Prayer Vigil For Unborn Life

5.45pm-6.15pm Saturday evening, 1st Sunday of Advent, 27 th Nov 2010
There will be a half-hour of prayer immediately after the evening Mass. Our Bishop has encouraged us to respond to the Holy Father¶s ³unprecedented request´ for Catholics throughout the world to join him in observing a ³Vigil for All Nascent Human Life´. The purpose of this prayer vigil is ³is to µthank the Lord for his total self-giving to the world and for his Incarnation which gave every human life its real worth and dignity,¶ and to µinvoke the Lord¶s protection over every human being called into existence¶.´ Then, the 5 decades of the Rosary: Each group of ten beads is called a Decade. Each decade begins with an Our Father, has ten Hail Marys and ends with a Glory Be. The beads are used to count the prayers. While reciting each decade you should think about a particular µmystery¶ from the life of Jesus or Mary. There are four groups of mysteries: the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious. After each decade we¶ll sing the Lourdes refrain:

Opening Hymn while the Blessed Sacrament is incensed Soul of my Saviour sanctify my breast, Body of Christ, be thou my saving guest, Blood of my Saviour, bathe me in thy tide, wash me with waters gushing from thy side. Strength and protection may thy passion be, O blessèd Jesus, hear and answer me; deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me, so shall I never, never part from thee. Guard and defend me from the foe malign, in death's dread moments make me only thine; call me and bid me come to thee on high where I may praise thee with thy saints for ay.

Ave, ave, ave Maria. Ave, ave, ave Maria
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. O my Jesus forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those who most have need of Thy mercy. Amen. At the end of the five decades we pray: Hail Holy Queen, mother of mercy; hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thy eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O Clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary. V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray. O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech thee, that meditating on these Mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer (said by priest)

Rosary
The introductory prayers: While holding the crucifix we say: The Apostles Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. One the third day he rose again. he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
