1. As Instructional leader/educator, discuss curriculum from the different points of view. Traditional Points of view of
curriculum and Progressive Points of view of curriculum.
Curriculum come up with different version and can be define in a different way. Curriculum refers to the
lessons and academic content taught in a school. We have traditional curriculum and progressive curriculum. The
differences between the two is that in traditional curriculum, the teachers still focuses on traditional way of teaching.
The strategies they used are old and common like the lecture method and memorization. Teachers are also the
sources of information and authority. While in progressive curriculum, learning is a progression. It develops the
teachers to have new teaching strategies that can be very useful in shaping learners holistically. Teachers also act
as facilitators and learners as active participants in the teaching learning process.

2. Discuss the 7 types of curriculum and choose at least 3 that you are using/ adapting in own school.
There are seven (7) types of curriculum that can be applied in the school such as the recommended, written,
taught, supported, assessed, learned and lastly the hidden curriculum.
When we say recommended curriculum it is the curriculum which is mandated or given by the department
of education which are the policies and memorandum order. Written curriculum on the other hand, it is a document
based on the recommended curriculum or the instructional guides. While taught curriculum, it is the different planned
activities or varied activities given by the teacher. However, supported curriculum refers to instruction al materials
or anything that will support the teacher’s way of teaching. Assessed curriculum it is also known as tested or
evaluated curriculum which is done by the teacher. Learned curriculum also, refers to the learning outcomes
achieved by the students. Lastly, the hidden curriculum also known as the unintended curriculum. Since we are
now focusing on the outcome of the students, we use the recommended, written, learned curriculum but most of
the curriculum are essentials.

3. Can a school exist without a curriculum? why? or Why not?

No, for me a school cannot exist without a curriculum. Accordingly, a school is an institution of guidelines
for educating the children using the so called “Curriculum”. As we all know that curriculum is a guided learning for
the students/learner that is being prepared by the teachers/ mentor. Without a curriculum, there will be no learning
and a school is worthless. Curriculum is like a skeletal system, it serves as the structural foundation of our body
that is why it is foundation of learning. And I believed that a Curriculum can exist without a school but School cannot
exist without a curriculum.

4. How does a strong belief or Philosophy influence curriculum?

Accordingly, philosophy of education plays a vital role in the field of teaching especially in determining the
student’s capacity to learn or the strength and weaknesses of the learner. We know that learners are diverse
according to Howard Gradner based on his theory of multiple intelligences. Philosophy in education influences
curriculum by following the rules in school, building a good education and also disciplining the students. We need
to have a strong belief or the philosophy for us to realize the true Mission and Vision of education.

5. As educator, how important will a curriculum be to you?

As an educator, curriculum is very essential because it serves as a guide for the teaching-learning process.
It is a totality of the offered course or the guided learning experiences designed to facilitate learning. Without this
curriculum, it is hard for us teacher to teach because for me curriculum is the heart of teaching. Through curriculum,
I can directly determine when to give a certain assessment to the lesson, when to conduct evaluation and in
promoting the activity based education or the outcome-based education towards my learners.

6. What are the implications of an ever changing curriculum to the teachers?

For me, the implications of an ever changing curriculum to the teachers is that these will serves as an
opportunity for developing strategies and methods of teaching. This will help us to gain more knowledge that we
can apply to the different learners or what we called diverse learner. It means that as a teacher we need to be
updated on the changing or the shifting of curriculum for us to know on how to accommodate the learners’ changing
needs and abilities, because we teachers considered as the agent of change in the society.

7. Define the term "curriculum" as you understand it. Make a concept?

Curriculum can be considered also as a floor plan or a blueprint just like the (TOS) for what to be taught/
learned/experienced in the educational institution. Meaning to say, curriculum is what the school attempting to teach
such as the social behavior of the students or everything that the learner can acquire specific knowledge and skills.
