Proposal for a Council Regulation (EC) amending Regulation (EEC) No 357/79 on statistical
surveys of areas under vines

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Council Regulation (EEC) No 571/88,Ø(Ï), as last
amended by Commission Decision 98/377/ECØ(Ð);

Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European
Community, and in particular Article 43 thereof,
Whereas as part of a flexible methodology, it would be
appropriate to give Member States the possibility of
using the vineyard register provided for by Council
Having regard to the proposal from the Commission, Regulation (EEC) No 2392/86Ø(Ñ), as last amended by
Regulation (EC) No 1596/96Ø(Ò), as a source of
information on the basic survey, given that developments
