An immense numbers of women have been exterminated for not presenting sufficient amount of dowry to the groom¶s family, luckily enough, if they are not killed then the bride¶s family and relatives have live a life in which they have to face shame, humiliation and embarrassment from the ridiculed of the groom¶s family. Therefore, either way it is like a commit suicide. Another reason dowry exists is because of educational in equalities. The holy book of Sikhism says that women ad men are equals. In addition, it added in the scripture that they should be treated with the same level of respect since men themselves came from a womb of a woman. So why not provide to them the same rights and opportunities of education that males have, Indian people believe that women¶s place is at home and all they have t o do in their life is sit home cook, do the laundry, and pamper the husband. The whole nexus of crime. be personal. not even her husband. It¶s a share of property no one could touch. while the masses still lag behind. Even if it means putting their every thing at stake. They represent an entire Diaspora of the Indian middle class caught in the mad rush. The dowry has become the gift. redefining their values. religions. And those who¶ve got it fast and furious also know how they¶ve made it. Easy money can never be made straight. now plagued with apprehensions and misconceptions? Today we only respect the rich and the famous. rather. Nor is it a guarantee for life time of happiness. So isn¶t education the best gift after all. People who practice dowry system should be socially boycotted. Thus. It has become very difficult to find a suitable match for a girl without paying handsome dowry. The movement should be taken to villages and every nook and corner of the country. women are harassed. Parents of well educated and highly placed boys demand huge dowry both in cash and kind. so as to be able to give money etc. Many young women commit suicide because their parents cannot afford to give dowry. prejudice against women. The rates are fixed according to the qualifications and career positions of the boys to be married. taking of bribes etc. The rate is still much higher. The percentage of literacy among girls and women is very low. More leaders. There is no limit to the greed of the in-laws of the bride. There should be free education for women up to the university level. This rate should be increased. Women organizations should hold demonstrations against such people.practiced in al sections and communities of the country in one from or another. It shows that laws alone are not enough. The evil has already taken a heavy toll of female life in the country. It is a crime to give and take dowry. Group and community marriages can also help in removing the evil. It underlines the fact women in India are not treated equally and fairly. Dowry system is against the law of equality of men and women. They speak and preach against dowry but in practice they make huge demands at the time of their son's marriage. There are thousands of cases of dowry every year few offenders are actually punished. If the boy is a doctor or engineer the demand may be anything between 5 to 10 lakhs. ill treated and even burned to death if they fail to bring in sufficient dowry. More schools. People are victims of double standards and double speak. In no other country an evil like dowry can be found. . They demand more and more dowry even after marriage. Dowry system is a matter of great shame and slur on the Indian society. brideburning. in the marriage of a daughter. It has soured the relations and there are tensions. With it are associated many other evils like greed. ill treatment of girl child. It reflects our prejudice against women. social groups. men and women should be involved in the movement against the evil. More and more women should be encouraged to take employment and become economically independent. a convenient means of exploitation. But these are openly violated. And yet there is not end to it. Marriage has become a kind of business and exploitation of the parents of a girl. Spread of literacy and education among women can prove a great weapon against dowry. Besides laws. We should create a movement and strong public opinion against the system.
Demand for dowry reduces a party to a status of a beggar. The young men should frankly reject the demand for dowry from their parents. They should stop thinking in terms of a weaker sex. They should fight against all kinds a discriminations and unjust maledomination.The women themselves should come forward forward and fight against the practice of dowry. privileges and strengths. But it is just a beginning. They should know their rights. The evil should be fought both on the levels of law and society. . A very strong propaganda and movement are needed to eradicate the evil for ever. They should revolt and expose dowry practitioners. They should stand on their own feet and fight for their rights.
