the suitable operating system medium.

Do you want to hand over the projects to your contractors purely electronically? Or are the diagrams to be viewed and printed in other departments of
your company? No problem!
With version 7.3.1 you can as before install ELCAD any number of times without license and start it in the demo mode (projects with up to 8 drawings).
However, the new feature implies:
As soon as you use your license-free installation to open projects containing more drawings, the projects are automatically opened in the viewing
mode. You can view and print but not edit the diagrams. All of this without extra work and free of charge for transmission within your company and to
your customers. Available also as free download from the AUCOTEC homepage and available to your customers worldwide. Go and see for your self.

Do you need more than a simple viewing tool for your commissioning, maintenance and operative handling jobs? Then ELCADmaintenance is the right
choice for you. As a consistent technological advancement of the former ELCADview it offers you entirely new possibilities. You can purposefully follow up
your projects in the maintenance mode.
• Use all of your symbols, lines, texts, connections etc., with automatic redlining of all changes.
• Drawings that contain changes are automatically marked.
• Find all objects in the drawings tree and the item editor.
• Selective adoption or refusal of the redlining changes into the project and use of the revision management.

With ELCADfastwire, a powerful tool for length determination and cabinet wiring is at your disposal. In version 7.3.1, this solution has been supplemented
with a workshop-compatible wiring tool for the manufacturing sector.
This tool displays the wires in a large font. You can skip any wire or acknowledge it after carrying out the wiring. Moreover the operation can be carried out
entirely without the mouse.

Following a command language workshop with a large number of users, the collected requirements have been realized in version 7.3.1. For details please
refer to the chapter New Features in the Command Language below.

The PDF documents created with ELCAD have now been adapted to the new Acrobat Reader 7, which was published simultaneously with version 7.3.
Depending on the character set used the PDF documents have become even more compact.

The AUCOTEC Data Service has been augmented by a revision management. This enables you to deliberately update new versions of the components you
are using.
You can use the new function to check whether more recent versions of selected components are available via the AUCOTEC Data Service and then load
them immediately.

In response to many requests, ELCAD Studio has been extended to enable adoption of the sheet numbers from the templates when importing the template
function.

When ELCAD Studio was introduced, it was not possible to use different objects with identical item designations. With version 7.3.1 you can now specify
whether you want to permit identical designations under certain circumstances.

For cabinet wiring with ELCADfastwire you can now deliberately exempt components from wiring.

From version 7.3.1 on ELCAD/AUCOPLAN supports the code number 9 (mounting place) in forms and window symbols. The mounting place is not an
identifying attribute; rather, it serves as an additional description.
The mounting place can be handed over to terminal diagrams, terminal lists, parts lists, cable lists, cable assignment lists, wiring lists, connection lists and
contents tables.

The former function "Identify" has been extended and its use been considerably simplified. To determine the total designator of a device, all you have to
do now is to click with the left mouse button on a symbol in the drawing. The complete item designation is then displayed in the status line on the lower
left of the program window.
If you want to determine details of a device, use the function "Go To" on the right mouse button. This function opens the item tree and there displays all of
the components of the device. When you are working in the full-screen mode, the former function "Identify" is available as usual.

You can now specify whether you want to automatically evaluate symbols upon editing them.

To simplify the creation of complex symbols, the possibilities of code number 1000 have been extended. The symbol default value can now have a length
of up to 58 characters. Likewise each of the texts to be transmitted can have a length of 58 characters. The maximum data volume for the transmission is
254 characters. Moreover you can use a compact syntax by entering a range of code numbers.
To further improve the flexibility of the system, the code numbers 1001, 1002, 1004, 1005, 1007 and 1015 have been supplemented with new operators
for character strings.
The translation operator * allows you to translate dialog contents from translate texts. The substring operator [ ] enables you to access parts of a dialog.
The length operator # enables you to determine the length of a dialog.
The new operators can be used in combination.

Version 7.3.1 will enable you to generate a wiring list with destinations and yet a terminal diagram with jumper wires in one run.

The item editor as a central place for project editing has been considerably extended with version 7.3.1. Substructures of the various objects as well as a
large number of icons have been added there. You can easily navigate from this point to the associated circuit diagrams.

From version 7.3.1 on, additional menu items for I/O components in the item tree are available in the context menu (right mouse button). Here you can
now create new objects, rename and delete objects.

From version 7.3.1 on you can use any Unicode characters in ELCAD / AUCOPLAN (e.g. Russian or Chinese character sets). This is made possible by an
extension of the Translate functionality.
If you want to display languages that use Unicode characters in ELCAD, you can instead of the former translate files select an ODBC compatible UNICODE
file (e.g. UNICODE text file, EXCEL, ACCESS…). Files with several thousand texts in various languages and with different character sets are supplied.

Independent of your translate file settings in the project/user options, you can in all working areas activate test translate settings from version 7.3.1 on.
The translate test settings can e.g. be used for on-screen tests or quick outputs with differing language settings.

When using the new ODBC technology, you can use up to 999,999 translate numbers. Please note, however, that EXCEL is also limited to 65,535 lines.

A first stage of the new assignment list generator has already been presented with version 7.3. With version 7.3.1, you will now find this tool in an
extended and documented form. You can use this tool to supplement or customize the configuration of your PLC systems.
With this function you can automatically assign symbolic addresses of single bits to the absolute addresses of PLC cards. The first free absolute address is
assigned in each case.
Once the function has been executed, all non-assigned inputs/outputs are to be found at the end of the assignment list. You can then e.g. remove
unassigned cards.

You can now cancel linkages of PLC symbols to the assignment list that are no longer required.

Following a command language workshop in the fall of 2004, the following functions were added for command language users.

The documentation for the new dialogs of version 7.3 (file dialog, printer/plotter dialog) as well as for the ODBC translate technology of

2004.

With version 7.3.1, the EPL interface has been extended to support the EPLAN versions 5.5 / 5.6.

In cooperation with the Phoenix and Wago companies, in version 7.3.1 the strip layout interface has been changed over to the jointly developed XML
format. The more recent strip layout systems of the above-mentioned suppliers are equipped with this interface.

The ELCAD Studio manual describes the new functionality ELCAD Studio in its entirety. When you install ELCAD 7.3 without licenses, is starts as before in
the demo mode. Go and see for your self.
In the demo mode of ELCAD 7.3, you automatically get the full functionality of ELCAD Studio for a maximum of 8 drawings and 100 devices per project.

You can alphanumerically define and centrally change plants, functions, locations and devices independent of graphics and circuit diagram.
Representations are automatically updated.

In the item editor and in the ELCAD Studio view, you can directly change plants, functions and locations.

With version 7.3, ELCAD / AUCOPLAN offers you, both for listings and graphic outputs, Windows-compliant printer dialogs that also support the direct
selection of all Windows system printers.
Of course you can also continue to use your former printer configurations. The ELCAD graphic outputs HPGL, CANON etc. with their high speeds and
compact data volume can be used further on.
By popular request, multi-user access for master data and list editing has been introduced in ELCAD 7.3.
Whereas in previous versions device master data and lists were blocked while a user was editing individual data records, by contrast with ELCAD 7.3 multi-
user access to lists and device master data is possible for almost all editing actions.

When you change, add or delete individual data records, the lists are no longer blocked for other users. Import, export and outputs are also possible while
other users are editing the list.

The new access procedure offers you new editing liberties. However, it may now happen that several users simultaneously edit the same data. This may
lead to messages telling you that your changes are dismissed because someone else has meanwhile altered the same data record.
Moreover you should be prepared for waiting times and/or messages during data access if another user simultaneously accesses the desired data or if e.g.
the list is output at the same time.

As before, there are still functions for which multi-user access is not possible. These functions can only be executed if you have the exclusive access to the

Although ELCAD has long been offering planners a field-tested solution in the field of hydraulics / fluids, this solution is less well known. With ELCAD 7.3
this option now becomes an integral part of the ELCAD/AUCOPLAN product CD. ELCAD-Fluid supplements the ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7 solution with the field of
hydraulic construction.
On the one hand, ELCAD-Fluid is the solution for ELCAD customers in mechanical engineering and plant construction whose machines contain hydraulic
components. Hydraulic workshops that manufacture hydraulic aggregates and do not yet use a CAE system will also find ELCAD-Fluid to be the ideal
solution. On the other hand it also offers large companies offering hydraulic systems or mechanical engineering and plant construction companies a
balanced solution.
The concept of ELCAD-Fluid has been developed in practice for practical purposes and is characterized by easy and clear handling. It contains a
coordinated master data concept, the required symbols, forms, classifications and revision capability.
ELCAD-Fluid is offered in two configurations:
Existing ELCAD/AUCOPLAN workplaces
can be supplemented with Fluid Customizing. This creates a suitable user environment with an extensive symbol library, a toolbar, a sample project and
an up-to-date fluid master database.
ELCAD Fluid as stand-alone solution
creates an independent ELCAD-Fluid workplace including the required licenses. With 24 circuit diagrams per project there is a lot of room for fluid
planning. Apart from the ELCAD Professional functionality, integrated licenses for project archiving as well as for PDF and DWG output offer you all you
need in your field of work. The Fluid Customizing option described above rounds off the large performance range.

Version 7.3 supports the import of terminal information from Phoenix Clip Project.

With ELCAD / AUCOPLAN 7.3, the component transfer to the Beckhoff automation system TwinCat has been realized. TwinCat must be present at least in
the revision 2.9 (1020). A license for the AUCOTEC Hardware Configuration Link is required for this transfer.

If you have used the sorting number (code 3031) for the potentials in the ELCAD project, the ELCAD potential sorting is also transferred to AUCOTECview.
