Kent Carter
2015 Honda Fit 91
Hometown: Houston, TX
Birthplace: Oak Ridge TN

Sponsors: JohnPhillipsRacePrep, and wife Diane!

Dr. Carter received his Bachelor’s and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Auburn University with
residencies at U of West Virginia and Hermann Hospital in Houston specializing in Trauma and
Critical Care. After a stint as Senior Clinical Pharmacist for Critical Care Services at Methodist
Hospital in Houston, Dr. Carter entered the biotech R&D field with over 15 successful product
launches. His current research focus is a novel treatment of massive hemorrhage associated with
trauma and childbirth.

Kent was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and spent his formative years in Fort Walton Beach,
Florida. Diane, his partner for 30 years, is also a racer and a constant companion at the races.
In addition, she is the SCCA Southwest Division Chief of Timing and Scoring.

Like many, Carter started out in SCCA SOLO first with a 2002 Subaru WRX. At the same time,
Carter took up karting in the Rotax Max Series, but quickly switched to SpecMiata as the class
exploded onto the scene. When B-spec promised to follow in the footsteps of SpecMiata as the
low-cost, driver-focused, hypercompetitive class, he built a 2015 Honda Fit. This will be Carter’s
5th SCCA Runoffs appearance.

The 2015 Honda Fit was purchased off a
dealer’s lot with 12,000 miles on the
odometer. Kent and Diane designed and
fabricated the roll cage with some help by Eric
Yagel. John Phillips Race Prep completed the
mechanical build out.

• Kent is known for having the worst puns anywhere. Seriously.

James Rogerson
2017 Honda Fit 146
Hometown: Corpus Cristi TX
Birthplace: Corpus Cristi TX

Sponsor: MSR Houston and the MSR Houston Competition Driving School

Rogerson was born in Corpus Christi in 1946. Rogerson’s father was a machinist and head civilian
safety officer at the Naval Base. He is joining the Runoffs this year in order to race with his
grandson, Riley Sayler in the #22 Mazda 2.

Rogerson claims to have raced almost every class both open and closed wheel. In 1965 when he
was 19 years old, he attended a SCCA driver’s school. He was invited to never come back to the
(he still has the letter telling he wasn’t welcome in case anyone asks). Rogerson followed up this
inglorious debut with racing motorcycles off road for Suzuki Southwest for eight years. This is
Rogerson’s 7th Runoffs, having raced in HP, STU, CSR, T2 and FF at the runoffs.

Rogerson’s car is a fresh build by by MSR
Houston and Apex (cage). Its first time on
track will be at the Runoffs..

• Rogerson played basketball in Senior Olympics.
• Rogerson does not listen to music. “Don't ride cross country with me if you can't hold up
your end of a conversation.”
