Chapter 1
Destruction….

Comes to those who do not learn from history and are bound to repeat them.

Death….

Reigns in the hearts and souls of every single creature on this wretched land.

Fear….
Fear is something that everyone has, whether old or young, big or small, rich or
poor, human or animal……

Love….

Doesn‟t exist.

=================================================

Amidst the raging fire that was set to the castle, blazing it alight, sounds of shouting
echoed through the large never ending halls of Pico de la Nieve, banging swords and
the crackling of fire continued to seethe on.

The knights were tasked to raise the castle to the ground, to leave nothing behind, to
wipe out everything. They were known as the Vampire hunters of old, and their very
responsibility meant the safety of the villagers in the town. It was something that had
sworn to do after their solemn oath- fight with honor, or die trying.

As they raised their swords, a large swarm of bat like creatures burst through the
ceilings and tinted window circling them like vultures to their carcasses. There was
no way out, it was either live, or die and in the midst of them, stood a man, draped in
black clothing, flowing all the way to his feet. His eyes were piercing red as he stared
on at the trapped knights and smirked.

“Death.” He muttered before the swarm of creatures made their dive, picking out the
knights individually. It was a terrible mess as they dug their claws into flesh ripping
anything they could lay their hands on. Blood splatter across the halls, against walls.
One by one, the knights dwindled to a staggering handful. They were clearly
outnumbered and their target was clearly still standing. Determined to fight for
honour, their leader reared his horse and charged in the direction of the talk dark
figure at the end of the hall, drawing his spear.

The tip of it gleamed as the moonlight hit the silver coated metal but it was futile and
even before he reached the man, a cold death grasp enclosed around his neck, lifting
him off his horse, higher and higher into the air.

“I applauded your bravery, weakling, but… alas….” The Vampire‟s lips played into a
coy smile before tightening his grip on the knight‟s neck, the bones cracking echoing
though the large halls. “Your death draws near.”

Terribly beaten and injured, the other knights watched as their leader fell under the
hands of their one true nemesis, the Vampire- Dracula as his fingers tightened
cracking every bone in his neck before shoving him away like a rag doll. He brushed
off the dust on his hands and grinned, those razor sharp canines gleaming against the
back drop of moonlight. He raised a hand and pointed it in the direction of the last
knight standing, bloody and beaten.

“All in good time, I‟ll give you a choice-“He began. “Come to us.”

The knight girthed his teeth and spat on the floor.

“I‟d rather die than join a wicked creature like you!”

Dracula laughed, ironic and full of double meanings. “Then die!” and as though on
his order, the bat like creatures swooped down towards the beaten knight, screeching
at him, claws bared ready to tear the man apart. With that he closed his eyes, before
muttering under his breath- his death was nigh. However nothing happened and as
he opened his eyes, they came like a call from nowhere.

He had hope, he had backup. More knights came ridding in, in stallions of all sizes,
their blades gleaming with glory.

Dracula merely snorted and the swarm of creatures directed their attention to the
mob. It was an all out war again as sharp metal meet razor claws and bloodshed
stained the floors of the castle. One by one, the creatures started to fall as those
blades laced with silver sliced through their thick hides, turning them into ashes. The
clothed figure balled his fist as they closed in on him. He lowered himself into a
predatory position and sprung at them seeing he had to take matters into his own
hands and again, none of them were a match for him.

He ledged himself onto the horse of one of the knights, digging his claws into the
flesh before throwing himself on to the man, where he sank his teeth into his neck
ripping his jugular out then without hesitation, he leaped off the latter and landed
boot first on the other‟s chest kicking him in the direction of the large pillar,
shattering it into pieces of debris.

All happened too fast for the rest to anticipate his movements and they swung their
swords about wildly hoping to at least get him. None of them did and sounds of
desperate screaming rang through the large halls. Thrusting his hands through one
of the knight‟s chest, he lifted him off the horse and chucked him to a side before
licking off the residue blood on his hands and aimed for the rest. As he made for the
last one, a bright light blinded his vision and he leaped back hissing in anger. The sun
hadn‟t risen but it was brighter than one and he yanked his cloak up to shield his eyes.
He felt a rosary tangle itself around his wrist and clenched his teeth trying to pull it
thwart to snap it but he felt the strength draining from him as the rosary glowed
bright yellow.

“For this treachery you shall spend and eternity imprisoned in your own castle,
Dracula. Your time is up!”

-------------------------------------

Present Venice….

“Come on… Give me a break okay?” A boy shot his hands up in the air as though to
surrender. “Animals get killed every day by wild animals. You don‟t expect me to
arrest a wolf or a fox do you?”
The boy turned and huffed staring at the remains of what was supposed to be a goat.
It was true wild animals would slip in unawares to pick on unsuspecting live stock
and cattle and he felt like he had a handful of complaints about that. None of them
seemed legitimate cases and he groaned. His job as a detective was not going out well
as he thought. Go figure.

“Get that cleaned up and head back to the station.” The boy called out to his men.

“Yes sir!”

As he got back to the station, he propped his foot onto the table and lay back
stretching his stiff neck muscles. It was a boring and unfruitful day and he wanted no
more of it.

“Detective ChangMin.” One of the police officers asked as he walked into his office.

The boy looked at him and rose a brow.

“Yes?”

“They‟re at it again.”

ChangMin groaned before grabbing his coat and heading out the door. “Don‟t do
anything till I get back!” He ordered and with that he raced to the place. As expected
a few boys were peering around the dark domains of what was left of the Castle Nieve.
It was already run down, and no one inhabited the place as it was rumoured to be
plagued by blood sucking creatures known presently as a Vampire. The boys had
tried to pry open the bars that were nailed to the gates in order to keep out the towns
people and keep whatever was in there, well… in.

“YAH!” ChangMin shouted as he poked his head out of the car window. “ARE YOU
MAD?!”

The boys turned as they heard the detective holler and stuck out their tongues at him
showing that he couldn‟t do anything and true enough he couldn‟t. ChangMin cursed
under his breath and got out of his car before stomping over and pulling them by
their shirts.

“Fucking kids nowadays.” He mumbled as he dragged them away, causing them to

whine in succession. He then turned and glared at time determined to drive home his
point. “WHICH PART OF „KEEP AWAY‟ DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?!”

“We‟re just curious!” One of the boys yelled back at him.

“Ajjushi, stop being so old fashion.” The other backed the first up.

“Yeah!”

“YOU!” ChangMin hollered raising a hand as though he was going to beat the crap
out of them and they cringed before running away.
He sighed before walking back to his car, not before he turned and peered at the
gloomy black castle that stood there. Secrets that the place held were never known,
but ChangMin had an eerie feeling something else was lurking in the corners of the
castle walls. Something else other than Dracula.

“Chi, he‟s such a nag.” The boy whom ChangMin scolded previously declared.

“Tell me about it.”

“He‟s gone, let‟s go.”

As they closed in on the castle gates, one of them took out a crowbar and with a heave,
successfully pried the wooden plank away. He did the same for the other three and
the three daring teens made their way silently through the gates.

As soon as they did, a cold gust of wind had their hair standing on end but none of
them backed down as they continued to venture closer and closer to the large
looming door of the castle. It was a large intimidating door, with two flaps and an
arch, all made of metal. Luckily (in this case woe) for them, the door was left slightly
ajar allowing room for them to squeeze past. Their jaws dropped as the large interior
of the castle greeted their sight. Intricate designs laced the pillars that held the castle
ceilings up, the floor was still rather stony and hard. The windows were tinted over
preventing even the slightest amount of light from passing through. I was like some
gothic building as they saw it.

As they slowly made their way to a chamber, dust was kicked up as they continued
down the large halls.

“Hey guys!” One of them called out. “Look at this!”

As curiously took the better of them, the all gathered around a structure or more like
a casing before they realised that what they were actually looking at was a coffin. On
top of it was engraved „Dracula‟.

One of them rose a finger and rubbed the outlines of the engravement catching a
little of the cob web that had stuck to it. They stared at it for a while before looking at
each other in enthusiasm and their curiosity grew tenfold.

“What if we opened the lid?” One of them asked.

“I don‟t know, you know how they talked about those blood sucking creatures?”

“Nonsense, have you seen one?”

Seeing no harm what so ever, they placed their hands on the lid and threw it open
hoping to find what they were looking for.

The coffin was rather empty on the contrary.

“See what I told you? Chun Hei your coward.”

Seeing the empty coffin, the boy chuckled and the other followed.

“I was afraid for nothing.” He declared, but he shivered as another gust of wind blew
past them, then there was a particular scratching sound and the echo off laughter.

The hair on the back of Chun Hei‟s neck stood on end as the laughter bounced off the
walls making them seem like they were coming from anywhere and everywhere. He
spun around to pin point the source of the sound and his two other friends trembled
with fear.

“Guys I think we should –!” His sentence was cut off by a hand that grabbed the back
of his neck lifting him off the ground. He struggled in that death grip as the hold on
him started to tighten. He screamed as two long fangs pierced into his neck drawing
the blood out of his veins slowly and painfully until nothing was left of his lifeless
corpse. The figure threw him to a side and made its way for the other two.

“An eon of sleep, I‟m hungry……”

They never came out, as their pathetic screams of pain rang through the halls
shriving into lifeless rags of nothing. Then the figure disappeared out into the dark
night, the freedom of being awake never felt so enticing.

But…..

He wasn‟t the only one. Something else had escaped too. It had escaped from its
bond deep within his castle. Something that Dracula himself doesn‟t even know
about.

Scratching and screeching…..

Chapter 2
“Cold night for rounds huh?” One of the police officers asked as he round a bend,
ChangMin following close behind.

ChangMin chuckled. “Tell me about it.”

The night was rather frosty since winter had already arrived and the wind that blew
in their direction was a match to the cold air around them. Snowflakes had started to
fall, blanketing the ground in white crystals. The rooftops of houses were also
covered in icicles and slush. They made their way around the streets making sure
that they did their job unaware of what was watching them silently.

-------

“I don‟t understand why these animals are so spooked-“One of the barn owners
scratched his head as he tried to calm one of his horses that had lashed out at him
tugging at the reigns that held it to the poles.
“Why‟d you say that?” ChangMin asked as he placed his hands on the horses‟ mane to
stroke it.

The barn owner huffed and yanked at the reigns again.

“She doesn‟t normally get scared unless there‟s a wolf on the loose. Also, the other
animals as well.”

ChangMin rose a brow and strolled around the barn, trying is best to figure out what
was wrong. Although it didn‟t seem like his job, but he since he didn‟t have much
legitimate cases, this would do. He peered under the steps of the coop. Nothing.

“When do they get spooked?” He asked.

“I‟m not sure, but mostly in the night.” The barn owner merely gave him that
information, but his tone sounded like he was leaving something out.

Sighing, he nodded at the information and left the man to himself, still puzzling over
the situation and seeing there was nothing much to do, he left for the town‟s
salon. The bar wasn‟t far from where he was and he sat down for a drink. His partner,
the officer sat down beside him, rather good company.

“Did he tell you what happened?”

“Nah, he was rather secretive. He told me it‟s normally at night that the barn animals
get spooked. Seemed like an animal, doesn‟t seem like one, but there hasn‟t been a
wolf attack incident for weeks.” ChangMin told him as he sipped on his drink.

His partner patted him on the shoulder and nodded his head before leaving him for
the drink bar. As he did, a man walked past him when their eyes locked on each other.
Unknowingly the officer slowed his paced down as those eyes captured his vision.
They gleamed under the lights hanging off the ceilings, emphasizing the pure cyan
pupils of the other man. A faint smile crept from the side of his lip as he walked past
the officer but the other problem was that his scent that followed was rather enticing
and alluring. Snapping out of his daze the officer shook his head and got to the drink
bar before grabbing a couple of shots and heading back to ChangMin.

“Where‟d you go? China?” ChangMin joked as the officer sat down.

“I went to get us drinks.” The officer retorted pushing a shot cup to him and
ChangMin downed his drink instantly.

They spend around half an hour chatting over their beverage. He uninterestedly
scanned the bar, still keeping himself on his toes, still doing his job. His partner
laughed seeing ChangMin‟s actions and draped his hands over his shoulder.

“Relax, night out, no crime, we slack.” He droned, showing he was rather drunk.
ChangMin‟s snorted as his eyes landed on the hoard of shaking bodies on the dance
floor, grinding against each other and shook his head before turning his attention
back to his partner.

Neither did he know….

“Mind if we danced?” One of the guys on the dance floor approached a rather slander
figure clad in black with ebony black hair that parted to the side, emphasizing
volume, pure white skin, red lips, uninterested eyes.

The man smiled faintly as hands wrapped around his waist as they started to rock to
the beat of the club and as they continued to move to the rhythm, those hands moved
lower almost reaching for his ass, but the man in his arm tightened his grip around
his neck jerking him closer giving no chance for him to do whatever he wanted to in
the first place.

The larger man chortled seeing the other‟s unwillingness to being groped so he left
that position to tangle his arms around the man‟s hips again as he felt lips slip past
his ears, the tingling breath ghosting down his neck further downwards.

“You smell nice….” He smaller man mumbled against his neck, as he traced his
tongue on the vein that jutted out from his skin and the stranger jerked a little feeling
the cold appendage wet his skin. He felt those long slander fingers tighten around the
back of his neck and lost himself as the smaller man pressed his body closer to his
clothed one.

All too sudden, he felt a sharp stinging sensation on the surface of his skin, but his
reactions started to slow down as that same feeling penetrated deeper into his flesh.
He wanted to cry out, to scream but as he felt his own energy being draw out together
with his blood, his arms felt limp around the smaller man‟s side. As the smaller man
opened his eyes, those cyan blue pupils burned pure white, distorting into a thin line
as he sucked the man dry. With that done, he let the lifeless corpse go, causing it to
fall to the floor in a „thud‟ garnering the attention of the other dancers on the floor.

One by one, they backed away and in no time broke out into a frenzy of screams but
the man merely grinned faintly and licked his lips of the residual blood on his plump
lips. The commotion had ChangMin jerking off his seat and snapping his head in the
direction of the mess. In the middle of the crowd, he spotted that rather calm and
composed emotionless face of a pretty boy. He creased his eyebrows and glared in his
direction, unsure of what had happened, but something told him that man in the
crowd had something to do with it. Instinctively he sprung forward into a dash
towards the mess of oncoming people.

He cursed under his breath as they brushed past him giving him no choice but to
force his way through.

“Stop right there! “ He ordered as they ran past him, trying to escape, his eyes
constantly fixed on that face in the crowd as he turned to leave. He never got to him,
and by the time he managed to squeeze through, the figure was gone, just like a ghost.
All that was left behind was merely a lifeless corpse that lay on the floor looking
rather repelling.

He squatted down to take a good look at it as his partner made his way by his side.

“Damn.”

“Tell me about it.”

“Did you see who did this?” He asked as he nudged the head of the dead man to the
side, revealing two rather deep wounds. “What‟s this?”

ChangMin shook his head and heaved a sigh. “Doesn‟t look animal to me.” Then he
got up and walked out of the bar trying to find whatever he was looking for, when he
felt a cold sensation on the back of his neck followed by arms that wrapped around
his waist. They shifted lower and so did the coldness around him. He felt something
ghost across his shoulder and heard a low whisper.

“Human….”Was its spine chilling murmur, but ChangMin plucked his courage and
spun around only to find that the figure had disappeared.

What was that? He thought to himself, and like the previous nights, he had the
creeping suspicion that someone else was watching him.

-----

The tall buildings that were scattered throughout the town were a good perching post
for its unexpected visitor- Dracula.

Though it was snowing heavily, visibility was no problem to him as he walked on the
edge of the rooftop of a building overlooking the city. His cloak caught the updraft of
the wind and it flowed along with it. No doubt this age in time was still no match for
his prowess, however it was still a new world to him, a whole new era, but that didn‟t
stop him from adapting to it. His sense of smell pricked up and he creased his
eyebrows before the sides of his lips curved into a smile. Seems he had found what he
was looking for.

He heard someone clear his throat and looked over his shoulder.

“Sir-“A man in uniform called out as he walked closer towards Dracula. “Please step
off the edge and come down.” He said almost in a calm voice, like he was expecting
the man to jump or something. He inched towards the Vampire holding out his
hands, trying to make as if he was going to catch him if he felt.

Dracula merely looked at him, finding that he looked rather comical and chortled
before disappearing off the ledge and appearing behind him in a flash. Pushing his
palm to the man, he simply knocked him out.

“How finite your thinking is.” He murmured before vanishing into the night sky.
------

ChangMin sat in his office, tapping his pen against the paper he so swore to do a
report on, but nothing came to his mind. The only thing he remembered was that
pale ghost like complexion of the man. He closed his eyes and leaned back, squeezing
them.

All too sudden, he felt something cold on his neck before disappearing and threw his
eyes open, only to find a pair of cyan eyes staring down at him from the ceiling. He
jerked up, almost falling off the chair as the figure landed on his desk.

The room was too dark to get a good look at the figure and neither did he know when
the lights had turned off. He scrambled for the gun under his desk but the figure
jumped at him before it opened its mouth, and ChangMin got a good look of what
was hidden underneath -two pairs of long canines, gleaming under the moonlight.
He heard a snarl followed by a shattering of this window panel before he turned to
notice another heavily cloaked figure.

His mind spun as the enticing scent of the form on the desk in front of him
penetrated his nostrils and he felt frozen on the spot as the other figure drew closer
and closer. He heard another growl before it evolved into a screech.

“Chiroptera.” ChangMin heard as he turned to see the other figure advancing

towards them.

He heard another hiss of defiance then the weight that had held him down
disappeared together with a gust of wind. Immediately he got to his feet and threw
the lights on, only to find an empty office. Beads of sweat were already rolling down
his forehead by the time he figured it out and he sunk to the floor in exhaustion.

Chapter 3
The wind whizzed pass Dracula‟s cloak as he tore after the flying creature in front of
him, both their speeds a match for each other.

He heard a hiss and other vanished before his eyes before appearing on top of him. It
made a dive downward slamming into him sending both of them crashing towards
the ground. Scrunching his nose, the Vampire threw an arm around the other‟s body
flipping their positions so that now the Chiroptera‟s back faced the pavement below.

They smashed into the concrete below creating a scene. People around the vicinity
watched out of curiosity as both vampires brawled on the broken pavement and as
they did, Dracula managed to roll over throwing the other into a brick wall, cracking
it.

Furious, the Chiroptera scrambled off the wall and slammed head first into him
where they clawed at each other on the ground. As more people on the opposite end
of the street gathered, the winged vampire spat a hiss in Dracula‟s face before turning
tail for a single victim on the other side of them. Dracula cluck his tongue and
reached for its tail and pulled on it, causing it to jerk back to him before the latter
decided to return its attack at him.

With that Dracula lifted it off the floor and slammed it into the wall, bulling thought
it like Styrofoam. Crashing out of the other side, they took to the air, both of them
hissing at each other. Not letting up, the Chiroptera dug its claws into the other‟s
cloak ripping it at the seams before wrapping its tail around his waist, using the long
appendage to its advantage. They dove even higher into the air out of sight from the
people below as they continued to fight it out.

Deciding this was going nowhere, Dracula did the best thing he could think of- a knee
to the gut. The winged Vampire didn‟t seem to budge and it grabbed the side of
Draucla‟s arm digging its claws in before ripping flesh out. Probably to ordinary eyes,
it didn‟t seem like a fight, rather it seemed like a dance in mid air as they whizzed to
and froth, in a blur of colors, that was before Dracula shoved the Chiroptera into an
abandon building not far away.

Crashing through the rubble, it groaned before rolling onto its arms for support that
was before it lunched at Dracula delivering an uppercut to his lower jaw. Even before
Dracula could recover from the back lash, the Chiroptera grabbed his arm and
yanked him forward before using its head as a battering ram against his gut. Dracula
hissed as the numbing pain shot through his body but he reached down and grabbed
a handful of hair and gave it the same pain inducing knee to the gut. With that both
Vampires grabbed at each other gain spinning off the floor before landing against a
loosely bound wall. It shook as they slammed against it and Dracula threw a fist in its
face only for it to dodge out of his way, the fist breaking a hole in the wall before
smashing into pieces. If the place was run down, their tussle made it even more in a
shamble. That was before Dracula grabbed the winged vampire by its hips and
shoving it into the opposite wall.

Not wanting to give in, the Chiroptera extended its wings only to get them pinned
against the wall by the other. He hissed in Dracula‟s hold as he leaned forward to
whisper something into its ears.

“It‟s been a long time since we fought like that.” His cold breath ghost against the
winged vampire‟s ears. What he got in return was a rather off handed hiss, thought it
seemed half hearted still pressed against the brick wall.

“I won‟t say the same for you.” It reluctantly replied as it slowly shifted back into
human form still squirming in Dracula‟s hold. “You‟ve grown soft.”

Dracula cluck his tongue and pressed closer.

“All in good time my Chiropetra, all in good time.” He murmured.

------

ChangMin lay motionless in his bed. The visions of those cold eerie eyes flashed
across his eyes making him jerk up. He ruffled his hair and groaned. Ever since that
night, it had been giving him insomnia. That scent that he had taken a whiff of was
very much still lingering around in his subconscious mind, replaying the scene over
and over again like a broken tape recorder. He shook his head sharply, but he almost
jumped when his dog jumped onto bed beside him.

He heaved a sigh of relief feeling rather silly to be spooked by his own pet. Even so,
he couldn‟t get the memory of a near death experience out of his mind. He hopped off
bed and booted up his computer before keying in the exact word that he had heard
the night before.

„Chiropetra‟.

As he clicked search, images of winged creatures popped out. Some of them seemed
rather ghastly with long fangs, and bloody mouths, where others had really big bat
ears on the side of their heads, but none of them had the exact same thing that he
saw, or didn‟t see. He didn‟t give up though, as he continued to scroll through the
images that his search engine had offered him. Below, some of the pictures that he
found still didn‟t look like it. There were more pictures of bats and vampire bats but
none of them matched his memories. Still he was determined to solve the mystery of
his assailant.

When he clicked the second page, a rather familiar image popped out at him. The
creature in the image had cyan white eyes with pupils that looked snake like, two
long bloody fangs so he clicked the link and a string of words appeared on the new
screen. It looked like an essay or rather a description of the creature. However there
was something else he noticed below the comment box. It stated „don‟t be fooled by
their appearance at first glance, Chiropetras are hauntingly beautiful. They can dig
into your deepest darkest desires…..‟

His hair stood on end at the last sentence and closed the site before clasping his
fingers together placing his elbows onto the desk and pondering over it when his
thoughts ran all the way back to the night at the bar, where he remembered a certain
face he saw amidst the crowd of frenzied patrons. That very one standing there, calm,
pretty faced, pale. He shook his head sharply as his thoughts swirled into a jumble
mashing into each other, slowly fitting into each other like a jigsaw puzzle. Suddenly
everything seemed to make sense. The man at the bar, the dead patron, the spooked
animals, the terrifying night in his office, the description. He shot out of his chair
and snatched his coat of the wrack before heading out the door. If sleep wasn‟t going
to embrace him, he‟d rather go investigate.

ChangMin found himself wondering along the dimly lilted streets unsure of what he
was going to do. He whipped out his cell phone and dialed his partner.

At the first ring his partner picked up the phone and yawned into it.

“Hello?”

“Seungi ah, I was just wondering, about that incident at the bar.”

“Uh-huh? What about it?”

“You know I actually did some research and yeah, I sorta found something that might
be related.”

ChangMin clipped the phone to his ear and fumbled around his pocket for a pen and
a piece of paper when something came to mind.

“I‟m awake, come over.”

ChangMin got the phone back to his hands and pressed it to his ears. He didn‟t even
notice as he brushed past another person walking in the opposite direction, a second
person following behind him.

As they did, the detective got a whiff of the other man clad in black. It was almost
sweet, like lilac. He radiated a cold aura off his body and ChangMin noticed a faint
little smirk off his lips, like the one he saw in the bar a few nights before, the
memories of the shriveled distorted corpse started to surface along with all the other
whirling thoughts and questions. Immediately his eyes shot open in realization and
spun back only to come face to face with an empty street.

“I swear I saw something.” ChangMin murmured under his breath as he turned back
towards his intended direction.

--------

Two weeks ago, an earth quake shook the town of small Venice, at the same time; it
rocked the foundations of Castle Neive.

A century ago, ancient Venice had been terrorized by a series of horrifying attacks,
each one leading to the conclusion that it was a vampire attack an without the
courage of the villagers in the land, no one had dare to go head to head with those
creatures of the dark who only sot after human blood and nothing else. They had
pale skin and beautiful features but under that exterior lay a darker secret.

However not all of them were similar. According to the villagers there, they had
levels, or classes, one of them known as the present day Dracula and though the
others were lesser known, some of them were named as the „pale ones‟.

They were more or less described as really creamy white skin with lips as red as
cherry and to top it off, they gave off a rather fragrant scent. However under their
skin kept a form more fearsome than that of Dracula‟s. They were half human and
half vampire but their thirst for human blood made them less human like.

Under the stone flooring and the creepy demeanor of the castle lay two dark secrets
that were kept from the world. They were bound there to never walk the earth
again because of the chaos that they brought after them. Chains that bound the
Chiropetra had kept it under the castle preventing it from escaping. The binds that
were thought sturdy strong happened to crack under the intense shaking of earth
causing it to awaken from its eternal slumber setting it free.

--------
Chapter 4
As ChangMin sat down at the living room of his partner, Seungi, images of the man‟s
faint smirk flashed across his mind and though his spine crawled at the thought, he
dared not say it out. After a few years, rumors of the town being plagued by Vampires
had already started to die down and no one would believe that there was such thing
as a blood sucker, but ChangMin thought otherwise. What if there was a possibility
that they had broken free? What if they were already walking amongst them? What
if….

Seungi noticed the detective deep in thoughts and tapped his fingers against the
keyboard, when ChangMin snapped out of his own thoughts and turned to the officer.

“Seungi ah, what if those attacks weren‟t animal at all?” He asked out of the blue.

“Not animal? What do you mean?”

“You know, like that kind.” He side eyed the computer screen, where it had so
coincidently displayed a series of Vampire pictures. His partner turned to the screen
and looked back at him incredulously.

“You‟re joking right?”

“What if I‟m right?” ChangMin challenged before his partner broke out into a hearty
laughter.

“Minnie, there hasn‟t been this kind of reports or stories in ages!”

“But what if-“ ChangMin cut himself off and bit his lower lip.

------

Not far from them, horses lay asleep in their positions when one of them lifted their
heads into the air. One by one, they started to stir from sleep as they began to notice
a change in the air around them. The padded around anxiously, when one of them
reared up in a loud neigh followed by a series of flapping wings.

The horses started to panic, sensing that a predator was in their midst. They pulled at
their reigns when the Chiropetra ledged itself onto one of the horses sinking its teeth
into its neck, instantly drawing blood out, flesh together. The sound of a whining
horse echoed through the barn waking the owner instantly. He shot out of bed and
grabbed the nearest thing next to his bed side which indecently was a shot gun.

As he closed in on his own barn, his eyes caught sight of pale and creamy skin
finished off with a tail and huge bat like wings. He gasped as he realized what he was
dealing with before digging into his pocket and pulling out a rosary. Then he bravely
barged into the barn, shot gun in one hand and the accessory in the other.

“Be gone!” He boldly shouted causing the creature to turn, fangs bloody and hissing
at him. The owner‟s face turned pale when he took a good look at the creature‟s full
form and his knees shook in place. Nevertheless, he stuck out his rosary hand, still
shuddering and waved it around like an idiot. “Go back to where you came from!” He
managed.

The winged Vamp merely stared at the man‟s silly action and its‟ lips curled into a sly
smirk as it got off its prey, half done and strutted towards the man in front of him
still trembling in place.

“Stay away!” He screamed.

He jumped when two cold fingers wrapped around his face, the sharpness of claws
scraping against his skin, drawing lines. He found himself paralyzed when the
Chiroptera‟s breath ghost across his face, numbing him. All he could do was stare
blankly as the creature shifted back to human form with its beautiful big blue eyes,
cherry lips and haunting scent. It leant closer and whispered “I want to hear you
scream when I tear you apart…” before licking a line up his neck.

The man quivered and trembled in place trying desperately to move his feet.

It hummed against the skin there before digging it‟s fangs in. Momentarily, the man
managed to move his arm before a shot of a gun was heard followed by a high pitched
screech as the Chiroptera stumbled backwards releasing its grip on his body. It
hissed and surveyed the area the bullet had penetrated before scrunching its nose in
disgust. The bullet merely came out like nothing had happened, flesh instantly
healing. Then it launched itself onto the man again.

“You‟re never neat when you eat, JaeJoong.” It heard a rather familiar voice and side
eyed the remains of the human still in his hands.

“Not seeing you complaining about that.” The Chioptera mused as it floated around
Dracula breathing down his neck. He chuckled lowly and spun to grab his beauty by
the waist jerking him closer staring into his eyes.

“I don‟t remember me having a name.”

“Not satisfied with it?”

“I didn‟t specify.”

“Hmmm….Miss the human you, mi amor.” Dracula hummed as he pulled the

Chiroptera closer, nipping at its jugular roughly causing a slight whimper to escape
its throat, his body instantly reacting to the close proximity of their bodies. Wrapping
his hand around Dracula‟s neck JaeJoong pulled himself closer before Dracula found
his lips and both of them battled it out furiously, teeth and tongue.

A low growl escaped Dracula‟s throat as Jae‟s sharp teeth bit into his lower lip,
licking and sucking the blood that oozed out of the wound, he faintly tasted his own
fluid in his mouth, but he didn‟t care, smirking against the Chiroptera‟s lips.
“Insatiable are you?” He asked as the JaeJoong tightened his grip on the Vampire‟s
neck. He flattened himself against Dracula forcing him backwards, against wooden
wall of the barn and dug his claws in, leaving dents in the material.

He gasped when the Vampire snuck his hand under his blood soaked shirt, rubbing
against his chest.

“Yunho, Yunho, Yunho~~” The Chiroptera chanted as those hands slipped down
again around his waist, trailing down his back. He sucked furiously on Dracula‟s
tongue before nipping at it.

“Decided to call my name now have you?” Dracula asked as he let go of Jae lips in
order to tease the side of his neck, his nose tracing the perfect lines there. He exhaled
and Jae shuddered even when cold air hit his icy skin. Then he bit down, hard and
JaeJoong let out a sharp moan as fangs slid under his skin. All Jae could do was to
cling on to him digging his claws into his back and scratching.

“Ahhhhh-“He exhaled feeling the sensation of his own blood being drawn out slowly
yet leisurely. Dracula promptly jerked away before meshing his lips onto Jae‟s again,
smearing some of his blood on Jae‟s bottom lip. The Chiroptera eagerly lap up the
residual, rolling temptingly against the Vamprie‟s body. With that Dracula grinned
wolfishly and tackled Jae to the ground.

-----------------

A century ago….

Dracula looked down from his castle balcony at night, watching the many people
going about their activities. They seemed too carefree and oblivious that a Vampire
existed and walked in their midst. Despite that, Dracula himself was alone to himself
and although he had all the power he needed, he couldn‟t set foot into the sunlight.
He spent the mornings coped up in his gloomy dark castle haunting the huge walls of
the Nieve. As he watched the humans enjoy themselves with the ones they so loved,
his heart ached and longed for company. But not just any kind of company, he longed
for a soul mate.

Disguising himself as an ordinary commoner, he set foot in the town he had looked
down upon night after night. No one there noticed that he was different. He looked
like any other human being. Noticing a rather interesting event going on in the
village, he decided to take a good look.

As he squeezed through the crowd, he heard the clanging of cymbals and musical
instruments being played. All of it blended into a melodious harmony of sounds. The
sides of his lips lifted a little seeing how the humans entertained themselves. His ears
pricked when he heard a rather melodious chuckle not far from his position. Turning,
he‟s eyes fell on a rather slander figure, with fair skin and smiley eyes. His attention
however was drawn back to the stage as the musicians continued to perform their
rendition of songs and as the performance ended, the crowd began to disappear.
Only Dracula was left surveying the area. His mind reminded him of the human he
saw a moment ago and turned to search for him. Being a Vampire with a keen sense
of smell, he smiled and followed the trail left by that human only to find him sitting
on a fence near the barns, overlooking Nieve.

“Mind if I join you?” He asked and the man turned in surprise wonder why he didn‟t
hear anyone behind him.

“Depends on why you mean.”

Dracula hoped over and propped himself up on the fence, staring directly at his own
castle.

“You have an interesting taste of scenery.” Dracula commented.

“I like castles. They calm me.” The man muttered still staring at the castle. “I think
they are beautiful and I‟ve always wondered what it‟s like leaving in one of them.”

“It gets boring.” Dracula admitted forgetting that he was talking to a human. When
he realized, he snapped his head to the man who continued to stare in a distance as
though it didn‟t mean anything to him. Dracula exhaled and gripped the fence,
cracking it a little before releasing his clutch on the wood. “What‟s your name?”

The man turned and looked at him confused. “Kim JaeJoong, and why are you
talking to strangers?”

“You‟re not a stranger now are you?” Dracula asked.

JaeJoong shook his head and rolled his eyes, the side of his lips curved into a smile.

Just like that, they sat there, admiring the façade of the castle enjoying the night air
and the cold breeze that blew across the fields of snow. The moon hung above the
clouds illuminating everything. Under the light, JaeJoong caught a glimpse of
Dracula‟s eyes as they reflect the glow of the moon. His heart skipped a beat and he
took in a sharp breath before turning away. Neither did he know….

“The night is not young anymore.” JaeJoong said, getting off the fence before bowing.
“Nice to meet you, uh-“

“Yunho, that‟s Yunho to you.”

“Well, good night, Yunho.” He smiled faintly before turning his back and as Dracula
watched the retreating man, he chuckled to himself. Interesting…

Chapter 5
The nights became as a habit for Dracula to walk amongst the humans, in search of
this soul mate, but in order for him to find one, he had to turn a human into a
creature like him. However for him to turn a human, that person could never be fully
vampire, instead half human half blood sucker- a Chiroptera.

Incidentally he had already found the company of that man three nights ago rather
welcoming. Dracula however still kept his secret identity from him. Slowly but surely
without any hindrance, they started seeing each other more often than needed. The
vampire himself started to feel the attraction towards him and so did the latter.

“I‟ve never visited your home before.” JaeJoong admitted as both of them sat on the
roof top of his house.

“It‟s not a good idea.” Dracula replied trying not to sound rather off handed. “It‟s a
mess.”

“That‟s not a problem issit?”

“Yes it is. You‟re a clean freak am I‟m not.” He lied trying as he tried to pull their
conversation away from the topic of revealing that he was Dracula and that he lived
at Neive. Not that he didn‟t want to. He didn‟t want to frighten JaeJoong.

The smaller man smiled and Dracula felt a spark of guilt in him. If he was to spend
an eternity with Jae, it would mean turning him into his own kind and right there
and then, he didn‟t have the heart to, whatever it meant. He hated the dilemma he
was in as he stared at his human counterpart. But what if he agreed? What if he
wanted to? And then again, what if he decided to leave me forever after knowing
my secret.

“I‟ve always wondered what it‟ll be like to touch those clouds above.” Came a random
remark from JaeJoong.

Dracula stared above at the white puffy clouds that were still rather visible in the
dark night sky and heaved a sigh. He wanted to tell Jae how it was like, to show him
and let him know but if he did, what would become of them? He couldn‟t take
chances and as the years past, they grew closer to each other, and time and again,
Dracula had the notion to tell him the truth, but he still couldn‟t.

Then….

On that particular cool night of December 23rd 1689, a deadly disease broke out in
the small town of Venice, taking the lives of countless villagers who lived there. There
was no cure, just a death bed and a wish and the numbers of people who fell prey to
the deadly disease increased as the temperature plummeted to a freezing negative 10.
One of which, hit the very man that Dracula love and cherished.

“No you can‟t come in!” A woman shouted as Dracula made his way to the house.
Vampires couldn‟t enter houses with thresholds unless they were invited and so
Dracula stood watch outside of the house. Hopping on all hopes that he could see Jae.
He couldn‟t.

He watched from the window as day by day, the man grew weaker and weaker cursed
by the death inducing virus. His heart ached and for the first time, he found tears
until he couldn‟t take anymore. If Vampires couldn‟t enter the premises without and
invite, he would be the first one to defy that law. He threw the door open slamming it
against the wall and barged in.

JaeJoong‟s own parents stared at Dracula in shock as the Vampire scooped the dying
man off the bed and stepped out of the house.

“Where do you think you‟re taking him?!” His mother yelled after the retreating
Vampire. “There is no cure!”

Dracula gritted his teeth and squeezed JaeJoong‟s arm affectionately. The smaller
man merely muttered a silent whimper and blacked out.

“Yes there is.” Dracula murmured and Jae‟s parents watch in surprise as the Vampire
took to the skies, JaeJoong secured in his arms. He wasn‟t going to hide anymore.
Not when his other half was dying in his hands. No not ever.

As wind whizzed pass his hair, JaeJoong‟s eyes fluttered open momentarily, feeling
the updraft of something unfamiliar.

“Yunho…” He whispered faintly.

“No more. I‟ll give your life back to you soon.”

Then the ringing sound of the wind died down as Dracula landed gracefully on the
ledge of his balcony before placing JaeJoong gently on his bed. Then he leaned
forward to plant a kiss to his forehead, stroking his hair. He could already hear the
feeble heart beat of his lover pulsing in his chest, growing softer by the second. The
time ticked by as Dracula leaned closer still debating with himself. JaeJoong tried to
say something as he opened his mouth.

“Don‟t say a word.” Dracula hushed him and opened his mouth, baring his long
deadly fangs. He gripped onto the sheets still trying to hold himself back from doing
the act he never thought of in his whole existence. He hissed and threw himself
backwards against the wall, before pounding his fist against it. He couldn‟t not even
when Jae was dying in front of him. Even so, it would still be turning a human into
something he was.

“Yun-“

“I can‟t do this!” Dracula growled as he turned back to JaeJoong, glaring, not because
he was angry with Jae, but because he was angry with himself. “You don‟t know what
I am! Don‟t you see? I‟m a Vampire, a fucking blood sucker why did you fall in love
with me!” Everything came out in a rush and he slump onto the side of his lover
looking down at him, his eyes burning.

The sides of Jae‟s lips curled into a faint smiled and he tried to raise his hand, but
failed. He was already too weak to do so.

“It doesn‟t matter now….” He whispered, his breathing starting to become labored.
“Vampire- or not, I still l-love you.”

“Jae….” He whispered as the Jae‟s eyes started to fog up with tears, threatening to
close. “Look at me.” He commanded cupping his cheeks and angling his face to face
his, then as JaeJoong‟s own heart started to betray him, Dracula bit down, hard.

-------

The Vampire paced through the large halls as his mind raced across his action and
the vast façade of the castle. Something he never foresaw himself doing had come
true. Nonetheless, he made his way to his chamber where his lover was finally awake,
and as he did, a hiss greeted him. He paused wondering if it JaeJoong was angry or
not. Deciding he didn‟t care, he strolled forward and rested himself on the bed beside
his lover.

To him, JaeJoong looked even better than he was previously. His skin was now pure
snow white, his lips were cherry red like blood and on top of that, his gaze was cyan
blue. He was a whole new creature to begin with. Dracula inched forward but then
JaeJoong growled at him and launched himself on top of Dracula, strangely long
canines, snarling at him.

Dracula creased his eyebrows realizing that his awakened lover was still rather
confused of his own surroundings and his newly acquired senses, something that he
had heard off when humans were turned into Vampires, Chioptera –Bat
Vampires. He heard another animalistic snarl and JaeJoong snapped at him again
before he grabbed the other‟s waist holding him up thanks to his superhuman
strength.

“JaeJoong, it‟s me, calm down now. Ugh-“He dodge another series of slashes Jae
threw at him, his own body feeling the strength of a newborn shoving him into the
wall behind.

The Chiopetra winced as his back came into contact with the concrete before baring
his fangs again and leaping onto Dracula again. The Vampire cluck his tongue
realizing that JaeJoong had to be „famished‟ after transformation and reached to
grab Jae holding him down firmly. The Chioptera merely squirmed under him trying
to throw him off but Dracula chortle seeing his action and bit down on his wrist.

Blood oozed out from his self made wound before he released JaeJoong a little.
Dracula smirked when the smell of his own fluids excited the new born, and he
ledged himself onto the Vampire‟s hand digging his fang in. He watched as the excess
trickled down from under Jae‟s chin and pulled away. A low whine escaped from the
Chiopetra‟s throat but he didn‟t do anything, but merely sat there wiping his own lips,
the taste of iron and salt still lingering in his mouth. Dracula watched as those cyan
white pupils reverted back to sky blue ones and reached over to kiss Jae‟s forehead.

“Welcome back.” He whispered wrapping his arms around JaeJoong‟s shoulders and
chuckled as Jae purr in his hold. He heard JaeJoong ratter about something and he
looked down and felt the Chiroptera nipping at his arm.

“Insatiable aren‟t you?” He asked leaning his chin on Jae‟s head. “There‟s plenty
more where that came from.”

With that he led his lover out to the balcony, where the night breeze greeted them.
Indeed this time, the night was young and both vampires peered down at the bustling
streets of Venice. For the first time JaeJoong had a clearer view of the things around
him. They seemed sharper; as his senses were heighten to phenomenal proportions.
He looked around surveying his surroundings with interest for the first time and his
sense of smell caught something rather sweet. The smell of blood.

“Here-“Dracula said, sticking out his hand, but before he could continue, JaeJoong
had leaped off the ledge. He grinned seeing a rather eager new born and followed suit.

The village was still under the bondage of the deadly disease but neither Dracula nor
his lover was affected as they leaped from rooftop to rooftop. They heard cries of
bitterness and anguish but it didn‟t seem to bother JaeJoong and right there Dracula
realized that he was already incapable of human love. Around a bend, JaeJoong
disappeared off the rooftop followed by a scream.

When Dracula got there, Jae had already done his part. The person in his grip was
still struggling and flailing around in desperation of getting away but Jae‟s grip got
tighter over his neck as he continued to draw blood out. It didn‟t take long when
Dracula realized he was taking out more than he needed and hopped over pulling the
Chiroptera aside only did he stop and by the time, the guy in Jae‟s arms was dead.

He watched JaeJoong rub his mouth, his tongue peaking from those plump cherry
lips wiping the rest clean, he looked rather sexy doing that. For a new born he was
rather a person of few words and they spent the rest of the night floating through the
top of the houses, not a sound they made.

As the months past, JaeJoong got himself acclimatized to his new body and Dracula
got used to JaeJoong messy way of handling his prey. It was rather sloppy to be exact.
Every time he killed, body parts would be left behind sprawled all over the place.
Even when it came to animals, it was the same and night after night, the authorities
would find dead corpses lying all over the place with no lead no clue, not prints. No
doubt JaeJoong was a messy eater but he didn‟t leave a single mark behind. Dracula
would merely follow JaeJoong in his quest of satisfying his own hunger though he
didn‟t need to eat for weeks. He slowly noticed a change in Jae‟s appetite. It didn‟t
lessen neither did it increase; instead, he just had this joy in doing what Dracula
didn‟t think of- kill.
Chapter 6
JaeJoong sat idle on the ledge of Nevies‟ balcony overlooking the small disease
stricken village of Venice, hearing the cries of the sick and the dying along with their
family members. His attention however was shifted to a particular house down below.
It seemed familiar, but his vague memory of being human had long passed. It
seemed foggy and blur and a mental image of himself below some years before
surfaced in his mind before it disappeared in to mist, all he could remember was how
he used to walk amongst them. Deciding it didn‟t interest him anymore, he threw
himself off the ledge. Dracula happened to walk past his room when he noticed Jae
missing. He creased his eyebrow.

Sounds of a banging door disturbed the houses nearby as a drunken man stumbled
out of the bar, still holding a bottle of rum in his hand. He spat on the ground to his
side and slumped against the brick walls of the bar. He groaned as the side of his arm
grazed against a plank of wood precariously sticking out of a broken barrel beside
him. Turning to survey his wound, he mumbled something low in a complaint as he
rubbed his broken skin. A tiny drop of blood oozed out from his wound and he
merely kneaded his skin, smearing a little over his elbow. He dug in his pocket trying
to pull out a cloth of something to clean his wound, but being rather tipsy, he
accidently dropped it and cursed under his breath before bending down to pick it up.
As he did, a gust of wind blew past him picking the cloth into the air. He grumbled
and fought to grab hold of it. When he did, he grinned silly as though he had won a
prize or something but his smile was rather short lived as hushed voice ghosted
across his ears. He shivered and turned only to come face to face with a slander
figure clad only in black. He squinted his eyes to take a better look but his vision
blurred slightly due to his alcohol intake.

However his nose picked up the sweet smell of Lilac and carnations. Though his
vision failed him a little, he was sure someone was there.

“You came~~” He slurred, still drunk. “Why do- you smell so sweet?”

“What do you wish for?”

The man rubbed his eyes as that voice in his ears sounded too enticing, almost
reminding him of his now separated lover.

“I want-“He threw a hand over his mouth, as the feeling of throwing up distracted his
thoughts. When he decided the feeling had subsided, he staggered forward a little
more. “I want…. you.”

“Come...”

He did still stumbling over his own feet. He managed to grab on to something yet
again unfamiliar though it freezing cold.
An image flashed before his eyes and he caught sight of his lover smiling and
welcoming him with open arms. She opened her mouth to greet him „welcome
home‟. All he could do was run to her, to tell her how much he missed her, but as he
continued to run the path between them never seemed to end. In fact it seemed
longer, lengthier, infinite. He tried to reach out to the girl, but his fingers barely
reached hers. He screamed for her, but she didn‟t answer, instead a coy smile grew
on her face.

“So glad I left you.”

The surrounding started to fade as that smile grew into a sinister smile and her face
distorted into different features. Those chocolate brown eyes took a shade a blue
turning cyan white. The features continued to change until a totally different person
was standing in front of him. Instead of a woman, a much more slander person with
pale skin stood in her place, a faint grin hung on his lips. The man tried to turn tail to
run, when the figure opened his mouth. A high pitched screech ripped through the
man‟s ears causing him to writhe in pain clutching his ears.

“STOP!!!” He screamed as the pain inducing sound wracked his ear drums, causing it
to bleed profusely.

I know your desires, I know your darkest wishes, and I can make them come true,
only for a price……. Your blood…. Hmmmm~~

Everything went blank as his surroundings started to fade into oblivion, following his
consciousness.

“JAEJOONG!” Dracula called from the rooftop above, his voice loud enough to jolt
the man in his arms from his trance, however he was out cold. The Vampire leaped
from his perch and landed beside the Chiroptera who frowned at him, unhappy that
he was about to lose his prey.

“Spoil spot.” JaeJoong murmured still fiddling with the knocked out human in his
hand. He twirled his long finger around the surface of the man‟s neck running up and
down the side then seeing it was no use for him to play anymore, he jabbed two
fingers under the skin and bit down.

“Jae, stop. It‟s more than you need.”

The Chiroptera ignored him.

“JaeJoong!” He repeated himself before yanking him backwards away from the
human. “I SAID STOP!”

“YOU COULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE YOU TURNED ME!” JaeJoong
snarled at him.

“I WASN‟T THINKING!”
JaeJoong smirked and shoved Dracula back against the wall.

“Too bad.” He leaned forward. “I like it, what are you going to do about it?”

Dracula creased his eyebrows and grabbed Jae by his collar throwing him over head,
landing his back on the concrete. Then he leaped above and slammed against Jae
who hissed back at him in defiance. Then he charged at Dracula bulling them off the
roof to the ground below again and they tumbled there as Dracula ledged his fingers
into the wall locking himself and the Chiroptera in. JaeJoong squirmed, pressed in
between the wall and Dracula.

“Yunho….” He whispered, as he placed his palms to the wall. “GET THE FUCK OFF
ME!”

Dracula gasped as JaeJoong jerked his hands off the wall, the Chiroptera‟s back
coming into contact with his chest as they slammed up against the opposite wall,
bashing it into pieces. He released his grip on JaeJoong momentarily and JaeJoong
reached to grab his cloak jerking him backwards landing an uppercut under his jaw.

The cloaked Vampire tumbled backwards, clutching his chin and rubbing it. Then he
stood up and brushed his sleeve. He wasn‟t called Dracula- ruler of the night skies for
nothing, a Chrioptera was no match for him but it was JaeJoong to begin with. When
he snapped back, JaeJoong had already landed behind him before sending his boot
into his chest. The impact knocked him off his feet into a half done construction.
Then he leaped up to only to find an armful of Dracula, as the Vampire locked his
arm around Jae in a suplex. Both of them fell through a solid rock floor rolling about,
neither one giving up on their tussle.

Seeing it was no use to continue fighting, Dracula grabbed Jae by his waist and rolled
him around, pressing closer to him on the floor. The Chiroptera growled at him
bucking his hips off the floor to throw Dracula off, but that only made him press
closer, their groins brushing against each other.

With a smirk, Dracula jerked Jae‟s thigh off the ground and hooked it on his waist
before pressing a kiss to his cherry lips. JaeJoong merely blinked in confusion still
trying to pull away but Dracula held on tighter than ever, his grip on Jae‟s waist tight
enough to leave prints. Then he jerked Jae up again, rubbing their crotches together
again and JaeJoong‟s mouth parted in a silent groan.

“Yun-ho!” He squeaked, pressing his palms against Dracula‟s chest, grabbing at his
collar trying to push him off, but his body said otherwise, involuntarily arching into
the Vampire‟s touch. Then Dracula leaned forward and claimed Jae‟s lips smirking
against it as the Chrioptera‟s grip slowly loosened around his collar. Mesmerized by
Yunho‟s eyes, he merely lay there as Dracula kissed his lips slowly, taking time to
suck on his bottom lip. He reacted by nipping back at them.

“Are you angry?” JaeJoong asked timidly as Yunho‟s eyes smoldered against his.

“No-“Dracula admitted. “I‟m just in love.”

Then he trailed his lips from Jae‟s to his neck, lapping at it before nipping at the skin
there. JaeJoong gasped as Dracula‟s fangs propped his skin. He threw his head back
as those fangs dug deeper into his skin.

“Yun… it‟s going to ahh- become a h-habit...” He managed as Dracula‟s tongue

peaked out, tracing the dents he made with his fangs.

“Hmmm… Don‟t see you complaining.” He mumbled against Jae‟s neck as he drew
out, licking his lips. Then he trailed his hands higher moving under the bands of Jae‟s
leather, as he clasped his butt. JaeJoong gasped as he starting kneading the skin
there with slow firm strokes, the feeling of his fingers sliding across his skin
maddening. He bucked his hips up against Yunho‟s and the Vampire smirked, before
pressing JaeJoong down. The Chiroptera merely scowled and hooked his other leg
around Dracula‟s waist digging his heel in, trying to pull him closer.

“At this rate we‟re going, the sun is going to come up and we can all burn to death.”
JaeJoong admonished jerking Dracula down as he fought to seek his lips. When he
did, he meshed his lips with them and drove his tongue down the Vampire‟s throat.

Dracula chuckled as Jae‟s tongue poked at the roof of his mouth sending vibrations
into the latter‟s cavern causing him to suck harder, the feel of Dracula‟s mouth more
inviting. He slithered his fingers along Dracula‟s shirt, before releasing the catch that
held his cloak together. Then he went to work on the straps of his shirt, tugging them
out one by one, undoing the intricate lacing around Dracula‟s top.

“I didn‟t see you being this eager when you were human.” He commented as he
pulled away from Jae lips to look down at their entwined bodies.

The Chiroptera rolled his eyes and jerked Dracula forward only.

“Why are you so naggy.” He accused before finally undoing his shirt, shrugging it off
Dracula‟s shoulders, his own nails grazing the skin as it skimmed over equally pale
skin.

Dracula chuckled as he grabbed Jae‟s hands twinning their fingers together, pulling
JaeJoong into his arms. Then he pressed his mouth to Jae‟s ears and breathed down
his neck.

“You know where this is going don‟t you?” He asked in a whisper that made JaeJoong
lick his lips in response.

“Mmmm, that depends, what do you mean?” JaeJoong asked innocently as his eyes
gleamed with excitement. He wrapped his arms around Dracula‟s neck and sucked
till a hickey bloomed there and smirked, all ears.

Dracula chortled slipping his hand under JaeJoong‟s pants again. Apparently the
Chiropetra didn‟t need to be told twice. He eagerly slipped his long legs out of the
material and promptly wrapped it around Dracula‟s waist again, doing the same for
the other leg.
When that was done, he tugged on his own vest and pulled it off, before pressing his
bare chest to Dracula‟s bare one, the tingling feel of cool skin colliding driving him
insane.

Planting a firm hand on the ground, he guided JaeJoong lower and grabbed one of
the legs on his waist, jerking it slightly as they inched closer to the floor. JaeJoong
scowled seeing Dracula still had well, half of his apparel on. He shifted his other leg
backwards and stuck his it under the Vampire‟s pants, riding him of it.

“I like your initiative.” Dracula commented as he grabbed at Jae‟s waist jerking him
closer, his member teasing the rim of Jae‟s entrance.

“But I don‟t like you.” JaeJoong muttered.

“Tell me that‟s not true.”

“Mmmm-“The Chiropetra mumbled as Dracula leaned in for another kiss. “No,

definitely, not liking you. You kiss like a sissy. I think I can-!”

Even before JaeJoong could continue his sentence, Dracula lurched forward, burying
his member into Jae‟s body shutting him up. A moan escaped the Chiroptera‟s lips as
he totally arched off the ground before falling back again.

“Y-yun oh!” A stinging burn shot up the back of Jae‟s spine and he hissed, his body
buckling against Dracula‟s.

“You were saying?” Dracula reminded before drawing out and slamming down.
“What was it about me and being a bad kisser?”

“Ahhh- S-still a fucking bad kisser.”

Yunho rolled his eyes but JaeJoong‟s body said otherwise. He rolled his hips
temptingly against Dracula‟s. The Vampire pulled out and re-sheathed as he jerked
Jae‟s leg securely over his shoulder again. A nonsensical jumble of „Yunho-oh, faster‟
escaped from Jae‟s mouth and Dracula gave in to his erotic cries, slamming into him,
his speed in increasing tempos.

All the Chiroptera could do was dart his hands around in search of something to grab
at. He found Yunho‟s back and dug his fingernails in, scraping lines down his back.
Dracula didn‟t even bother, he‟d just heal instantly and as he pounded harder into
Jae, the sensation of being fucked made JaeJoong dig his heel into Yunho‟s lower
back, pulling him closer, a step towards ecstasy.

“Tell me you don‟t like it.” Dracula asked, catching Jae‟s lips in a searing kiss.

“Ahh- ahh- more- ahh-“Was all JaeJoong could say and Dracula rammed harder into
him, his thrust wracking Jae‟s body. He grinned as the Chiroptera moan under him,
bringing him every step closer to his limits, the feel of Jae‟s fingers digging into his
back literally a proof of it. It came without warning, JaeJoong erupting all over his
stomach with a cry of „Yunho!‟. Dracula came in the same motion, spilling his ribbons
into Jae causing the Chiroptera to moan at the release.

“You know I still have to keep an eye on you right?” Dracula asked, staring into Jae‟s
eyes, their lower regions still rather intimately connected.

JaeJoong side eyed. “Even if you don‟t tell me, I know.”

Dracula sniggered before pulling away.

“Yunho….. I‟m hungry.”

“Tsk, you‟re always hungry.”

Things never changed between Dracula and the Chiroptera and as the years
continued to pass, they watched Venice escape the tyranny of the deadly virus into a
new era. Things changed but they never did, although no one noticed.

New forces had arisen in place of the old ones. They were called Paladins.

Chapter 7
Year 1789….

The old forces that had once kept the town under control slowly got replaced by new
ones as the era changed. Forces called the Paladins over took priest and monks that
once were responsible for „driving‟ out the creatures known as Vampires and
although, their goal was the same, their methods of getting rid of them were
somewhat more violent and mechanical.

The Paladins were knights that rode around on horses with blades that were laced
with silver, the deadliest things that could hurt a blood sucker. Because of them, the
number of Vampires started to decrease leaving the rest to cower in hiding, in fear of
being found out and killed. That excluded Dracula and his new found lover.

Due to JaeJoong‟s frequent need to feed, Dracula protected him as a watch over the
city all eyes and ears on the lookout for those knights in metal and as usual, the
Chrioptera‟s way of handling his „food‟ was still rather sloppy.

------

“S-SPARE ME! PLEASE! HELP! SPARE M-ME!” A man ran screaming for his life
stumbling over his own feet before he tried to escape for his life as a rather famished
vampire chased after him, leaping from wall to wall, snarling and biting.

It wasn‟t like them to do this but ever since the Paladins had come into town, hiding
was their only option and scouring for anything that moved in order to feed their
thirst was the only way out. They would settle for rats or goats, anything that had
blood running through their veins was a source of food. That didn‟t bother Dracula
though and neither did it bother JaeJoong, strangely.
The famished blood sucker pounced on the man before digging it‟s fangs in, drawing
anything and everything out. It snarled when a hand closed around its throat pulling
it away from the dead corpse. It cried in agony as an arrow pierced its shoulder
pinning it to the ground, the feel of silver burned through its flesh followed by a wave
of a sword. It barely turned to see knights in helmets and heavy armor. It hissed in
defiance as a sword slashed across its‟ neck promptly turning it into nothing but
ashes.

As the wind blew across the land, Dracula picked up the scent of dead flesh. Probably
of the many of their kind that had been killed. He scrunched his nose and turned to
JaeJoong who was fiddling with his last catch-of-the-day. The Chiroptera lifted his
head as he watched Dracula stare into open space and wiped his mouth.

“Spacing out?”He asked randomly.

“No, I smell trouble.” Dracula warned.

“Them?”

Dracula nodded sharply and JaeJoong got to his feet immediately, protracting his
claws when the Vampire gripped his hand and gave it a small squeeze.

“You don‟t know what they are capable off, I don‟t either and we still need to observe
them. Only when the time is right do we strike.”

JaeJoong snorted. “I don‟t need that; I‟ll just suck them dry.”

Dracula shot him a rather off handed glare. That was what he was afraid off. Even
when JaeJoong wasn‟t so new to this whole thing anymore, he was still a Vampire
and he was vulnerable to whatever power the Paladins‟ wielded. He wasn‟t willing to
let his only soul mate fall to them.

“No. We do it my way.”

“Yunho.”

“You still have a lot to learn JaeJoong; I‟ve lived longer than you have.”

The Chiroptera cluck his tongue in disapproval and jerked his hand away from
Dracula‟s. He folded his arms and looked away.

“Fine.”

“Good, now let‟s go.” Dracula grinned, and with that both of them vanished over the
roof tops, retreating to Castle Nieve.

The nights became as a routine for both Dracula and his Chiroptera as they bounded
from rooftop to rooftop, subtly avoiding the Paladins. Thanks to Dracula‟s keen eye
and JaeJoong‟s sharp senses, they were able to dodge from all of the Paladins‟ watch.
After a long while it became a habit as both Vampires headed out of town into the
dark forest that lay on the outskirts of the village. Unlike the town, there was an
abundance of what they needed to self sustain and since it was far away from the
knights, Dracula could drop his guard. Just a little.

They left just before sun rise, taking the advantage that the Paladins would presume
that vampires wouldn‟t risk coming out into the sunlight just to escape them and on
that one particular day, they made their way back to Nieve as usual as the sun started
to just peak over the clouds. Ensuring that none of the deadly rays would hit
JaeJoong, he draped his cloak over both of them.

As they did, JaeJoong‟s foot tripped a snare, probably made for hunting purposes
and it snapped against his leg, the sharp metal piercing his flesh. The Chioptera
gasped in pain, letting go of Dracula to clutch his injured leg.

“That‟s not good.” Dracula commented as he bent down to survey Jae‟s leg. Lucky for
him, it wasn‟t bleeding profusely; the only problem was getting it out. He tugged at
the chain but the snare got tighter and JaeJoong cried out dropping to the ground,
still cringing.

“Yun-ho, just go, the sun will kill you.”

“It‟ll kill you too! I‟m not leaving-“

Even before Dracula could finish his sentence a blade appeared in the middle of them.
Dracula reacted almost immediately dodging the flying blade as it dug itself into the
tree just beside them. He turned to find their nemesis, in an armor of steel. Dracula
bore his fangs and hissed before releasing his support on JaeJoong. He leaped at the
knight only for the Paladin to draw another blade, swinging it in his direction. The
Vampire threw himself backwards in a somersault, landing beside JaeJoong who was
still struggling with his bonds. Deciding it was no use to continue struggling in the
hold of the metal death trap, he jerked his leg out. The teeth of the trap ripped a
portion of his flesh out but he didn‟t care and as soon as he did, the wound closed up
as though it was never hurt.

JaeJoong lurched forward, supporting himself with his hands on the ground as he
gave the bottom of his leather boot to the armored chin of the knight. The impact
sent him flying into the tree opposite of them breaking it in half.

“Get back!” Dracula warned as silver darts flew in their direction. He yanked at his
cloak deflecting the amount of fire at them. This was going nowhere, and if they
continued, they were more likely to die due to the sun rather than the knight in front
of them. JaeJoong growled as another series of darts came their way. His eye burned
cyan white as he leaped up from behind Dracula and ledged his claws onto the
knights‟ seemingly impenetrable armor before throwing slashes. They only dented
the metal a little so he wrapped his legs around the knight‟s neck and did a counter
clockwise spin before throwing the Paladin off him in a leg drop.
The knight scrambled to his feet, and plucked his sword from the tree, but Dracula
was already up against him smacking him with a back hand to his head sending the
Paladin sprawling across the clump of bushes.

“Go! Now!” Dracula commanded and both Vampires took off like the wind.

----------------------------------

Year 1889….

The reign of the Paladins still continued to a point where the population of Vampires
that survived dwindled and up at that point of them. Dracula believed that both he
and his lover were the only ones left standing.

He needed a way to survive this ordeal. It wasn‟t going to work. Not with JaeJoong
still being half human half Vampire. Even if JaeJoong‟s human half was not affected
by their weapons, his Vampire half needed to be sustained, otherwise he would just
whiter away and all the nights where Dracula had debated with himself whether to
turn him would be wasted.

Castle Nieve had already been stormed by them once through the years giving
Dracula no choice but to bring his Chiroptera into hiding, out of the light, out of sight
and out of the Paladins‟ reach. They had no choice but to hide underground and
thankfully, a cave was a good way to make do seeing it had running tunnels and long
winding passageways. On one hand, he now had to sustain himself as well, on the
other; JaeJoong was developing weird reactions towards everything he brought back
to him. The Chioptera would either throw it up immediately or his airways would
constrict causing him to gasp for air and night after night, it would be the same. Then
he realized that the knights were doing the one thing he feared- vaccinate the
villagers with silver nitrate in order to make sure that none of his kind survived.
Because of the vaccination, blood suckers that ingested the lethal concoction into
their bodies would die of internal burns and ultimately bleed to death. There was no
way out. Fortunately for Jae, his immune system made do of the poison thanks to his
direct relationship to Dracula. The king of Vampires wasn‟t affected one bit by that
poison, he merely found it repulsive, but there was another problem with the
Chiroptera.

“Yunho…” He whispered as he curled up in a ball in a corner. “I‟m cold.”

“It‟s a joke right?” Dracula asked.

JaeJoong shook his head and curled up a little more. “I‟m freezing.”

Scooting closer to Jae, he cupped his cheeks staring at him. The Chioptera wasn‟t
kidding at all. His cherry lips had lost its‟ redness not pale and lifeless. His eyes were
not gleaming like they used to and besides that, tributaries of blue veins lined the
wall of his neck stretching up to his jaw line, clearly a sign that he was getting weaker
due to the days gone without feeding. Dracula could already head hear the heavy
drawn breath from his lungs.

He gritted his teeth. If this carried on, he would probably just live the rest of his
infinite life alone again. That he didn‟t want.

“Don‟t you die on me.” Dracula commanded faintly remembering himself telling him
not to die nearly half a century ago, back then when they were still above ground. He
pulled the weak Chioptera into his arms, hugging him tightly, feeling the familiar
feeling of wetness at the corner of his eyes again. The scene flashing before his eyes-
JaeJoong once again dying in his hands, with no help at all….

Tears….

What are they for? Tears are for the weak….

Love……

Only exist with you….

But….

There was a way and Dracula knew exactly what it was. Only there was an even
heavier price to pay. He‟s fingers circled around the length of Jae‟s neck wondering,
groaning at the thought. Over the years, his heart had grown soft, but only for
JaeJoong. It was the only reason why he had decided to turn him into only half of
what he was, but now, it wasn‟t the problem anymore. They had bigger problems to
worry about and at this rate they were going, JaeJoong was going to die again.

Taboo…

He opened his mouth once more as his canines elongated. Then as he leaned forward
he whispered a low lullaby into JaeJoong‟s ears.

I will commit a sin….

But….

I will never do it again….

Forgive me for what I‟m about to do……. My Love, my life…

Chapter 8
The dark and frosty winter night settle in the town of Venice covering it once more in
snow. Nothing crawled nothing moved. The villagers stayed in their homes, over
warm and toasty fireplaces avoiding the biting cold, still very well unaware what was
going outside. Yet, the Paladins made their rounds as usual making it impossible to
any kind of movement for the Vampires.

It had been almost two weeks since Dracula had sort shelter and protection from the
dark cave not so far from the village.

His heart longed for his original home at Nieve but he knew that it was already
impossible to get back and nights when he watched over JaeJoong made his senses
grow rusty. The very thing that he swore not to do, he had already done, and there
was no turning back.

----------------------

As JaeJoong‟s heart started to fail him once more, Dracula did the only thing which
he could think of – bite. He sank his fangs into the Chiroptera‟s neck once more,
piercing the thick vein which ran from his neck all the way to his heart. Then in one
quick motion, he drove his deadly poison into Jae‟s body before releasing his bite and
watched as the tributaries of veins that were once visible on his skin disappear slowly
but surely.

The taboo that he swore not to do, he had done, but for a cause that even he himself
had never foreseen himself to execute. He heart the steady pounding of JaeJoong‟s
heart beat in his rib cage, delivering his poison through his body. It started to slow as
he watched JaeJoong‟s cherry lips return to him until it faded to an absolute stop,
and his eye fluttered open again.

His heart was now like Dracula‟s, unmoving and silent. In order to keep Jae alive,
Dracula had to resort to the last thing he knew- turn him into a full fledged Vampire.

Dracula stared into JaeJoong‟s eyes and leaned forward to nuzzle his nose on his
forehead. He smiled when he heard the Chiroptera purr again.

“Yunho.” He whispered quietly as he reached out to lace his fingers between

Dracula‟s locks. Then he pulled himself up to kiss him gently on the lips. It was
something the Vampire had longed for. He smiled and returned the favor with a
chaste peck to Jae‟s lips.

“I missed you.” He murmured against Jae‟s lips as they kissed.

Full fledged transformation had taken a different take to Jae‟s outlook though.
Instead of cyan blue eyes now, they were rather crimson red with a hint of liquid gold.
His hair instead of a shade of ebony was now like the color of his eyes, crimson, but
they still held a little of his previous hair color, black. Dracula thought he looked
more stunning than he did before and grinned a little thinking that probably what he
did was a good thing, not knowing what would become of him, but what could they
do other than live a day at a time, still unsure of their new surroundings and the
tyranny of the Paladins.

Even after months, the dreaded substance known as silver nitrate was still being used
as a deadly vaccine against them. Having no choice, they turned to the animals that
roamed in the forest hoping it would make ends meet. Fortunately for Jae, since his
transformation, didn‟t need as much as he did previously giving them lesser chances
of running into the knights in „shining‟ armor.

They began devising a plan of attack so they could get their home back.

Sound of shouting and horses echoed through the empty passage ways of the village
as a knight chase after a retreating famished Vampire on horseback. It was rather
surprising seeing that there were a few left. They probably had gone into hiding just
like Dracula and his lover but hunger and thirst had forced them out, discarding all
sense of security that they had when they hid from the knights.

A silver dart flew in its direction, the sharp metal burying into its‟ leg. The vampire
gave a long drawn hiss and spun backwards only to find the sharp end of the blade at
its‟ neck. The blood sucker bore his long fangs in a warning but the knight didn‟t
budge and stuck the sword closer, barely touching its neck but near enough to leave a
stinging effect.

“D-don‟t kill me!” It screeched, as it tried to scramble backwards. “Don‟t-!” It cringed

as the tip of the blade pricked his neck.

“Any last words before you die?” The knight asked still unmoving and cold.

“Yeah, I got one.” A voice came from behind him and the knight turned to find a
figure standing on the back of his horse. He hardly anticipated the next move as
another figure swopped down from the roof above, ridding him of his horse and
pinning him to the ground snarling.

“Ugh!” The knight spat through his helmet and grabbed for a couple of darts kept in
his greave. His movements however were too slow as the figure on him grabbed at his
arm pinning them to the ground beside him and he struggled under the weight on
him.

With that the figure yanked out his helmet and the knight caught a glimpse of
crimson gold eyes staring at him before a hand slashed across his neck, severing it
turning him into a puddle of his own blood. JaeJoong grinned and got off the dead
Paladin, before chucking him aside like a rag doll. He turned to Dracula who had
already tamed the stallion that had lashed out at the smell of two predators in their
midst.

“We‟ve got their attention now.” Dracula commented blandly and he swore it was the
first time he‟d ever seen JaeJoong that excited. Excited for what you might ask?

Well let‟s just say he was excited to gain their home back.

--------------------------------------
“We have lost a man to those creatures, commander.” One of the Paladins reported
solemnly.

The Commander turned and creased his eyebrows after receiving the news. Then he
balled his fist and turned back to look out the window.

“You may go now.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Night had drawn near and the sun dug under the cover of thick clouds, darkness over
taking again. That‟s when they made their move.

The entrance to Pico de la Nieve was over running with centauries on guard but one
by one, Dracula picked them out, before slitting their throats in the most silent way
possible, giving time for JaeJoong to sneak in. Thanks to Dracula, he was a notch
faster than he was previously and both of them set foot in the place they once lived.
Similar to the outside, the interior of the castle was crawling with guards and
Paladins. JaeJoong hissed seeing the uninviting scene and Dracula clamed him.

“My nose tells me the big one is above us.” Dracula said.

JaeJoong shot his head up in unison and stared at the ceiling, before turning to
Dracula in a nod. They streaked across the hall like shadows, unseen, unheard and
unnoticed. With his back against the wall, JaeJoong heard the footsteps of a knight
nearby. He took the opportunity and lurched out grabbing the knight by his head and
twisting it before pulling him in, laying him against the wall. Then both of them
vanished up the flight of winding stairs. It wasn‟t very difficult finding perfect hiding
spots. Dracula had lived there for more than a century and he knew every nook and
cranny of the castle like the back of his hand.

The Paladin commander sat with his fingers claps together deep in thought when a
faint voice ghosted across his ear.

He jerked up and spun around to see no one, but the voice seemed to appear again,
faintly dancing around him. He felt a force at the back of his neck and snapped
backwards and as soon as he didn‟t, the feeling disappeared.

A shrill laughter echoed through the chamber and he drew his sword immediately,
but he watched in shock as the metal blade turned itself into a long hissing snake. It
spat and protracted it‟ fangs as a string of venom shot out from those pores in its
teeth. He jerked his hand back and dropped the serpent as it started to coil around
his arm.

Then there was that eerie laughter again as the object on the floor distorted and
melted into a puddle of blood. He Paladin stood his ground as the puddle shifted into
a form of a man with piercing red eyes. It stared at him for a while and a sly grin
pulled across his face.
“Show yourself!” The Paladin bellowed.

He felt the chill of something sliding down his neck and reached over to grab it but
then it disappeared as it appeared. His nose picked up the smell of rotting flesh and
he looked down only to find his own skin starting to peel and melt away until only
bones were left. His eye sockets felt like they were bursting at the immense pressure
at the back of his head and opened his mouth in a silent scream before dropping to
the floor.

As soon as he did, the dark aura that had surrounded the place started to disappear
and fade away, turning back into its original state. He opened his eyes only to realize
that everything he‟d been through was merely an illusion, a trick played by the man
standing in front of him. Dracula sneered as he shot a glare at their direction. It was
one of JaeJoong‟s oldest trick in the book- nightmare.

“Cheap trick.” The Paladin muttered under his breath, still suffering the aftermath of
the illusion.

“Cheap enough to fool you.” JaeJoong retorted.

“I don‟t suppose you‟re here to negotiate are you?” The Paladin asked as he got to his
feet brushing off the dust on his armor.

“No.” Dracula answered almost immediately. Then he appeared in front of the Knight
and delivered a jaw cracking uppercut to his chin.

The Paladin landed on the ground as his armor clanged against the ground. He heard
his men rushing to the scene and rubbed his chin. JaeJoong turned to anticipate the
hoard of men in armor and threw himself at them, leaving Dracula to the boss
himself.

“Let‟s not be a spoilt spot now, shall we?” The Commander asked as he got to his feet,
picking up his blade. “Names, Shim ChangSoo.”

“I don‟t believe in formalities-“Dracula snorted. “Once I‟m done with you, I won‟t
need to remember your name.”

“Oh? We‟ll see about it.”

Chapter 9
Both Dracula and the Paladin Commander went head to head as neither of them gave
in. Dracula constantly still having the upper hand but that didn‟t give the Paladin
excuse to back down. Both of them fought hard and long, proving their power and
authority- the king of Vampires and the Leader of Paladins.

JaeJoong on the other hand was busy with the rest of the knights as they filled into
the large halls from all sides. The shifted his position and leaped at them without
hesitation. Dracula was close by, going still proving his superiority.
The Paladin thrust his blade in Dracula‟s direction only for the vampire to dodge it
with ease. He grabbed the paladin by the arm and threw him over head landing him
back first on the hard flooring. The Knight winced at the impact though the armor
was there to cushion his fall. He scrambled to his feet and charged back at Dracula
who dug under him as he jumped for a slash, sending his fist into the Paladin‟s chest.
The impact knocked him off his feet again but he dug his blade into the ground using
the friction of metal and the concrete to lessen the impact. As he gripped onto the
handle of the sword tighter, he charged at Dracula before swiftly lashing his blade
upwards. The Vampire cursed as the long sword brushed past him as he dodged out
of the way. Bits of his cloak had been ripped by the attack and he creased his
eyebrows as they glared at each other, before both of them clashed head on again.
Swinging his sword with his full strength, the Knight whipped the blade in front of
Dracula‟s face only for the Vampire to block the in-coming attack with his arms and
in one swift motion, delivered his boot to the Paladin‟s gut. Clearly, even he being a
commander was no match when up against Dracula who was much stronger. The
Commander cursed under his breath and drew an ampil of silver nitrate before
shoving it in Dracula‟s direction.

The tiny bottle dashed into pieces on the floor, the liquid inside it turning into vapor,
carrying the deadly concoction through the air.

Dracula took a step back noticing the invisible vapor and yanked his cloak over,
shielding him from the gaseous liquid. He hissed under his breath and leaped above
clinging to the wall. He started out the door where JaeJoong busy with his side of the
fight and glared back at the Paladin below, underneath him.

“You can‟t stay there forever Vampire!” The Paladin shouted from below. “It‟s a
matter of time before it gets to you!”

The Vampire bored his fangs and snarled in reply still insistently clinging to the
ceiling. He shot his gaze out the door one more time as he watched the other knights
drive JaeJoong in through the door slowly, bit by bit.

“You‟re losing, Dracula. Can‟t you see?” The Commander peered up at the Vampire
and drew out another glass ampil. “You think silver cannot hurt you but this will.”

With that, he grinned and turned to toss the tiny glass bottle in Jae‟s direction. The
Chiroptera noticed a shift in movements and spun around to see the deadly liquid
filed bottle touch the floor. Shattering, the liquid disintegrated into vapor filling the
area again. JaeJoong made do of the empty space behind him and threw himself
backwards clinging to the pillar, and then he lodged himself off the stone pillar,
treating his feet like spring boards where he slammed at the Commander head on,
both of them tumbling backwards.

As he did, he protracted his long claws and slashed at the armor of the Paladin,
denting it as much as he could. The metal took the impact of whatever he threw at it
but ultimately cracked under his immense pressure. He dug his finger into the cavity
he made and ripped the armor out like it was cloth. Then he threw his claws back at
the Paladin who lifted a knee into his gut, knocking him backwards.
JaeJoong stumbled backwards in Dracula who had landed behind him to catch him
and rubbed his stomach.

“Leave him to me.” Dracula assured as he ruffled Jae‟s hair affectionately.

Nodding, JaeJoong returned his attention to the hoard that continued to pour in
from the outside.

The Paladin got to his feet and rubbed the blood off his lips before turning his focus
to Dracula once more.

“Some pet you got there.” He sneered, eyeing at JaeJoong and Dracula gritted his
teeth in anger.

“HE‟S NO PET OF MINE!” Dracula roared. “HOW DARE YOU!”

“Then why do you still keep him even after so long? Did you save him because you
felt sorry for him? Isn‟t it that why?” The Paladin taunted. “You cannot live without
him so you turn him, isn‟t that just like being your pet?”

“SHUT UP! YOU KNOW NOTHING!” Dracula hollered and disappeared from his
position only to appear in front of the Knight. He grabbed the Commander by his
neck and slammed him against the cold hard floor, cracking it. “YOU SHOULD DIE!”
He snarled, eyes burning with anger.

Wincing against the impact of his back slammed against the floor, the Paladin
grabbed a silver dart from his greaves and stabbed it into Dracula‟s waist.

The Vampire gasped and flopped over on the floor, clutching his side, the metal still
stuck in his flesh. He reached down to pluck the dart out of his side and chucked it
aside, the sting of the silver though not potent enough to hurt him but still lethal
enough to burn the underside of his flesh. He winced as he felt a second burn rip
through his side and looked down to find searing flesh.

“Fuck.” He cursed under his breath realizing that the dart wasn‟t only coated with
silver; it was coated with silver nitrate as well and as the liquid corroded deeper, he
hissed and dug his finger into his side ripping out the infected portion chucking it to
the floor. The tissues he pulled out burned and shriveled up before evaporating. Then
he turned back to the Paladin as his wound healed rather slowly and gritted his teeth.

At the far end, JaeJoong, being distracted by the tussle between the commander and
Yunho snapped his head back to access the situation when a large sword dug itself
into the ground beside him barely missing him. He spat a snarl and discarded his
distractions before turning his attention back to the man in armor. The lashed out at
them, burying his fingers deep in one of the knight‟s jugular before yanking his
throat out like it was just a piece of plasticine. The paladin dropped to the floor,
blood gushing out from his wound before gurgling on the floor in a pool of it. He still
had the tendency to lap at his blood soaked hands, enjoying the taste of it. However it
was short lived as the rest of the knights swung their swords at him. He pursed his
lips and jumped up avoiding one of the blades that slashed at his feet.

Then he leaped backwards in a somersault, gracefully landing on all fours before

pushing off the ground pouncing at another one. He lashed his foot out and smacked
the knight square across the chest sending him flying before spinning backwards,
slamming his arm into another, dodging under the knight‟s feet and sweeping him off
his feet with his leg. Then like a spring board, he lifted himself off the ground with
his palms and kicked the other Knight in the chin, sending him into the plaster of the
wall. One of them charged at him taking the opportunity of his back facing him, but
JaeJoong anticipated all as he snapped backwards shoving his palm just a hair length
away from the knight‟s face. The Paladin jerked in shock and JaeJoong grinned,
grabbing his armor and swinging him around like a rag doll before slamming him
into the floor. Then he got off and made his way to Dracula who had his hands full.

He couldn‟t make it to the door as three other Paladins dragged out what seemed to
be a rather large cannon and positioned it at him.

“JaeJoong!” Dracula called out from inside the chamber before turning away from
his opponent.

“You shouldn‟t drop your guard on the enemy, blood sucker.” The Paladin taunted,
drawing the Vampire‟s attention back to him, though half his mind was with the
Chiroptera. Then he heard a loud boom from the metal tubing followed by a
deafening explosion. When the smoke had cleared, there was no sign of his
Chiroptera.

“WRETCHED HUMAN!” He roared and grabbed the Paladin by his neck lifting him
off the floor in a rage. His growled as his fingers tightened around the Knight‟s neck,
his eyes gleaming with both anger and tears.

My Yunho is crying…..

I cannot see it… but… I feel it.

He‟s crying…. For me…

Yunho…..

The knights closed in on the wracked wall not fall from the chamber where Dracula
and the commander fought it out. They kicked away the debris that was sprawled all
around; the place where they blew Jae through the wall had collapsed on itself
making it difficult to reach.

I‟m not someone you can look down on…

I will soak this place in your blood…..

The armor of the knights rattled as a thick and heavy aura descended on them like
rain and the dropped to the ground shuddering in vain of trying to resist it.

Out of the side of Dracula‟s lips pulled into a slight grin as he pulled the Commander
to his face.

“I don‟t have to kill you. He will.” The muttered lowly.

The commander eyes grew wide as he managed to turn his head only to come face to
face with a rather irate JaeJoong. However, he was different just physically.

Instead of creamy white skin, a shade of pure white over took his demeanor. His eyes
were a liquid gold and his lip. His lips were even redder in contrast to his snow white
skin. On top of that, his hidden wing blades were now two feet long wings, a similar
tone to his body. Talons took the place of feet.

Dracula let go of the Paladin he scrambled backwards as JaeJoong pushed forward

smirking at him.

“So much for sending me through the wall….I appreciate it.” He taunted and
wrapped his tail around the knight‟s leg and dangling him precariously off the ledge
of the balcony. His lips parted baring a whole row of sharp teeth. “I heard humans
can‟t fly, shall we test that?”

The Paladin struggled to get a hold of the ledge of the balcony, and when he did,
JaeJoong let go of him causing him to fall, but his fingers managed to ledge onto the
barrier as he dangled above the sharp rocks below.

JaeJoong cluck his tongue and leaned forward to pry his fingers slowly from the
banister, like he was playing with his prey.

The Paladin made do of this other hand ledged it onto the balcony and pulled himself
up but JaeJoong made to snap at him again causing him to falter slightly off the edge.
Taking advantage of their close proximity, he promptly jerked himself up and collide
his head with Jae‟s in a head butt.

The Chiroptera clasped his head and took a step backwards giving the Paladin time
to recover as he managed to get back over the ledge.

Dracula ghosted past Jae and smacked the Commander across his chest before
grabbing his arm and kneeing him in the gut. The Paladin‟s mouth parted in a silent
groan as he spat blood and even before he could recover, Jae had yanked him by his
long tail smashing him against the pillar behind him. The Paladin fell to the floor
gasping for breath. He was clearly overpowered by the two Vampires and his men
were already down.

It was life or death.

Painstakingly, he reached under his garment and pulled out something which looked
like a talisman. It was his last resort. Getting to his feet, still painfully, he staggered
towards both of them but Dracula thought otherwise, grabbing at his face, before
tightening his hold.

“I told you, after I‟m done with you, names will not be needed.” Dracula sneered, and
retracted his other hand ready to strike the last blow.

“I won‟t say too soon, b-blood sucker.” The paladin mumbled, and pressed his palm
against Dracula‟s chest. “Go back to where you came from.”

A stinging sensation broke out upon Dracula‟s body and he cringed, before releasing
his grip on the Knight and dropping to the ground clutching his chest. JaeJoong
looked on, confused before he glided over to embrace his lover.

“Ugh…” Dracula exhaled as the sting developed into a throbbing numbness. He

grabbed at his chest again as an electrifying feel coursed through his entire being
then he collapsed onto the floor writhing in pain. JaeJoong stared at him terrified
and for the first time, Dracula saw in Jae‟s eyes the emotions that had long vanished
from him.

JaeJoong blinked and stared at his lover, gasping in pain and found himself tearing.
Not that he didn‟t know how to, he had long lost the emotion, the will to tear. He felt
his eyes fog up and threw himself over Dracula‟s body, sobbing uncontrollably.

Then as though like a tap had been turned off, his tears stop falling and he lifted
himself up from Dracula‟s weak body in a glare, eyes burning with anger and
hatred. The Paladin mumbled something from where he was and a large black coffin
appeared out of the ground, chains springing out from its depts. The Chiroptera
hissed as the chains snagged at Dracula‟s feet and hands binding him, before
wrapping rounds around his body. Then as it drew him further away from Jae, the
metal bindings locked themselves round his neck cursing him to the depts of the
metal trap- the coffin- forever a prisoner in his castle.

“Jae-“He muttered as the casing slammed down on him.

JaeJoong snapped his head back and snarled before pouncing at the Paladin,
desperate and enraged.

“I have a special treatment for you.” The Paladin muttered and whipped his fingers to
face the Chiroptera.

Like Dracula, different sets of chains sprang out from all four corners of the chamber,
snagging around his wrist pulling him taut. JaeJoong yanked desperately at them as
a painful burn spread through his wrist to his body. Then as the tightened even more,
the chains that bound his wrist slithered around his body, locking him in place
draining every ounce of will power left in him.

“For this you will spend an eternity imprisoned in this wretched place, never to walk
the earth again.”
I have committed a sin…..

I have made you this… Monster…. Like me…

Now….

I pay the price…

But…

I still love you….

Chapter 10
“How many times did I tell you, cases like that are not for me to handle.” ChangMin
groaned as he grimaced at a lifeless corpse of horse.

“But detective, it‟s been months now.” The owner stressed and the Detective rubbed
his temples warily.

It‟d been his umpteen visit to cattle farm and breeding grounds for animal the whole
day and none of the leads added up to the murders that he had on his other side of
the list. The animals however had similar marks as compared to the corpses that lay
along the alley one night.

The bodies that he found lying there were blood soaked. Not only that, there were
bite marks not just on their hands, but also on their necks. Similarly to the horses
that he had observed during his useless rounds to the barns, they had the same kind
of bite marks. Could they‟ve been attacked by the same creature?

He sat at his desk that night going through the cases and photographs that his officer
and partner had taken for him. They were compiled into a folder for easy excess. As
he flipped through the pictures one by one, he noticed a trend. All of the cases were
in the night, at midnight. He snapped the file shut and keyed in the only thing he
thought of at that moment.

At the first click of the mouse, pictures of vampire bats popped out at him followed
by a series of other kinds of bats, but none of them matched the profile that he
wanted. Those bite marks that were littered all over those victims and animals were
larger in proportion, too small for a vampire bat bite. Then he pressed the back space
key and pressed enter. A different kind of search popped out at him. Rather
gruesome images of humans with blood teeth, or to me more precise, they were too
long to be called teeth, rather canines or fangs. A striking picture caught his attention
and he clicked on the link and was directed to another page.

It seemed like a folk tale, but curiosity over took him and he decided to read into the
lengthy essay.
„It was said that centuries ago, Vampires walked the land.

Vampires were creatures that only sot after blood and nothing else. They harbored
no emotion or pity and were mostly described as cold blooded or pale and icy.

I have met countless of them. You would say that I‟d be lying, but the truth lies in
the lies that I create. Many would say that Vampires could be spotted easily, or
picked out easily based on how they looked. But I‟d say, you are wrong. They can be
the most beautiful creatures that ever walked this earth, but don‟t look at their
exterior. However they looked like any of us. They had features that were similar to
a human, nose, mouth, skin, hair and limbs, but under that shell, they were merely
monsters only seeking after human blood.

My tussle with two of the most fearsome creatures has come to an end and I clearly
remembered how I trapped them in their own castle. I‟ve lived to this age but I hope
that all of you take my heed to stay out of that castle. If you know what is good for
you. „

The article dated back to 1999.

As he closed the window, he‟s mind drifted back to the few nights that he had tried to
search for the answers to the mysterious disappearance of people on the street.
Maybe his premonition about Vampire being real was right after all. Getting out from
his seat, he grabbed his trench coat and got out of the office as he headed down to the
mortuary.

“I‟d like to take a look at those corpses, thank you.” ChangMin said, as he flashed his
detective badge at the security guard.

The man nodded, seeing his proof and led him into the building where a mortician
was waiting for him. The doctor then brought him into a rather cold room where flat
trolleys were placed spaciously all over. ChangMin took a shuddery breath seeing so
many dead bodies lying around under sheets and turned to the mortician.

“Mind if I- uh- look around?” He asked, still unsure why he was doing this.

“Sure, sure, but please, cover the bodies once you‟re done.” The mortician suggested
and left the room, leaving the detective to his rather bizarre rounds.

He swallowed as he paced towards a particular trolley and picked at the sheet before
pulling it open, rather gently I might add, slowly inching the cloth away, still a little
freaked out by what would greet him. He expected a semi decomposed body or a
rather gruesome wound that would make him loose the dinner he had previously. He
cursed under his breath seeing that he shouldn‟t have eaten before.
He bit his lower lip and pulled the sheet open a little more, expecting the unexpected,
but all he got was a rather peaceful looking, dead body. He blinked and heaved a sigh
before putting on a pair of clean gloves. He half held the corpse head and turned it to
the side where he picked out deep puncture wounds on the side of the neck. Then he
pulled out his phone and took a picture, quietly of course before proceeding to the
other stiffs.

Each one of them looked like they were merely bitten, with bite marks, scratch marks
and nothing more than a blow to the head. Probably when they were trying to escape
from the assailant they fell before hitting their heads. Maybe?

He covered all of them up and took a deep breath again. This would probably be one
of his most daring attempts considering he had a phobia of seeing dead things.

As he left the mortuary, he pulled out his cell and stared blankly at the pictures he
took, wondering if they‟d do anything for his case. The night air was rather cold and
the streets were already pitch dark with only lamps to light the way. The people had
gone home to sleep, and in the wee hours of the morning no one would be around.
He rubbed the back of his head warily and yawned. His work was done. Probably
SeungI would have an idea on how to go about.

A rather cold feel ghosted down the back of his neck and the hairs on them stood on
end. He shuddered thinking it was probably the wind and pulled his collar higher
than usual. He spotted a dark shadow looming behind him and creased his eyebrow.
Considering that it could be a robber, he pulled out his hand gun and snapped
around shouting “Don‟t move!” but there was no one. Then a cold icy feel slipped
from his neck to his jaw up to his cheeks and he shuddered at the contrast in
temperature. He opened his mouth in a silent gasp as his body stood there frozen in
place. It was the same feeling the felt back at the bar, except that was short-lived and
this time it was much colder and everlasting.

The gun in his hand rattled as he gripped onto it. Squeezing his eyes shut, he
summoned all his willpower and swung around, the gun tightly in his hand. He
blinked when the nose of the gun came face to face with a pale skin.

“Who are you?!” He managed. To ChangMin, the man was a little shorter than he was,
probably- probably in his mid 20s. He had a full head of ebony coal hair, full red
pouty lips, his skin was pale and under the luminescence of the lamp, it looked like it
glowed, nothing he‟d seen in his life. Then he remembered the lingering feel of the
icy touch at the back of his neck and glared at the man. “I repeat, who- are- you.”

Those red cherry lips pulled into a slight smile and ChangMin gripped onto his pistol
tighter, threatening to pull the trigger.

“So eager.” The man said, as he reached for the detective‟s hand, lowering his gun,
cold skin coming into contact with warm skin, igniting a flare of electricity which
jolted through his veins. ChangMin gasped at the contrast and jerked his hand back
almost immediately. The man giggled, though eerily and reached down to grab him
back his neck.
ChangMin opened his mouth to say something but the hand around his neck was too
much for him to take. He managed to wrap his fingers around the man‟s wrist and
tugged at it. “Let-me-ugh- go...” He begged as he felt him slowly being deprived of
oxygen, he jerked the hand again, and cringed as he was lifted off the pavement,
dangling in mid air.

“I found you~” The man sang. “How did you hide so well?”

“Found-ahh-“ ChangMin gasped in between breaths. “What do you mean f-found?”

“You haven‟t aged a bit, human.”

ChangMin couldn‟t fully grasp what was going on but his mind told him that he was
probably mistaken for someone else. Nonetheless, he kicked out at the pale figure in
front of him. He choked as he found himself slammed against the brick wall behind
him, only did he realize he was 4 feet off the ground. It had to be.

“V-vampire…” He muttered as he stuggled.

“How nice, you remembered. Now, If would kindly die.” The man whispered into his
ears.

“JAEJOONG!” Both of them heard from below. The Chiroptera looked down to see
Dracula staring at him.

“Ugh-“ ChangMin squirmed in the vampire‟s hold.

Jae stared at Dracula confused and back at ChangMin glaring at him still not willing
to let him go. Then both flopped to the ground and he threw the detective onto the
pavement, leaving him panting. Then he turned to face Dracula and creased his
eyebrows.

“Yunho, why-“

“Look at what century it is now. The man we are looking for is dead!”

“Lies! He‟s right in front of-“JaeJoong couldn‟t finish his sentence as a gunshot
echoed through the alley. He turned back to see the gun that was previously on the
floor, in the detective‟s hands, smoke emitting from the barrel. Then he looked back
only to find a bullet lodged in Dracula‟s chest. The small metal projectile had pierced
past him digging into Dracula‟s flesh. He hissed and snapped his head back.

“Wretched human!” He growled and lurched at ChangMin who opened fire a second
time, the bullet breaking into Jae‟s shoulder. He stumbled backwards a little and
clutched his arm.
“Come closer, I‟ll shoot.” ChangMin warned and a hand pressed against his head
causing him to black out instantly.

“So much for subtlety.” Dracula commented as he dragged the detective over his
shoulder.

“Chi.” JaeJoong spat as his wound healed instantaneously.

When ChangMin‟s eyes fluttered open, a rather disturbing sight greeted him and he
jerked up scrambling backwards. A dead decomposing what seemed to be female lay
only inches from his face. He jerked around to regain his bearings. There was a small
light up ahead but too dim for him to see anything, then he heard footsteps and a
door creaking open.

“You‟ve awaken~” He heard.

Chapter 11
ChangMin tried his best to squint in the darkness of the chamber but his eyes
wouldn‟t let him. He spotted a figure at the door step and the footsteps got closer
until he was sure the person was right before him.

“What do you want with me?” ChangMin squirmed a little as the figure got closer. He
contemplated to reach for his hand gun but realized that he might have dropped it
back there when he was rendered unconscious. He curled up a little when a cold
finger touched his face.

“I don‟t believe you don‟t remember a thing.” He heard, and the voice seemed like
the man that had attacked him a while earlier. He turned to what might seem like
window to get his bearings. Apparently it was still night fall. There was no sunlight
streaming though the gaps in the bars. The turned back and felt a weight on him as
bodies collided, the contact of cold and warm skin causing him to shudder again. The
problem didn‟t lie with the contrast in temperatures but the enticing aroma which
emitted from the man in front of him. It kept him in a way captivated and ensnared
like it was meant to paralyze him. Even so, he managed to jerk his hand up and push
away from the weight on him when his finger tips brushed against something soft
and at the same time cool. It didn‟t feel like cloth. Then he realized his fingers were
on the Vampire‟s lips he gasped and tried to pull back but the man grabbed his hand
and held it back.

He almost jumped when an equally cold and wet thing wrapped around his finger.
He felt sharp teeth graze against the skin there and cringed, his body trembling in the
process.

“I r-really don‟t!” ChangMin managed to protest, raising his voice a little and the
Chiroptera drew itself back. He heard a chuckle and a hand reached to grab at his
arm again, the grip around his wrist tighter than before. The detective winced. “Ahh-
wait, let go- what are you-!”

Even before he could finish his sentence, a hand pressed against his neck holding to
the floor, his other arm still stretched out and throbbing against the pressure forced
on him.

“Liar.” The Vampire hissed at him. Then his mouth parted in a silent gasps a two
sharp fangs poke into his wrist, digging deeper in. He felt the blood in his veins being
draw outwards from him and gritted his teeth as the throbbing discomfort turned
into excruciating pain.

“Ahh! S-stop!” He cried out not being able to take it anymore.

All he could do was trash against the pressure on his neck and his wrist as his fluids
were slowly drained from him like his life was slowly depleting outwards. Maybe this
would be his last moments.

Am I going to die here? Just like that?

The Chiroptera‟s eyes burned cyan white as the ChangMin‟s blood coursed through
him igniting a faint lapse of his memory.

Faint flashes, and random memory jolts flashed across the Vampire‟s mind like
glimpses of the past. The images of ChangMin at the barn, boggling over the dead
animals seemed blurry but rather clear before it distorted and shifted to him
standing in front of the large gates of Nieve. It shifted and blurred out taking on the
scene of him chasing away those boys. That variation of recollections took an updraft
and showed the detective at the bar, where his visions caught sight of the Chirprotera.
The nights, the rounds in town. His searches on the web, all flashed across his mind.
Then a rather clear image of ChangMin standing in front of the mirror. No doubt his
features looked the same but he was a different person. Voices zipped across the
Chiroptera‟s head like faint echoes of his name. „ChangMin….ChangMin… Shim
Changmin…‟

The Vampire‟s eyes fluttered at the burst of memories that poured out from his life
fluids and let go promptly. As he did the images disappeared like vapor and he stared
at the detective confused. Still not grasping the whole situation.

“You‟re…not-”

“I told you I‟m not who you‟re looking for!” ChangMin found the strength to retort
and dragged himself backwards as the Chiroptera‟s eyes gleamed at him in the
darkness.

The door flew open and a frustrate voice of Dracula rang out in the chamber.
“JAEJOONG!” He huffed. “How many times do I have to tell you not to patronize
him?”

The Chiropetera sided eyed at Dracula and snorted looking back at ChangMin who
finally, finally got to see his face clearly thanks to even the measly bit of light that
penetrated through the door opening.

The cloaked Vampire walked up to both of them and took his place beside JaeJoong
before squatting to ChangMin‟s level and smile. The detective was taken aback
slightly by the difference in demeanor both from the Chiroptera and Dracula himself.
He expected Dracula do be well… More intimidating.

“I‟m sorry, we‟ve caused you trouble. Do you accept sentiments?” Dracula asked as he
smiled toothily and ChangMin swore he saw those deadly fangs underneath. He
blinked and squirmed back a little making a gap between him and the two vampires.
He noticed the Chrioptera uninterested in their conversations due to the face that he
was looking elsewhere and not at them.

“I- uh...” ChangMin stuttered. “I‟d like to- to leave.”

He jumped in place when Dracula let out a hearty laugh, clutching his stomach.
JaeJoong merely grinned beside him.

“And what if I don‟t let you?” Dracula asked and ChangMin almost felt the irony in
that sentence. He‟s breath took a hitch and the cloaked Vampire laughed again like it
was some kind of sick joke. He looked back at ChangMin and peered into his pupils.
The detective shuddered as those piercing eyes seemed to stare directly into his soul.

“I-“

Dracula chuckled and stood up still looking at ChangMin. “I‟ll give you a proposal
then, human-“He said as JaeJoong rose as well. “I‟ll let you leave, on one condition.”

ChangMin blinked and stared at Dracula expecting the worse. Maybe something like
„join us‟ or „bring us food‟ and by food I mean blood. He balled his fist and bit down
hard on his bottom lip.

“You walk away, and take that you‟ve never seen us in your live. Tell no one about
this encounter or so help me, JaeJoong will rip your throat apart and feast on every
ounce of your blood.”

The detective shuddered at the last word being articulated and swallowed- hard
before he got to his feet, still wobbly from the experience and the blood being drained
out of his body before. His head spun a little before he regained his balance,
supporting himself against the stone walls. So after all, his premonitions have always
been correct. Creatures like Vampires existed and probably Werewolves did as well.
But he couldn‟t walk away, not when the two „suspect‟ were standing right in front of
him. And then again, no one would believe him if he told them that the murders were
done by Vampires. They‟d laugh and mock at him. Still he couldn‟t walk away. The
months of pondering and assuming had already been proven, light was shed on his
theory and yet…

“I promise not to say anything.” He muttered as he staggered pass them to the door.
He past JaeJoong who turned to looked at him in a grin that sent chills down his
spine.

“See you around, human~” He sang and the detective‟s breath made a jump as he
paused. He swallowed.

“Jae…” Dracula reminded and the Chiroptera chortled a little sarcastically.

------------

As promised, ChangMin spent the rest of his week trying to forget whatever he‟d
been through. Though they kept resurfacing in his mind, he would try and shake the
thought off. The pale demeanor of the Chiroptera‟s face flashed across his mind and
he shook his head sharply dispersing the thought.

Dracula….

As the weeks past, those cases that had been dragged for a long time slowly started to
fade to a close as he kept his mouth shut about his experience, consistently agreeing
with his partner that the attacks were done by animals. What could he do?

It so happened that every time he was on his rounds at night and the hairs on the
back of his neck would stand; he knew they were watching, waiting, for the moment
when he couldn‟t take the pressure anymore, when he would finally give in to his
temptation to spill everything out. That‟s when they would attack and he would be
sitting ducks. What could a human do against two powerful creatures like them?

Night after night, he‟d sit in his office hoping that he would be able to get his mind
off work. It was torture.

He heard a chuckle at the far end of his room and opened his eye to find the room
dark. A figure sat at the corner of his office staring at him.

“What do you want?” He muttered warily as he collided his head with the desk. He
was exhausted. He was surprise by his own actions and snapped his head up to greet
the Chrioptera in his face. It had its hands on the desk, starting at the detective.

“You look like him...”

“Like who?” ChangMin asked as he rubbed his forehead.

“….Hmmmm~” The Chiroptera hummed and glided around his desk before propping
himself up on the flat wooden surface. He crossed his legs and continued to stare at
the detective.
“Why are you here???” ChangMin asked feeling a little panicky. “Anyone could come
in a find you and-“

JaeJoong laughed covering his mouth and the sides of his cherry lips curved into a
smirk and pointed to the outside.

“I‟ve put them to sleep.” He sang. “How do you think I got in here~”

ChangMin exhaled a little and asked again. “What are you doing here?”

“I‟m interested-“JaeJoong answered. “You must be his reincarnation.”

“Whose?”

“The wretched human being that locked me and Yunho in our own castle!” He
snarled and ChangMin jerked back a little before Jae‟s intense glare melted into
liquid gold. “Did I scare you?”

Trying not to see frightened, the detective shook his head sharply and JaeJoong
leaned closer. “Liar. I know your deepest darkest desires and wishes, which means I
can see your emotion too.”

“Fine Fine, you caught me.” ChangMin admitted. “Can I turn on the lights now?”

JaeJoong hissed at him and backed him against his chair shoving him to the window.
Then he realized he said the wrong thing. “I‟m sorry!” He apologized frantically
raising his hands like he was surrendering.

“All of you are so predictable.” The Chiroptera taunted and let go as he floated
backwards and Changmin blinked. By the time he realized what had happened, the
lights were back on and JaeJoong had disappeared. Probably back to Nieve. He
sighed and peered out the window. The sun was rising…. That explained.

He banged his head on the table again, groaning aloud. “Well done, Shim, well done.”
He muttered to himself.

Chapter 12
Green slime dripped from the walls of the room and the floor was crawling with rats.
They nipped at the girl‟s toes causing her to scream in horror as she ran upstairs in
vain of getting away from the ghastly sigh. The walls continued to ooze ectoplasm
and blood as shrill hysterical laughter flood the place. She screamed louder trying to
make the outside world hear her, but she was alone, no one would come to her
rescues. She tried to yank on the door knob to her room, but the wooden frame
wouldn‟t budge.

She had no way out as the ghostly figure drew nearer and nearer to her, eyes burning,
long tongue, teeth gnashing and high shrill pitched. She slumped against the door
and begged for mercy trying to make the creature go away. As the figure breathed
down her face, her skin started to melt and dissolve…..
Changmin turned off the television and rolled his eyes. Late night horror movies
never interested him, they always seemed so fake to him, probably due to the fact
that he had met worse- Dracula and his Chiroptera- but all he needed was a break
from a day of hard work. He tossed the remote control to the far end of his sofa and
slouched there sighing heavily. Deciding that sitting there wouldn‟t help, he strolled
into the kitchen to get a cup of water. Sipping on it, he started out his window and
noticed his neighbor‟s kitchen lights on. There was movement and bickering. Seemed
like they were quarreling again. He shrugged his shoulder and turned only to jump in
place.

“The fuck!?” He cursed almost dropping his cup and holding a hand to his chest. “If
you‟re going to sneak up on me, tell me in advance. People like me have a weak heart
you know.”

“It‟s fun to scare you.”

“I don‟t find it fun at all.” He let out an exaggerated gasp. “Aren‟t you supposed to be
way over there? ChangMin pointed to Nieve.

“I told him he could come.” Came a voice from behind him and the detective jerked
backwards again, glaring.

“SHEESH! Will it kill both of you to use a door?”

Dracula laughed and hopped in through the window before taking his place beside
the Chiroptera. ChangMin groaned and walked past them to his living room.

It‟d already become a habit for both of them to drop by ChangMin‟s place every now
and then. Reason being, in the past few months that came, the detective realized that
the attacks on the town were becoming more rampant instead of dying down. No
doubt Jae preferred to take human blood but he had choice and since he was on par
with Dracula, he could go for weeks without feeding at all. That to ChangMin didn‟t
add up. If Dracula and the Chiroptera didn‟t need to feed then why were the attacks
on the town and the animals increasing and not decreasing? He began to realize that
they were not the only ones.

“So the attack at the barn 4 months ago-“

“Not me.”

“… Right.” ChangMin replied, tapping his pen against his file of cases still unsolved.
He pulled out a sheet of paper with the headings „Cow spleen‟ and rubbed his temples.
He still remembered when the frantic barn owner kept pestering him that the cows
were getting slaughtered and their spleens were always missing. He chucked the
paper aside and Jae took a good look at it before giggling. The detective pulled it back
and crumpled the piece of paper, tossing it behind him.
He picked out another stack of cases that were stapled together and flipped through
them carefully, one of which was a case that happened quite recently I might add. He
thumped the tip of the pen against the paper and rubbed his chin.

Cases upon cases, but none of them gave him a lead. He flipped one by one and
mutter to himself under his breath while JaeJoong floated about the living room
grimacing at his sense of decoration and ornament. Dracula sat in front of him,
quietly, eyeing him as usual. He turned a page on to the next case, still no leads. He
shook his head and rubbed his temples. It was getting late and he was sleepy when
his eye caught sight of something rather familiar.

He turned the pages back to the first case where he started and slid his finger down
the paper. The address matched. ChangMin let out a gasp of realization. So those
nights where the town‟s folk told him that the attacks happened close to home, this
was what they meant. He slapped the file close and got up, grabbing his coat before
heading out the door. It was no time to patronize his two guests, he had rounds to do
and even how tired he was, it gave him no excuse to do so. He whipped out his cell
phone and dialed for SeungI.

When his partner arrived, they made their way around the avenue hoping they‟d get
clues. Fortunately for them, it was a rather quiet night, all had gone home for dinner
and there was nothing to disturb them from doing their job.

However like other nights, they found nothing out of the ordinary. Everything
seemed normal when a chill ran down his spine. Thinking it could be the Chiroptera
or Dracula, he spun around to find no one. Could they still be at home? He shook his
head as he continued to search for clues. His trains of thoughts were disrupted when
he heard a horse shout followed by SeungI running across the street, like he was
trying to get away from something. He made to catch up to him but a figure appeared
before swopping down and snatching his partner from the road.

“SEUNGI!” He called out as he ran frantically to get his partner.

The officer struggled in his assailant‟s hold as ChangMin reached for his pistol. He
aimed for the figure attempting to fire but it was too risky seeing it had a hostage. He
chucked his gun back and looked around for a higher landing. He found a roof of a
house and use the rubbish can as his stepping post as he scrambled to the roof. As
the figure flew nearer he leaped off the ledge, nearly missing, but he managed to grab
on to something else. A tail?!

Deciding he didn‟t care he yanked at the appendage trying to pull it to land. The
figure screeched and shoved its tail forward, almost causing ChangMin to slip off, but
he held on for dear life. Making sure he got a good hold of the long appendage, he
dug into his pocket for his gun. He aimed it at the back to the creature and fired two
continuous shots. The air borne figure screamed in pain and dropped the officer,
causing him to tumble on the road before he blacked out, but ChangMin was still
hanging on. It looked down and snarled at him. ChangMin jerked its tail in response
and fired another shot, the bullet digging into its chest.
It was a bumpy right as he continued to cling on to the creature, when something else
collided into them, causing the detective to slip off and the creature to tumble to the
ground behind him. He winced when the ground came into contact with his knee,
grazing it. As he got up, JaeJoong was in front of him, with his back facing him.

“Jae-“ChangMin murmured as he got to his feet, brushing it like it was nothing.

The Chiroptera stuck out an arm as though to shield him and hissed as the other
creature got up, still staggering from the impact. It noticed Jae and screeched at him,
realizing that they were the same kind. The Chiroptera cluck his tongue and shook
his head.

“Attacking an officer, shame on you.” JaeJoong taunted as Dracula appeared behind

ChangMin.

Not wanting to lose to Jae, it snarled and threw itself at JaeJoong who grabbed it
head on, both of them slamming into the rooftop, causing the bricks to loosen and
smash to the ground below. JaeJoong lifted his arm and elbowed it on the head,
sending it sprawling downwards, then he spring-boarded off the roof beam before
slamming into the other. The big impact dug a hole in the concrete flooring when
JaeJoong spun over with the creature in his arms and kicked it out of the trench.

The other winged Vampire landed on the floor with a loud „thud‟ and Jae‟s weight
was on it. The creature squirmed as JaeJoong reached for its skull bashing it into the
floor. ChangMin cringed at the sound of a cracking skull when he remembered
Seungi.

He scooted over to the unconscious officer and shook him gently. Seemed like he was
already out cold. He sighed.

“Get him home.” Dracula said.

“But, he‟s got a concussion!” ChangMin argued.

Dracula looked at him before raising and eyebrow. “He‟s seen us-“

“Wait, you‟re not going to-“ChangMin gulped. “-Kill him are you?”

The cloaked Vampire chuckled and reached down to the unconscious officer.

“Of course not-“He grinned and pressed his finger tips to the man‟s forehead. “I‟m
just going to wipe his memory of this night.”

Jaejoong was not far away surveying the dead vampire in his hands. He tilted its
head to the side and got a glimpse of two bite marks along its neck. He creased his
eyebrows. They were fresh.
“Yunho.” He murmured as he flitted beside Dracula. He whispered into Dracula‟s
ears and the cloaked vampire shot him a look. ChangMin looked confused but
somewhere he knew what was going on.

“Shred the body, make sure no one sees it, and make sure you cover up its scent. We
don‟t want unwanted attention.” Dracula instructed the Chiroptera. He nodded and
left the Vampires‟ side to pick up the dead body. Then he took to the skies.

“You, me, home, now.” Dracula turned to ChangMin and by home, he meant Nieve.

Chapter 13
ChangMin paced up and down the large halls of Nieve thinking of the deadly
encounter he had just a moment ago. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully and tried to
recollect all the cases he‟d come across so far. The cases didn‟t seem to add up and
something told him that the creature knew where he was at that point of time. It was
baffling. He sighed deeply and took his sit in front of the long table.

Dracula peered out the large over hanging balcony of the castle awaiting JaeJoong‟s
return. He noticed ChangMin deep in thought and returned to the large chamber
standing in front of him. He placed his palms on the table and glanced at the pieces
of paper spread over the glossy top. The detective took out his pen and scribbled
something down on the few pieces of paper and stapled them up one by one.

“Why can‟t we do this in my house?” He asked as he organized the cases.

“My dear human-“Dracula began. “The walls have ears.”

ChangMin sniffed. “So you‟re saying that the culprit might be living in my vicinity?”

Dracula smiled and ChangMin knew he‟d asked the right question. He peered down
at those papers in his hands and flipped them again. The location that was recorded
in the stack of cases said that they all happened close together, in clusters. It seemed
that they all happened close to his semi-detached. He creased his eyebrows and
shifted his gaze to JaeJoong as he returned through the balcony.

“I‟ve made sure it‟s ashes.” He assured and scooted over beside Dracula, and then he
glanced over at ChangMin who continued to ponder over the situation. He ruffled his
hair and placed his chin on the table, feeling a headache on coming.

As Dracula and Jae left him to his own business, he tilted his chair on his back and
placed his feet on the table, shuffling through his reports not knowing how long he
had read the same sentence over and over again, he drifted off to sleep. As he did,
blur visions of a foggy dream across his mind.

He woke up the next morning to sun light streaming through the large balcony.
Dracula and his Chiroptera were nowhere in sight, probably hibernating in the
depths of the castle. He stretched and yawned before he placed all his documents
into his file. As he stepped out into the sunlight, he squinted and lifted his arm to
shield his eyes, taking time to get use to the contrast of the dark manor and the
bright environment.

He pulled out his cell phone only to realize that the battery had already died. He
paced home and unlocked the door. His eyes flew open when he realized that his
living room was in a mess. The drape had been ripped and his ornaments that were
placed on the shelves had been smashed to piece on the ground. As he walked further
into his living room, he noticed a trail of blood from the foot of his kitchen following
a ghastly sight the beheld him. A dead corpse was sprawled over his counter top and
he cringed in disgust as he picked up the smell of rotting flesh. He retreated from the
kitchen to pick up the pieces of debris in his home. So Dracula was right after all. Not
only were the attacks close to his home, they somehow had the cheek to taunt him
and how in the world they knew about him, he had no idea. Deciding there was
nothing else he could do around his house, he pulled open his briefcase and chucked
a few shirts (which were thankfully not ripped) and pulled out of his house.

It felt weird residing in a Vampire‟s mansion and a big one but if he were to solve the
case and quick, his mind was made up- It still took hours and persuasion from
Dracula‟s part to convince JaeJoong to let him stay.

Dusk had already arrived; the snow had covered the ground, blanketing it in ice.
ChangMin sat at the corner of the chamber warming himself constantly rubbing his
hands together to induce heat and thought he had an outer coat, he still felt the chill
of the night. The temperature had dropped to a spine chilling negative nine and he
shivered, still doing his „research‟. Thankfully, he managed to find his make shift
laptop so he could at least contact his partner. He curled up into a ball on the large
wooden chair and stared at the papers determined to solve this mind boggling case.
The problem was, he could concentrate with the wind howling through the large
windows that divided the room and the equally large balcony. He sniffed when he felt
something warm draped over his shoulder, covering most of his body.

He jerked up only to find him being settled down by a hand and a chuckle. He turned
to find glossy cherry lips smiling at him. JaeJoong huffed seeing ChangMin‟s strange
expression towards him and glided over to the large arched windows before pulling
them shut, keeping out the chilly wind.

“It gets very cold once in a while.” JaeJoong commented. “I‟ll light a fire.”

ChangMin blinked, not knowing how to take in the sudden kindness from the
Chiroptera.

“I thought you have no emotions?” He randomly asked and Jae turned around, a
block of firewood in his hands. The Chiroptera rolled his eyes and turned his
attention back to lighting the fire.

“I don‟t like to show them. That doesn‟t mean I don‟t have them.”

“Oh…I‟m uh-“
“Sorry?” JaeJoong spun back cracking the firewood in half with his bare hands.
“Don‟t be.”

For the first time, ChangMin witnessed a rather different side of Jae. He was in a way,
motherly, not exactly, he couldn‟t put his finger on it but Jae was definitely warm,
even under that cold icy exterior. When the fire was lit, JaeJoong strolled out of the
chamber, humming a slow silent lullaby. The detective resumed his quest to find the
right answer.

----------------

“Now why can‟t you be that nice to me eh?” Dracula asked as JaeJoong floated into
the large room opposite of where ChangMin was.

“You never asked.”

“I‟m asking now.”

JaeJoong hummed under his breath, ignoring the Vampire‟s question and firm arms
wrapped around his petit waist.

“Yunho- We have a guest, can you not-“His sentence trailed off with teeth nipping at
his earlobes. He shuddered and tried to shake Dracula off. When he succeeded,
Dracula grabbed his arm yanking him back into his arms and held him there, staring
into his eyes. JaeJoong squirmed and hissed at him in defiance. He made to push
away from Dracula but the vampire merely clucked his tongue and tightened his grip
around Jae, worming his hands to his butt.

The Chiroptera‟s lips twitched into a scowl as he was being pressed against Dracula‟s
chest, his breath only a hair length from the Vampire‟s neck.

“What are you doing?” JaeJoong murmured, trying to push away though this time
less persistently, instead his body reacted to the close proximity they were in. He
looked away and frowned still hopelessly arching into Dracula. Having no choice Jae
settled for rolling his hips against the cloaked vampire, indecently their crotches
rubbed against each other and Dracula smirked a little feeling Jae tremble. He leaned
forward and whispered hotly in Jae‟s ear. “How would you like it?”

JaeJoong murmured under his breath and grabbed Dracula by his shoulder, spinning
them back against the wall, pinning Yunho to it. He lean in and licked the vampire on
his lips, before sucking on them passionately. Dracula smirked against those lips and
parted them letting the Chiroptera dominate his easily. He left Jae busy with his
mouth and grabbed a full palm of his butt cheek jerking him upwards, squeezing
them slightly. The Chiroptera took that as an invitation and hooked his legs around
Dracula‟s waist locking them in place, before he began roughly nipping on the
Vampire‟s bottom lip.

“Rough.” JaeJoong commented unconventionally and jerked Dracula‟s head down

for another searing kiss. The cloaked vampire could only hum in agreement and
manuvered them backwards against the wall opposite of them. It made a cracking
noise as Jae‟s back came into contact with it, but he hardly winced. He threw his
head back as Dracula bruised his neck with nips and sucks and all Jae could do was
hook his legs tighter. He groaned when the Vampire‟s teeth managed to expertly find
that spot on Jae‟s collarbone that sent thrills down his body. He‟s mouth parted in a
faint moan, dick rock hard and pressing against his tight leather. He took in a deep
breath and freed himself from Dracula‟s hold before they flew off the wall landing on
the bed behind, the cloaked blood sucker crawling all over Jae. Taking the
opportunity, JaeJoong grinned and ledged his fingers onto Dracula‟s intricately laced
shirt, ripping them off his body exposing bare flesh.

Of course Dracula cursed under his breath and rolled Jae over sending both of them
into the ceiling above. The side of his lips twitched into a slight smirk in the same
motion, clipping the zip of Jae‟s vest between his teeth sliding them down leisurely.
With that, he chucked the garment below not caring where it went and pressed their
bodies flush together, their erections grinding up against one another.

The Chiroptera shifted further backwards, reluctantly unlocking his legs around
Dracula‟s waist pushing his own pants down with his feet, then he turned his
attention for the other‟s pants but Dracula grabbed his hands and undid his own.
Then he grabbed the Chiroptera‟s thighs and jerked them back to his sides, the tip of
his erection teasing Jae‟s rim.

“I‟d like to shove my cock into you but that would be doing you disservice.” Dracula
muttered in Jae‟s ear, his breath fanning against it.

“Yunho-“JaeJoong whispered even softer. “I dare you.”

With that the King of Vampires jerked Jae forward, his member intruding into his
depths, stretching him open, no warning given. All JaeJoong could do was moan in
succession.

“Nggghhhh-“He breathed against Dracula‟s neck feeling the thick rod shift around in
his body and all he could do was clench and squeeze randomly around Yunho, the
friction of dry sex too much for him to handle, but he wasn‟t exactly going to
complain so he settled for scraping lines down Dracula‟s back.

Yunho grunted and slammed into Jae particularly hard causing both of them to fall
back onto the impossibly soft sheets below. Their chest collided in unison and Jae
arched against Yunho as he at the same motion slammed against his prostrate, the
feel insanely good. JaeJoong moans escalated in volume as Yunho repeated the same
movements attacking that spot harshly no caring to set up even a decent rhythm. He
just thrust and Jae‟s mouth was forever handing open in an endless moan. Dracula
leaned forward and caught the Chiroptera‟s lips again, thrusting his tongue down his
cavern, the tempo of his thrust and his tongue too much for Jae to take. He gripped
on tighter and dug his fingers into Dracula‟s back.

“-good, ahh- Yunho- ahh- fuck-“He mewled as he Yunho continued to attack his
lower region, not giving him a break from the wave of pure pleasure and rough heat
coursing through his veins. He felt like every nerve in his body was on fire just by
Yunho touching, dancing his fingers along his thighs, to his butt, up along his back,
to his neck then to his lips where they kissed for the umpteen time that night.

They shifted back against the wooden carved head board of the bed and the frame
smacked against the wall in a thud inducing a little chuckle from JaeJoong, still
hopelessly under Yunho, losing the feel of his member against brushing against his
prostrate. He whined in succession and sought to find the right angle himself as he
fought to impale deeper. Yunho noticed and grabbed Jae‟s waist, in order to slam up
into him and when Jae buckled under him, he knew he‟d found what he was looking
for and with that notion he drew JaeJoong into another wet sloppy kiss hammering
into his relentlessly. The Chiroptera‟s fingers had already fisted themselves around
the sheets, scratching lines, ripping it to long shreds. It was hard and fast and no
mercy but who cared?

It didn‟t come with a warning as JaeJoong totally arched off the bed, slamming into
Yunho‟s chest as his thick white fluids splattered across his chest, smearing over
Dracula‟s stomach, his own catching some. Yunho too had already reached his limit,
spilling his seed into Jae. The sensation had JaeJoong‟s lips parting in another series
of moans before Yunho pulled out and propped himself up with his hands still
staring at the Chiropetra. He grinned and leaned forward to kiss him again.

“How long has it been since we made love in a proper manner?” He asked as he
nudged their foreheads together.

“Since when did we have a normal one when we‟re always flying all over the
place?”JaeJoong side eye, but he snuck a peck to Yunho‟s lips and smiled softly. “I‟m
sorry-“

Dracula looked at Jae confused and asked. “For what?”

“For being mean...”

“I like it when you‟re mean, it turns me on.” Dracula joked and JaeJoong pushed him
off clicking his tongue in the process.

“You‟re never serious.”

“And you love me.”

Chapter 14
Sounds of horses, lashes and shouting echoed through the forest, knights in armor,
and a special one. The trees blew past them as they rode horse back towards their
target. Sounds of fighting and turmoil. Ragging fires, hissing creatures that bore
fangs and preyed on blood. A silent prayer….

A stand... Blurry images…

“Commander Shim, we have the place surrounded!”

“Good! Round up every single blood sucker and rid them of their misery!”

“YES SIR!”

A war…

A familiar face…

ChangMin‟s eyes fluttered open as he lay perfectly still in the over sized bed. A foggy
image of a forest still floated around under his eyelids. They seemed so real but
unreal at the same time, probably a distant memory of something, not that he knew
off and yet, it seemed tangible. He was still residing in Dracula‟s mansion until who
knows when but that wasn‟t the problem. He still had to come up with a way to solve
the case and quick, or the town‟s people would continue to suffer as they did. Rather
now, he felt a little more confidence than he did in the past – he now had two
Vampires willing to assist him – that you do not have the liberty of having all the
time.

His papers were fully occupied with his scribble and he searches he had compared to.
Seungi was up and well, giving him insights considering he had a blow to his head.
Dracula sat at the other end of the long table staring at ChangMin as he did his paper
work and JaeJoong merely floated around Dracula as usual.

“I don‟t get it.”ChangMin murmured, too soft of normal human beings to hear but he
was sure Dracula heard it because the vampire cocked his head up and rose a brow.

“Don‟t get what?”

“I don‟t get how they knew. I don‟t get how the hell they knew I was living there.”
ChangMin pondered more to himself clasping his palms together and creasing his
brows. Then he ruffled his hair and continued to scribble stuff onto the papers.

JaeJoong shot Yunho a look and he nodded.

“I took a better look at the corpse that I was going to burn-“Jae began. The detective
shot his head up to make eye contact with the Chiroptera.

“And?”

Jae turned to Dracula again who gave him the green light and turned back to face
ChangMin. “When he phased back, there was a tattoo on his arm.” JaeJoong replied
unconventionally.

“A tattoo?” ChangMin asked, and rubbed his chin wistfully.

“Sound familiar?” Dracula asked.

The detective glanced away at the wall like he was thinking of something.
“My neighbor also has a tattoo on his arm-“He added. “Which arm?”

“Right.”

“Right? He has one on his right too-“ ChangMin replied feeling more and more
confused or rather, coincidence struck him. “Did it look like a snake?”

JaeJoong nodded and ChangMin‟s eyes flew open with shock. “OH MY GOSH! I‟ve
been living right next to them and I didn‟t even notice a thing!”

Dracula rose another brow when ChangMin got out of his chair and paced up and
down the length of the table. He massaged his temples and kept mumbling to himself.
How did he not realize? Come to think of it. His neighbors had never set foot out of
the house once when it was morning; they only came out at night. They always
seemed so pale but he‟d never bothered because he assumed it was the lightings
around their area. The thing was, they‟d always remained so silent, but why now?
Why choose now to attack?

He spun around and grabbed his coat before heading out the room.

“Where are you going?!” Dracula asked as ChangMin made for the fight of winding
stairs racing down the length and heading towards the big double arch doors.

“To arrest them!”

The vampire clucked his tongue and peered over the ledge of the second floor railing.
“No you don‟t! Come back here!”

“- and let more innocent people die?! I don‟t think so!” The detective hollered from
below before pushing the doors open. He got a face full of wind in the process and
pulled his collar up.

“You‟re a fool!”

“No I‟m not! I have a gun!”

“So what? Are you going to put a bullet to their heads?”

ChangMin glared at Dracula who glared back at him in defiance not understand what
he meant. Then deciding he didn‟t care, he took off.

The Vampire huffed in annoyance and turned to JaeJoong who nodded in a silent
acknowledgment and made his way out the door after the detective. The look on
Dracula took him that he the boy was probably going to get killed in the process.
Normal guns didn‟t have an effect on creatures like that. It‟d only make them more
pissed. However on top of that, the Vampire saw something in ChangMin that
reminded him so much of their nemesis two centuries ago- Determination.
Making his way to his designated location, the detective was suddenly confronted by
a strong downdraft of wind and a piercing sonic screech. He was however well
prepared due to past experiences, he had ear plugs.

Seeing there was no effect on the detective, the creature landed in front of ChangMin
and spat a hiss at him before smiling wickedly. Immediately ChangMin recognized
those sharp features anywhere. He gritted his teeth and pointed his pistol at the
vampire.

“Hello, boy~” It said, voice caring a horse edge to it, long wavy hair and slander.
ChangMin realized that it was a „she‟ he was dealing with now. He held his gun
nonetheless and threatened to pull the trigger when the vampire laughed, hysterical.
Then she stopped and stared at him, eyes gleaming with killer instinct, and then she
leaped at him but missed by a mile when another foot slammed into her abdomen.

ChangMin turned to see the Chiroptera land beside him and both turned as the other
vampire got up and growled in anger. She peered at the Chiroptera and tilted her
head in confusion.

“Why are you helping this- this human?”

“It‟s none of your business.” JaeJoong snapped, whipping his tail in order to snag at
her wrist, pulling her into his grip. “Now if you would kindly just die.” He whispered
into her pointed ears and slashed downwards, ripping flesh out.

The blood that came out together with it spurted against his face and the vampire
dropped to the floor, body in half. ChangMin cringed and turned away not thinking
of looking at the sight for more than a minute. Then he decided to ignore the dead
body on the floor and turned to Jae who was expertly cleaning his fingers- with his
tongue.

“Um, thank?” He asked and got a hand to his collar, raising him off the floor. He
squirmed in Jae‟s hold and grabbed his wrist. It was like before except this time
JaeJoong was angry at him.

“Which part of don‟t go out do younot understand?” He hissed as he pulled the

detective closer to his face, eyeing him sternly. “I‟d imagined if I got here a minute
later, you‟ll look like her.”

ChangMin bit on his lower lips and looked away. JaeJoong was right so he didn‟t
want to argue. The Chiroptera let him go and turned to survey the vampire on the
ground. He bent down run a finger along the side of her neck, furrowing at the sight
of two holes down the line. They had already closed up leaving scars, but definitely
bitten, when he didn‟t know. Deciding that leaving the body in the open would attract
more of the others, he picked it off the ground and tossed it to ChangMin who
fumbled with the bloody mess, grimacing at it in disgust.

“You‟re shittin‟ me right?”He asked as he leaned away from the thing.

JaeJoong shoot him a look which looked like „do I look like I‟m kidding?‟ and huffed.
He made to turn when something else big and furry slammed directly into him
sending him tumbling backwards. The impact was so big; JaeJoong had to dig his
fingers into the ground to stop himself from rolling backwards anymore.

ChangMin didn‟t even have time to comprehend the sudden sneak attack when a
hand or more like a paw shove him of the ground. He flew backwards hitting
JaeJoong in the process causing the Chiroptera to slam up against the brick wall,
ChangMin in his arms, softening the detective‟s landing. JaeJoong pushed him off
and got to his feet, brushing off the pieces of debris that were caught in his hair. Then
he heard a deafening roar followed by the creature which crashed through the
already battered wall, shattering it even more.

ChangMin swallowed hard when the creature reared up, towering over him and
probably JaeJoong.

“Oh, you have got to be kidding me.” He cursed under his breath. The Chiroptera
creased his brow.

Chapter 15[Finale]
“Oh, you have got to be kidding me.”

===================================================

ChangMin stepped back a little, in the process bumping into JaeJoong who shifted
him to the side and stepped in front of him. He glared at the large furry monster
from the dust that kicked up at its entry, still keeping his eye on it as he shuffled past
ChangMin, nudging the detective back a little more.

When the dust had settled, the detective finally found out who they were really
dealing with. It had a head which looked so much like a vampire bat except edges of
its mouth were laced with rows of sharp teeth. Milk white fur wrapped around its
neck, covering most of its shoulder to its supposedly chest, onto of that, bat like
wings grew out from the side of the creature‟s arms, much like a bat except this one
walked on two muscular legs instead of crawling on fours. Its eyes were bloody red so
much different from Jae. He found himself trembling.

“Seen this before?” ChangMin murmured under his breath to JaeJoong.

“First time.”

“Oh, swell…”

The ground vibrated as it took a step forward emphasizing its large size and weight
and the Chiroptera squeezed his fingers into a fist. It wasn‟t like he‟d never dealt with
things twice his size but this was different. This was something new.

“When I asked you to run, you run.” JaeJoong whispered loud enough for ChangMin
to hear. The boy nodded before shifting his feet in preparation. Without warning, the
humongous monster charged forward, fangs baring, saliva dripping. It grabbed a
fistful of air as JaeJoong leaped above its head in a graceful somersault before
landing on it. JaeJoong proceeded to dig his claws into whatever he could dig into,
indecently hitting close to its‟ neck.

The creature roared and reached above in vain to grab at Jae. Seeing it was no use, it
settled for bulling through the other brick wall in front, smashing and crashing it
with the Chiroptera holding on tightly, reluctant to let go when it changed course and
went for the detective.

“Run! Now!” JaeJoong shouted from a far and ChangMin plucked his feet from the
ground racing off.

With that Jae let go and threw himself off the creature landing on the platform of the
construction site, retreating backwards further and further from the entrance of the
place in hopes that it would not harm the town‟s folk. Apparently it worked because
the bat like creature burst through the concrete top chasing after Jae like a predator
to its prey. Being light on his feet, the Chiroptera skidded backwards using his wings
as a shield form the debris that flew at him constantly, ducking and dodging.

It came to a point where he realized fleeing wasn‟t an option so he settled for

breaking through the roof, and the creature followed suit, out of the construction
building as both took to the skies, still JaeJoong having the upper hand due to his
light weight.

Meanwhile, ChangMin burst through the large arched doors of the castle giving
Dracula quite a surprise. He was even more surprised when the boy expounded the
whole situation to him. A bat monster? Two feet? Big and furry?

“Slow down boy!” Dracula commanded as he flopped in front ChangMin from the
stair way. ChangMin wanted to explain further but he was too panicky and his voice
had already taken a high pitched edge. He‟s breathing was in erratic rhythms.

“There-!”ChangMin couldn‟t finish his sentence as JaeJoong smashed in to the hall

from the large stain glass above the mansion‟s roof, tumbling to a side, an arm
missing.

Dracula finally grasped the situation before rushing over to pick his injured lover up.
He ran a hand over Jae‟s shoulder, stopping at the empty space from his severed limb.
JaeJoong cursed under his breath as he sat up clutching his bleeding side. “Fuck.”

“Uh- Guys!” ChangMin warned as he looked up to see a large shadow loom over head.
He took matters into his own hands and pulled out his pistol, punching bullet out of
the glass earning a rather off handed screech. The projectiles were hitting but
nothing worked. It broke in like a large cannon ball and the impact shocked
ChangMin off his feet into the table behind. He scrambled to his feet reaching for
anything to grab at; in this case he picked up a harpoon which was probably an
ornament before.

Dracula stopped him.

“I can help!”

“No you can‟t.”

“Yes I can!”

The king of vampires turned and glared at him. “This is something out of your league!
Not something you can handle! You‟re a human, boy! Not a Vampire, if you die, you
die, now put down that harpoon and let me-!”

His sentence was cut off when a large hand slammed into his back, the impact strong
enough to break any study metal or concrete but the creature found its hand stopped
by Dracula as he snapped his head back, blocking his mid swing. His eyes burned
cyan white as he grabbed a fist full of the creature‟s large hand, twisting it violently.
It howled in pain and pulled back.

“It‟s rude to interrupt when people are talking.” Dracula admonished. “It‟s even
rudder when you budge into people‟s house uninvited.”

The monster jerked as a stinging pain shot up its spiked spine, something sharp
digging into it. JaeJoong had expertly ledged himself onto its back while it was
preoccupied with Dracula, constantly throwing slashes at it.

“YOU OWE ME AN ARM DAMMIT!” JaeJoong complained as he ripped flesh out.

Even with one hand missing, he was rather nimble. He clung on like a rodeo cowboy
trying to hang on to a raging bull with the creature constantly trying to shake him off.
Seeing it was almost impossible to shake Jae off, the creature reversed and slammed
its back against the stone pillar hopping to get the Chiroptera off it. The collision
broke the pillar in half and it tumbled to the ground, smashing into pieces. The
ceiling which incidentally was held up by it crumbled to the floor along with it,
creating a big gap above.

“At this rate, it‟s going to demolish everything.” Dracula muttered as ChangMin took
his side beside the vampire.

“Tell me about it.”ChangMin agreed then he stood up and waved, trying to attract the
creature‟s attention. “AYY UGLY! OVER HERE!” He shouted.

The detective succeeded and it charged in their direction, or more like the detective‟s
direction.

“What the heck are you trying to do?!” Dracula cried exasperatedly. He unclipped his
cloak and shot himself at the creature, slamming his foot into its abdomen sending it
sprawling backwards. JaeJoong let go, landing in front of Dracula. He stared at his
missing limb and grimaced.

“I still need my arm.”

“You‟ll get your arm back, now why don‟t you give me a boost eh?” Dracula turned to
Jae in a question. The Chiroptera rose a brow.

“Boost?”

“Yeah.”

Getting what Yunho meant, JaeJoong grinned as Dracula did a simple jump off the
floor and with all his might, JaeJoong slammed his palm against the bottom of the
Vampire‟s boot acting as a spring board except for his one, the spring board had a lot
of more force. It catapulted Dracula forward at high speed, breaking the wind barrier.

The creature managed to get to its feet, furious that it was about to be beaten by two
smaller beings. It roared and stampeded forward when its face came into contact
with Dracula‟s fist.

“Shut your mouth. It smells.” The Vampire smirked, his blow sending the gigantic
bat monster out of the mansion‟s wall and into the vast field outside. Mission
accomplished.

JaeJoong made his way beside Dracula as they both leaped out from the mansion
into the field. The space was finally enough for them to let go with no restrictions and
no blockages. It was all out war. Dracula turned to Jae who looked back at him, and
their eyes told each other everything in a silent whisper. If we‟re going down, we go
down fighting.

ChangMin was left in the mansion, his mind floating around the vast façade of the
place. He wanted to help, but how? For some strange reason too, he‟d seen this castle
before. Maybe not in this life but in his dreams. He spun around recognizing faint
structures. The stain glass high above, the intricately crafted stone pillars, the marble
flooring and concrete walls, they all reminded him of something familiar. A faint jolt
of memory flashed across his eyes this time changing seeming rather haunting. A war
happened before his eyes, of vampires and Paladin and a faint mist of the chaos that
happened two centuries were playing like a movie right before his eyes. He saw
Dracula and his Chiroptera, fighting, probably to save something. Their home, their
dignity.

A talisman.

And just like a movie, the clip vanished before his very eyes. When he snapped back
to reality, he realized that it wasn‟t just a faint dream or an illusion. It was a memory,
but not his, it belonged to his ancestor. He broke out into a sprint as he raced down
the basement, along the dark corridors, into a large chamber where he knew he‟d
find the answer. He snapped his head back and forth in search of the only thing
which he knew would send that creature back to hell.

Then he found it.

A gleaming object stuck out from the crumbled wall just meters from his feet. It was
glowing gold and shining, but instead of being a talisman, it was something rather
long and sharp.

A blade.

He jerked as a voice floated through his head, faint whispers and calls like they
echoed against the walls, bouncing around.

The world will never be safe from creatures…. like them. You are me-

Save them.

As he uncovered the blade from the debris, it glowed even brighter signifying it was
his to wilde. He chuckled a little when he remembered as a young boy he‟d always
dreamt of holding something like this and in his years of experience as a detective
never did he think that he would be holding a sword, or something of that sort. It was
like some movie where the hero would learn how to swing a sword and become a
knight. So what was he now? A knight?

He shook his head, having none of that notion and raced up the winding flights of
stairs to the open. Dracual and his Chiroptera were still pre-occupied by the monster,
going nowhere, no one winning or losing. He peered down at the long sword in his
hand and took a big step out of the broken wall into the open field. His fingers
gripped onto the handle tighter than ever, and then he was flat out running, not
knowing where it would take him.

Yunho and JaeJoong took turns as the kicked and slashed at the large creature in
front of them and even with one limb missing, JaeJoong made do of his infirmities,
resolving to using his feet and tail. Slashes turned into kicks, as he swung his tail like
a longer projectile, whipping its jaw close very time it got too close to snapping at
him. Dracula on the other hand used his brute strength, grabbing an armful of the
creature, slamming it backwards in a suplex. The Chiroptera did the next thing he
thought of and ledge himself onto its face blocking its vision.

“You can‟t walk if you can‟t see now, heel!”He commanded. Dracula swept his foot
under the monsters‟ legs and it dropped to the ground like a log.

He turned when he smelt ChangMin a far off, hands holding something long and
gleaming. That would do.

Leaving JaeJoong for a brief moment, Dracula landed beside ChangMin who drew
out the long blade. He stared at it and furrowed his brows, remembering the
wretched markings that line the gold blade.

Anti Vampire spell.

He took a step back a little but decided that ChangMin was not going to use that on
him. He offered a lift. ChangMin nodded and the Vampire grabbed his shoulder
lifting them off the ground in a short lift.
The blade glowed even brighter as he neared JaeJoong and the monster. ChangMin
raised it causing the big bat like creature to roar as it turned its attention to him,
probably recognizing what it was. It bounced Jae off its back and charged towards
the armed detective.

He jumped a little and drew out his pistol again, pulling the trigger, punching bullets
straight into its chest. Still having no effect whatsoever, he threw his empty gun away
and drew the sword out into a point. Then he set out into a run, hoping he‟d end this
in one blow. His heart was pounding against this chest and his breath was coming
out in short gasps. Not that he didn‟t have any stamina, he was heaving nerves but as
he ran, Dracula took one flank on his right and the Chiroptera the other.

Security never seemed better.

Clash of the titans you say? Well...

ChangMin threw the sword with all his might, like a javelin and as it reached
precisely at the target, the creature slapped the sword away like it was a toy. He
cursed under his breath as he continued to run, reaching for the sword.

The creature raised its hand to slam into ChangMin but Jae had it under control. He
grabbed the monster by the hand and flipped it over, the detective managed to dive
for the sword where he scrambled forward gripping the handle tightly again. With
that Dracula lifted him off the floor and threw him head first at the creature where he
plunged the blade directly into its heart.

The detective blinked as the creature howled in pain, the tip of the blade piercing its
beating organ. ChangMin pushed harder causing it to totally burst into ashes under
him. Then he felt to the floor exhausted.

He closed his eyes as the cold wind caressed his face, blowing across the field of grass.
Snow started to fall again.

The battle was won.

“Remind me never to do that again.” ChangMin panted and Dracula stuck out his
hand to pick the exhausted boy up. JaeJoong was still pouting over his missing arm.

-----------------------------

You‟d say it‟s impossible to make friends with Vampire, but I did, and two of em‟. I
don‟t regret ever making friends with them because of what they did for me. I used
to think they were evil creatures but not all of them are.

Vampires still exist and there are still many of them out there. Some of which are
evil. Though I‟m not tasked to hunt them down, I assist them instead. I‟ve learnt a
lot from them and I‟m still learning. We‟ve became closer over the months and I
don‟t regret a moment of it-
“Are you still writing that post?” JaeJoong asked as he hung from the ceiling, almost
scaring ChangMin half to death. The boy jumped and clutched his chest, trying to
sooth his beating heart. It was already 1am past midnight and he was on his laptop
fiddling with his blog entry. Though he wrote them, he hardly put his name it in to
keep his identity anonymous.

“Sheeh! If you‟re going to scare me, inform me sooner.”

“I told you I don‟t handle animal deaths ma‟am.” ChangMin grumbled behind the
woman who lost her dog.

Things never changed and every night, when he was supposed to go for round,
ensuring no crime was being committed. Seungi had transferred to a rather suitable
job for him since his last encounter with the other kind and ChangMin was a little
relived. He didn‟t really need an extra partner seeing that he had two Vampires
watching out for him or over him if you‟d like it. The boy had already changed his
profession seeing being an officer was more rewarding than lame searches.

He spotted someone breaking it in the wee hours of the morning and rushed over,
gun poised and ready to fire if he did anything else.

“STOP RIGHT THERE!”He yelled and the man dropped his crowbar before taking
off. “YAH!”

Presuming that he was ahead of the officer, the man smirked and continued to run
only to come face to face with a pretty boy. He snorted, pulling out a knife and
pointing it at him in a threat. The man in front of him didn‟t budge, just stare.

“Move if you know what‟s good for you bitch!”He warned and attempted to slash at
the man when a hand grabbed his twisting it behind his back. The thief yapped as
ChangMin closed in on both of them. He turned to the man and smiled.

“I thought you were with Yunho.”He asked.

“I was bored so I decided to play officer.” JaeJoong commented before jerking the
man‟s‟ hand harshly earning a whine.

“Leaving me alone I see?” Dracula floated above.

“Go home Yunho…”

ChangMin grinned and laughed.

“Come home with me.”

“Fine.” JaeJoong grumbled, shoving the thief to ChangMin before he turned to wave
over his shoulder. Then he took to the skies.

Love… Does exist…

You just have to find it….
