” Walk into the classroom quietly. The line leader will turn on the lights. Hang up jackets and backpacks on the yellow hooks. Gather any work materials or homework and take them to your desk. Wait to recieve your sharpened pencils. Begin working quietly on your own and wait for the next task to be given to you. Homework… 1. All homework assignments will be written on the board. 2. Put completed homework assignments on your desk after you have received your sharpened pencils. 3. The homework collectors will stamp your completed homework. 4. Incomplete homework will not be stamped. An Incomplete Form will be completed for all unfinished homework assignments. 5. Once homework is graded, it will be placed in the Completed Homework bin. If you have a question… 1. Ask three of your classmates the question quietly before you ask me. 2. Whisper and say, “Excuse me, _______, may I ask you a question?” 3. If no one knows the answer to your question, raise your hand and wait at your seat until I can answer your question. 4. You may only ask a question while I am not teaching or when I am not talking to another student. 5. You may only ask classmates questions during group work time. 6. When you are called to line up, gently stand up and push your chair under your desk. Walk to the cafeteria quietly and respectfully so not to disturb the other classes. Wait in line quietly and respectfully once you come to the cafeteria. WASH YOUR HANDS!! Do this before you walk into the lunchroom.’ Say, “Thank you” to the cafeteria aides when you get your food. Treat all of your teammates equally and be kind. Listen to and be respectful of your teammates ideas and opinions. You may only use encouraging words when working in your teams. Bullying and put-downs will not be tolerated. Negative behavior will result in a consequence. Pencil Sharpening…
1. The pencil sharpener will sharpen you pencils the afternoon before the next day’s class. 2. Place your dull pencils in the Dull Pencils can near the pencil sharpener. 3. Pick up your sharpened pencil in the morning after put your backpacks and jackets away. 4. If pencils need to be sharpened during the day, use a hand sharpener.
Class Library Procedures… 1. When you look at books please return them to the place they belong when you are done. 2. If you see other books that are not in their correct place, please take the time to put them in the correct place. 3. When you check out a book write the name of the book on your library card.
4. When you return it you may cross out that book on your card. 5. If you do not return a book or bring it back ruined you will be responsible for paying for it. If you cannot pay for it, you may work off the price of the book by helping Mr. Ferrell after school, until I feel the book has been paid off. Please treat the books nicely. 6. Please keep the classroom library organized and looking nice. 7. Treat all books with care. These are Mr. Ferrell’s personal books and it is a privilege to be able to check them out. Please be responsible and kind to all of the books. Garfield Library Procedures… 1. Walk in the library quietly and sit down. Greet Ms. Nichols with “Good Morning (or Good Afternoon) Ms. Nichols.” 2. Wait quietly and patiently for Ms. Nichols to give you instructions on what to do. The quieter you are and the sooner Ms. Nichols can begin. 3. Use your quiet library voice at all times. Never shout across the library or raise your voice to get someone else’s attention. 4. Walk over to the person and tell them what you need to say. 5. Treat all books with care, put them back where they belong, and be responsible.
Rewards for Good Behavior 1. If the class goes smoothly the entire day the class will receive 1 pebble in the Pebble Party Jar. 2. For all compliments given the class will receive 3 pebbles in the pebble party jar. 3. You may receive a homework pass. 4. You may phone Call or Note home to notify your parents or guardians what a great job you are doing.
If you choose not to follow procedures/rules: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. You will receive a warning. You will have a talk with Mr. Ferrell. You will need to fill out a think sheet. You may have to write a letter of apology to the person your behavior was directed towards. This includes disrupting the entire class. You will then need to write an apology letter to the class and read it to us by the next day. Your guardians will receive a phone call home. You will call them and tell them what you did, why you did it, and the consequence you have been given. If given ASD you will inform your parents that you need to stay after school. If behaviors are continually happening we will have a meeting with Dr. Covarrubias and possibly your parents to resolve the problem.
Most Importantly… As a class, you are all part of a team. You all should work together to make sure everyone is following the class rules. This means that you all should encourage each other to follow the rules
