Rationale—SAE J/ISO 7132 is more comprehensive than both SAE J1016 and SAE J734. The contents of
4.4 of SAE J/ISO 7132 cover SAE J1016 and contents of 4.4.3 of SAE J/ISO 7132 cover SAE J734. The
remaining pages of ISO 7132 add clarity and information that is covered by SAE J1057. However, SAE
J1057 can not be included in this proposal as it continues with more information about earthmoving
machines other than Dumpers.

Relationship of SAE Standard to ISO Standard—SAE J/ISO 7132-Second edition-1990 is Technically

Acceptable (Equivalent) to both SAE J1016 JUL90 (Component Nomenclature—Dumpers) and SAE
J734 JUL90 (Component Nomenclature—Dumper Trailer).

Application—This International Standard establishes terminology and the content of commercial literature
specifications for self-propelled dumpers, as defined in ISO 6165.

In the French text, “tombereau” is used for dumper, and is the object of an official regulation in France.
