2 NTD LIFTS AB
Door Opener

1 General
This installation manual has been prepared as an aid in installing a
NTD LIFTS AB door opener 2000.

NTD door opener 2000 is a hydraulic door opener that offers convenient opening of lift doors. If
the door opener is not controlled by an electronic impulse, it functions as an ordinary door
opener.

The opening and closing speeds are adjustable, as is the time the door remains open. If the door
meets an obstruction during the opening phase (such as a person), the door stops and goes back
when it has finished its cycle. The opening phase can be cancelled from the control panel inside
the lift.

Sprocket (4)
Transfers force to the door closer.

Pressure monitor (5)

Gives a signal to the control board which, in its turn, gives a signal to the opening valve which
opens if there is excess pressure. Such as if somebody tries to force the door closed. The pre-set
pressure is 50 MPa. If the screw is turned CW (clockwise), the pressure before it gives a signal
increases, if the screw is turned CCW (anti-clockwise), the pressure falls.

Oil filler cap (6)

Cap for refilling the system with oil.

Bypass valve (7)

The valve that lets oil flow back into the tank if anything stops the door when it opens, or if the
motor continues running although the cylinder is fully pulled. Preset to 45 MPa. If the screw is
turned CW (clockwise), the flow to the cylinder increases, if the screw is turned CCW (anti-
clockwise), the to the cylinder falls.

Opening valve (8)

NO (normally open) function, closes when it receives a signal from the control board, so that oil
flows to the cylinder.

Electric motor (9)

2 Safety advice

2.1 General

This section must always be read by the mechanics and the mechanics must have studied the
information before the work is started.
 Mechanics need to be responsible to ensure they follow safe systems of
work and any health and safety regulations for the country and work
place where the assembly is carried out.
 The product is only manufactured and intended to be assembled as
described in this manual. Modifications of the product or divergence
from the prescribed procedure can affect the function and safety of the
lift. NTD LIFTS AB takes no responsibility for operating faults or lack
of security that accrues as a result of this.
 Always switch off, isolate and lock off the electrical supply when
working on electrical components or if there is a risk from sudden lift
start.
 Put up signs and block off a safe working zone around the assembly
area.
 When using chemical products, always read and follow the
manufacturer instructions and warnings on the package.
 Only, authorised agents of Cibes Lift, may carry out the assembly.
Electrical installation must only be carried out by authorised persons.
Warning! Deviation from the Assembly instruction or bypassing safety components involves
risks that can result in serious personal injury. Any deviation from the Assembly instruction or
bypassing must be documented and reported to NTD LIFTS AB. NTD LIFTS AB is not liable
for accidents occurring as a result of this.

Mechanics must always write a report detailing why he has deviated from the stated instructions.
Mechanics must cordon off the working area so that no unauthorised persons can come inside the
cordon and possibly be hit by falling objects.
Work with an open door:
The lift may have left the floor resulting in an accident risk due to falling. A cordon must be set
up around the workplace.

2.2 Falling components

WARNING – Falling components

Assembly of the lift involves working at heights at which there is
a risk of falling components. This may cause personnel injury
and/or product damages.
1. Make sure that mounted components are fitted, or placed securely so that they
cannot fall down before work in the lift shaft starts.

2. Never work in the lift shaft if another person is working above.

2.3 Component damage

CAUTION – Component damage

The lift has printed circuit boards (master node, door node,
alarm card, control unit and door opener) which are sensitive to
damage.
1. Take precautions when working in the vicinity of printed circuit boards so that they
do not become damaged.

2. Before touching the node boards, touch an earthed object.

2.4 Safety equipment

A building helmet must be worn during all work in the lift shaft. Use safety gloves for all
installation work. Use safety goggels and ear protection during installation work.

2.5 Measures at electric accidents

At electric accidents, the following precautions shall be taken:

1. Switch the power off immediately. Should it not be possible to switch off the power,
the injured person must be released from the live component. A non-conductive
material must be used when removing the injured person, for example, rubber
gloves. If possible, the person performing the freeing action should stand on an
isolating surface.

2. If the injured person is not breathing, ensure that the airways are clear and start
artificial respiration. In the event of cardiac arrest, give cardiac massage.

3. If the injured person is breathing, but is unconscious, he/she should be placed in the
recovery position.

4. Summon personnel at the workplace trained in first aid and call an ambulance.

3 Assembly instruction
3.1 Unpacking
Check that all material has been delivered, and is undamaged. Carefully unpack all components.

3.1.1 Handling of packaging

All packaging material has been chosen on the basis of its environmental impact, and should be
sorted into re-usable, flammable and land-fill fractions.

3.2 Installation
The pivot for the door opener must be installed 170 mm from the door hinge. This is difficult to
measure, so a description is enclosed, of the position where the door opener should be installed on
each door front in relation to the door blade. The relationship is the same for right-hand hung
doors.

Remove the cover and mark the holes out. The opener is fixed with four M6 screws and the hole
for the cables must be drilled out to Ø25 mm.

3.2.1 Adjusting the door opener

It is important that the door opener is correctly adjusted, so that it can open and close as it should
do. When the cylinder is retracted, the door should be fully open (90°). When the door is closed,
the cylinder should be fully extended.

1. Undo nut (1).

2. Turn pulley (2).

3. Make sure that the pulley is adjusted so that the cylinder is fully extended and the
chain is tensioned when the door is closed. If not, the screw for the arm and the
pulley must be loosened and the pulley moved until the chain is tensioned.

4. Tighten the nut after adjustment.

3.4.2 Adjusting the opening speed

Power to the electric motor is controlled by the PWM on the circuit board. This can be adjusted
in 16 stages, from 0-F, where 0 is minimum and F is maximum. There must be a balance between
the power for the electric motor and the flow through the bypass valve (see below), to prevent the
door from opening too fast.

Adjusting the
opening
speed

Fig 2000_Ass_15.wmf

Figure 11 Adjusting the opening speed

3.4.3 Closing speed adjustment
Closing speed is adjusted by the screws on the door opener. Screw no. 1 is turned CW
(clockwise) to make the door close slower. Screw no. 2 is turned CCW (anticlockwise) to release
the door for the last part of its travel. This is normally screwed in all the way.

3.4.4 Opening angle adjustment

When the door is fully open, the piston should be fully withdrawn into the cylinder. If the door is
not fully open anyway, you might have to adjust the chain tensioner.

1. Undo the nut (1) and screw the chain tensioner (2) into the piston, by turning the
piston (4), to open the door.

2. If this adjustment is not enough, the pulley (3) is not correctly adjusted. Please
refer to section 3.2.1 and Figure 3.

3.4.5 Adjusting the bypass valve
If the cylinder is not able to pull, although the motor has run through its cycle, the bypass valve
might be wrongly adjusted. This lets the oil flow back into the tank instead of into the cylinder. If
screw (1) is turned CW (clockwise), the flow to the cylinder opens and the “strength” of the
cylinder increases, i.e. the force in the door blade increases.

3.4.6 Adjusting the pressure monitor

If the door opener rejects a signal to open, the cause could be that the pressure monitor is set to
insufficient system pressure. This sends a signal to the control board that the pressure in the
system is too high, the valve and the motor are switched off and the door closes. If screw (1) is
turned CW (clockwise), this sets higher system pressure, and if screw (1) is turned CCW (anti-
clockwise), this sets lower system pressure. This adjustment is very sensitive, so an adjustment of
±30-60° is normally sufficient. It is preset to 50 MPa.

Safety and general information

INTRODUCTION
The GL2 is a line emulator that simulates a standard telephone line, it can be used together with all SafeLine
telephones or any other PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) telephone.

Easy to install and no programming needed, makes it suitable for both temporary and permanent installation.

GL2 can be used with a prepaid cash-card or a standard subscription SIM-card.

SIM

To release the SIM-

card: Push the Yellow
button

LED
There are 4 LED’s indicating the units current status. When supply voltage is connected, the red LED starts
flashing with 2 Hz. When the unit has been logged on to the GSM-net after approx. 15 sec to 1min, red
LED stops flashing, and the green LED starts flashing with 1 Hz indicating that the unit has been logged on.

GSM-field.
If the push button on the unit is pressed for 3 sec the GSM field intensity will be displayed for 5sec. Best
field intensity is when all 4 LED’s are lit.

USING THE SIM CARD

Before you can start using a new SIM card, the card has to be prepared.

The SafeLine GL2 can only recognize the PIN code if the code is set to “0000”, “1234”, “1111” or if it is
deactivated. If the PIN code is set to “0000” or if it is deactivated the SIM card can be moved from the
SafeLine GL2 to any of SafeLine GSM products. If the code is set to “1234” the SIM card can be moved to
another SafeLine GL1/GL2/GL4/GL5 unit if the software version is 3.10 or higher.
If the PIN code is set to “1111” the SIM card cannot be moved to any other telephone (SafeLine or
otherwise) without the PUK code.

PIN code (set to “0000”, “1234” or deactivate).

1. Insert the SIM card in an ordinary cellular phone. In the “Security settings” menu, change the
PIN code to “0000”. If this is not possible , set the PIN code to “1234” or set the ”PIN code request”
option to “OFF”.

2. Verify the PIN code by switching your phone off and on again.

3. Make a call from your phone to verify that the SIM card is active, before you move it to the SafeLine
GL2.

4. Also make a call to SafeLine GL2 after insertion to check that it is possible to get a proper connection.

NOTE!
If you enter the wrong PIN code 3 times, the SIM card will be
blocked (requires PUK code to unblock). The SafeLine GL2 can
not be started if inserted and the LED will turn red.

If PIN code “1234” is used make sure the SafeLine GL2 software
is 3.10 or higher.

You can protect the SIM card against unauthorized use.

1. Insert the SIM card in a cellular phone.
2. In the “Security settings” menu, change the PIN code to
“1111”. When the SIM card is inserted in the SafeLine
GL2, the code will be changed to a random number,
thus making it impossible to use the card in another
cellular phone unless it is unblocked by means of the
PUK code.

Troubleshooting

TROUBLESHOOTING
The red LED does not start flashing when unit is connected to supply voltage.
Check the supply voltage polarity. Make sure that the supply voltage is: 12 or 24VDC

All 4 LED’s starts flashing rapidly.

Make sure that the SIM-card is correctly positioned. Check that the SIM-cards PIN-code is deactivated or
that the PIN-code is set to ”0000” or ”1111” (see the section SIM-card). Make sure that the SIM–card is
activated and ”works” by testing the card in an cellular phone.

The call is interrupted directly after being connected.

If the unit is powered from a battery make sure the battery is properly charged. If the unit is powered from
a AC/DC or DC/DC transformer make sure that it can deliver 0.25A continuous current.

Call can not be connected! Error message from telephone operator.

To make a call, area code must always be used.

INTERFERENCE / POOR SOUND QUALITY.
Bear in mind that the wiring between GL2 and the lift telephone/phone is basically a “standard”
PSTN-line and can therefore not be placed in the lifts travelling cable together with high voltage.
*** (Risk of interference)*** Always place the antenna in an upward position and at least 70 cm
from GL2. Place the antenna where the highest field intensity is obtained according to the table
on the unit. When a call is connected try placing the antenna in different places to find where
the best receiving/sending position is.

CONNECTING THE UNIT

Connect the unit to power 12V DC.
External telephone can be connected on terminal or modular connector.
Note! only connection pins 3 and 4 should be used.

Before Trouble shooting Hisselektronik
www.safeline.se

Before you start the trouble shooting.

Most problems can be solved by checking the following 5 items:

The units Led’s:

Green Led should be flashing every 5 seconds.
Yellow Led should not be lit.
Check chapter “Led’s“ for more information.

Does the unit pass the self test?

Check chapter “Self test“ for more information.

Does the phone line work?

The yellow LED should not be lit.
Check the line by using SafeLine™ MX² to make an external call, refer to
chapter “Call from SafeLine“ for more information.

Is the unit programmed ?

At least one telephone number and one ID Code (not needed for voice) must be
programmed to make a call from the unit.

If nothing else helps:

Restore the unit to factory settings: *99*1#
Set one known telephone number ( for example your mobile )
*11* xxxxxxx # (xx = your telephone number)
Initiate an emergency alarm *94*1#.

If using protocol, CPC, P100 or Q23 as call type,
check if your alarm operator supports the chosen alarm type.
Change call type to “VOICE” if no protocol is used.

Sound quality is poor / distorted:

Volume might be to loud! try lower the volume. Check chapter “Volume Control“
for more information.

Noise / Disturbance:
Humming is heard when a call is connected.
If the main unit is installed on the car roof the problem might be induction
on the phone line. According to the phone companies regulations, the phone line
must be mounted in a separate cable, not in the travelling cable together
with main voltage.

GSM-noise
If using GSM-Line, try to change the antenna position when a call is connected,
this makes it easier to identify best antenna position.
Try also to place the antenna away from the SafeLine™ unit
