1. INTRODUCTION This document provides information to help you use Nokia PC Suite. It deals with last-minute additions and changes to the user documentation, compatibility issues and possible problem causes. For a more detailed description on how to deal with certain problems that you may encounter with, please refer to the User's Guide for PC Suite. Nokia PC Suites can be used with various compatible Nokia mobile phones. However, not all Nokia PC Suite features and applications can be used with all phone models. For more information on your phone's features, as well as the phones supported by each Nokia PC Suite, refer to Nokia web pages: www.nokia.com/pcsuite. <back> 2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS To install and run Nokia PC Suite, you need the following: A PC with Windows 2000 or Windows XP (Professional or Home Edition) At least 150 - 250 MB of free disk space (depending on the size of the installation package) A compatible Nokia mobile phone An IrDA (infrared) port in the computer, or a connection cable (DKU-2, DKU-5 or CA-42 depending on the phone model) and a compatible port in the computer, or a compatible Bluetooth connection. The connection cables are available separately. To use Nokia PC Sync, you need a compatible PC Personal Information Manager application (Lotus Organizer 5.0, Lotus Organizer 6.0,

Lotus Notes 5.0, Lotus Notes 6.x, Microsoft Outlook Express (Windows Address Book) or Microsoft Outlook 98/2000/2002/2003) To use the help functionality with Nokia PC Suite, you need Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer. To use the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver with PC Suite, you need Service Pack 3 or newer for Windows 2000 and Service Pack 1 or newer for Windows XP. Only operating systems that have been preinstalled by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) are supported. It is recommended that you install the PC Suite with the same language that the operating system on your PC. <back>

COMPATIBILITY NOTES 3.1 Data applications If you want to use your Nokia phone as a modem, you must select "Nokia mobile phone (IrDA)", "Nokia mobile phone (Cable)" or "Nokia mobile phone (Bluetooth)" as the modem in the data application you are using. 3.2 Language version During the installation, the Nokia PC Suite Setup program prompts you to select which language version of Nokia PC Suite will be installed. If you have a PC Personal Information Manager installed on your PC, and you want to use it with Nokia PC Sync, it is recommended that you select the same language that the PC Personal Information Manager is using. 3.3 Phone hardware/software The PC Suite is intended to be used with the Nokia mobile phone, and IrDA connection, cable connection or Bluetooth connection. It is not possible to use Nokia PC Suite applications during a data call. In order to make data call the connection method(s) must be deactivated at Nokia Connection Manager. Nokia PC Suite is fully functional only after you have connected your Nokia mobile phone to the PC. 3.4 Installation Install Nokia PC Suite to path that contains only the characters which belong to US-ASCII character set. If you have Nokia PC Suite 4.x. on your computer, it is recommended that you uninstall it before installing Nokia PC Suite 6.x. All the functions of

Nokia PC Suite 4.x cannot be used if there is a newer version of the product on the PC. <back>

4. LAST-MINUTE ADDITIONS AND CHANGES TO THE USER DOCUMENTATION 4.1 Important safety notes To avoid any potential loss of data, you should not use your Nokia mobile phone while synchronizing data between the phone and a PC. <back>
