I. Objectives
At the end of 60 minutes, the students will be able to:
A. define what is public speaking;
B. differentiate the four modes of speech; and
C. strategize to eliminate stage fright associated with public speaking.

D. Value Focus: Students will value the importance on how to deliver a good speech especially in
public and overcoming stage fright

III. Procedure
A. Preparation
1. Opening Prayer, Greetings, Checking of Attendance
2. Motivation
a. Group the class into two. Each group will present a tongue twister displayed
on the screen.
"How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck
Wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much
Wood. As a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood"
b. Give each group 3 minutes to practice
c. Let each group present as articulated as they can and the group with least
errors will win the activity.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
a. Merry QUESTmas
i. Each student will pick one image inside the box and explain it to the class
ii. After everyone has explained, they will flip the image which corresponds a
letter at the back and puzzle the phrase “STAGE FRIGHT”
b. Show an animated video about a person who experience stage fright
2. Analysis
c. In your own understanding, what is Public Speaking?
d. What are the four modes of speech and how do they differ from each other?
3. Abstraction
a. Why is public speaking important?
b. Which mode do you prefer to use and why?
c. How can you develop yourself in speaking to the public?
d. Is good delivery of speech important? Why or why not?
4. Application
a. Continuous Story
i. Each person gets up and might speak for 4 sentences and start telling a story.
ii. The next students will follow the same thing and connect it from each
other’s story
IV. Evaluation
Directions: Get ¼ sheet of paper. Write the correct answer to the following questions.
1. It is a mode where a speaker commits everything to its memory ( Memorized )
2. It is the process of speaking in a structured, deliberate manner to inform, influence or
entertain an audience. ( Public Speaking)
3. It is a mode where it means speaking at a spur time ( Impromptu )
4. It is a mode where the speaker may have an outline to guide him/her to his/her speech
(Extempo )
5. It is appropriately used when the speech is long and when details are complicated and
essential such as that they need to be given completely (reading from manuscript)
6-10. (Essay) How can Public Speaking help you as a student/person?
V. Assignment
Research about other modes of speech and give at least 3 examples.
