‘Shorr’ Premieres To A Standing Ovation At MIAAC Festival In New York
A Balaji Motion Pictures-Alt Entertainment production, the film is the festival’s opening night feature. Balaji Motion Pictures and Alt Entertainment’s ‘Shorr’ had its US premiere to a standing ovation at the Tenth Annual Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council (MIAAC) Film Festival in New York. The opening night screening kicked off with a red carpet followed by pre-screening cocktails, and leading up to the screening at the SVA Silas Theatre in midtown Manhattan. It concluded with a round of question and answers with the actors and filmmakers. Earlier in the day, the producers organized an extensive oneon-one media interaction with filmmaker Ekta Kapoor, and actors Sendhil Ramamurthy and Tusshar Kapoor, who are part of the wide ensemble cast of ‘Shorr.’ Later, key South Asian media informally interacted with the cast and crew over lunch.. The premiere was attended by Ekta Kapoor, Balaji Motion Pictures CEO Tanuj Garg, director-duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK (Flavours, 99), actors Tusshar Kapoor, and Sendhil Ramamurthy (of the hit TV series Heroes and Covert Affairs fame). Also in attendance were Mira Nair, Nandana Sen, Padma Lakshmi, of explosives. And a young cricketer must find the money to pay up to get into a cricket team. ‘Shorr’ is a production of Alt Entertainment, a sister brand

Sarita Choudhury, Deepti Naval, Tannishtha Chatterjee, and Rahul Bose, among others. The feature film version of the winner of MIAAC 2008’s Best Short Film Award, ‘Shorr’ is a gritty, funny composite portrait of Mumbai. Inspired from various daily newspaper stories, ‘Shorr’ revolves around three interconnected stories set during the popular and chaotic Ganpati festival in Mumbai: An expatriate returns home to an unwelcoming city. A bootlegger of bestsellers and his buddies find a bag

of Balaji Motion Pictures, which released the runaway hit, Love, Sex aur Dhokha, earlier this year. A special festival cut of ‘Shorr’ was shown at MIAAC, as the final theatrical cut will be ready before its anticipated release in March-April 2011. Recently, ‘Shorr’ garnered rave reviews at the prestigious Pusan Film Festival in South Korea, where it was officially invited in the festival’s Asian showcase. -Showbiz PR Wire

Agent Vinod - The First Bollywood Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Film To Be Shot In Latvia , Eastern Celebrates 100 Days Europe
The team of Agent Vinod is busy preparing for the Mumbai schedule after completing a grueling 2 month shoot in Latvia. Ironically the spy thriller Agent Vinod is the first Indian film to be shot in the beautiful country situated in Eastern Europe. Says director Sriram Raghavan, “ The landscape in Latvia is exceptionally breath taking. We shot in many different locations across the different cities. We got access to some heritage structures, like old ruins, churches and museums. We tried to cover as much variety as the landscape offers” In spite of capturing some breath taking shots the shoot at Latvia didn’t come easy to the cast and crew of Agent Vinod who met with various obstacles en route -one being the language barrier which turned out to be quite a challenge. “It was very difficult to Agent Vinod -the coming of age action film starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor After earning significant critical acclaim and commercial success, Balaji Motion Pictures’ worldwide blockbuster Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, directed by Milan Luthria, is ready to complete its 100 day run. Producer Ekta Kapoor remarked, “We are thankful for the support received from the audience and trade alike. The response to the film has been overwhelming and along with Love Sex Aur Dhokha earlier this year we’ve clearly shown our versatility and mettle as creative producers. I’m sure a sequel to OUATIM isn’t far!” Said Luthria, “Working on Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai has been a wonderful experience. It was a great collaboration of my creative experience, and strong production and marketing expertise provided by Balaji Motion Pictures, which helped transform my vision into the magical story we saw on screen. I look forward to building upon this relationship through future projects with the company.” Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, which took the audience back to a retro era of gangsters and cabaret, hit the theatres on 30th July, and emerged as one of the biggest box office and musical hits of 2010. Anjana Sukhani has revealed that she prefers being glamorous on screen. The Golmaal Returns actress will next be seen in Allah Ke Banday, a tale of two juvenile delinquents who become slum overlords. In an interview with The Times of India, Sukhani said: “It’s a world of fantasy and people like to see hot actresses with plenty of oomph quotient. “I don’t know how much deglam roles help you, but right now, I want to do more glamorous roles.” However, she admitted that her part in the film sees her playing a “mature and modern” woman, who has a “dark side”. Winter care for hair
changing the structure to dry and brittle. If you step out leaving your hair wet, hair tends to become frozen, and breakages lead to split ends. If the ends get too dry, then it’s better to have them trimmed to make them look healthy. Conditioners that come in jars rather than tubes or bottles are more useful, again avoid the scalp. You can use a leave in conditioner every day. Use mild shampoos only and remember alcohol based shampoos tend to be more drying. Diluting the shampoo is also a good idea, but if diluted too much then you tend to over shampoo’ so be consistent. Avoid using too hot water when you shampoo, give a cold water rinse at the end for the shine. Avoid washing your hair too often, for those who have to, dry shampoos are good alternatives in winter. Heating tools, curling or flat irons, hot curlers or dryers, for hair are all damaging in this cold season. Scarves or hats are fashionable and provide good protection for the hair, for those with long hair try to have them tied or in a knot for most times to protect the tips., but if tied to tight you can restrict circulation and or sweat in the scalp, for which you will need to shampoo and clear the pores, there goes the cycle again. Moisture in scalp has to be maintained, so if you have tied up your hair, let it loose sometime during the day to let it dry up. Hair sprays, mousse and gels should be shelved for now.

It is cold and windy, hair becomes dry and dull. Hair gets the most damaged besides the skin in these harsh weathers, as we are properly layered for the rest. You will be pleasantly surprised to see the difference small changes can make to your hair texture. As I have previously mentioned, major part of the hair structure constitutes of water, either the dry heat indoors or the dry cold outside, moisture can be robbed in these dry conditions,

This is something you will definitely in-house, embedded reporter who has direct access to the feed from the cameras in the Bigg Boss house, even sockets. Pakistani wannabe starlet Veena Malik in a compromising position with a male inmate of the Bigg Boss house!!! We would like to give you the name of the male inmate caught with his pants down in Veena Malik’s arms, but since he happens to be our editor’s friend, his name has been withheld. Unmindful of the cameras, or presuming there were no cameras facing them the couple got real close and personal. They began doing things we cannot publish. Then suddenly the male partner noticed a camera pointed at them and broke away. The 2 minutes of footage was really explosive. The couple were smooching and fondling each other unmindful of the world around them. There were more things that happened, that like we said we cannot print. We leave t h e r e s t t o your imagination. Or watch it on Colors, 9 p m w i t h o u t f a i l . We doubt they will show you this explosive footage though. Futuristic Media Network

Credit it to his growing up years but Faruk doesn’t come with an essence of attachment to anything in particular.

Imagine how immersing yourself for days in the depths of that awe inspiring natural wonder could work its way into your psyche. “It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves – in finding themselves.” ~Andre Gide There are many ways to experience adventure in life – travel to a faraway land, challenging yourself to learn a new skill or stretch out of your comfort zone, seeing sights that unexpectedly take your breath away, or embarking on a journey when you’re not sure what to expect. Adventure can truly be life changing; not just changing our perspective, but truly changing who we are. A Colorado River rafting trip with Arizona River Runners seems to work its magic on people from all walks of life. The Grand Canyon has an effect on visitors from all over the world, even if they only walk from their car to the rim to snap some photos. Imagine how immersing yourself for days in the depths of that awe inspiring natural wonder could work its way into your psyche. The simple decision to take a vacation could truly change your life. Bollywood appears to be inclined towards exploring rare illnesses/disorders/disabilities, with directors casting megastars in characters to raise awareness about the lesserknown ailments. In GHAJINI, Aamir Khan had short-term memory loss [Anterograde Amnesia]. In PAA, Amitabh Bachchan played a child afflicted with Progeria. In MY NAME IS KHAN, SRK was shown suffering from Asperger Syndrome. In TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, Aamir Khan portrayed problems of Dyslexic children. In BLACK, Amitabh Bachchan was shown succumbing to Alzheimer’s. In KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK, Farhan Akhtar portrayed a Schizophrenic. Bhansali has always been known for two things. The first thing is, of course, the visual splendour in his films [which was quite evident in HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, DEVDAS and SAAWARIYA] and the second thing that he takes inspiration from various stories. The critically acclaimed BLACK was inspired from THE MIRACLE Final word? GUZAARISH is special in more ways than one. In my individualistic opinion, it easily ranks amongst Bhansali’s best works so far. Just don’t miss this one! Set in Goa, it tells the story of an accomplished magician Ethan Mascarenhas [Hrithik Roshan]. Confined to a wheel chair, Ethan becomes a Radio Jockey at an FM Station called Radio Zindagi. His show talks of hope, laughter and sunshine and it’s difficult to

persuaded by his physician Dr. Nayak [Suhel Seth] to retract his case. Alongside all this, Omar [Aditya Roy Kapur] enters Ethan’s life with the aim of learning magic from him. Impressed by Omar’s love for magic, Ethan agrees to pass on his legacy to him. GUZAARISH has a number hinterland specially. Agreed, the film is set in Goa, they are bound to speak that language, but despite everything, Hindi is a must for a pan-India appeal. Irrespective of how his films fare at the box-office, Bhansali’s films have always been embellished with rich and cherished music. The songs continue to linger in the hearts of the listeners with their dulcet and soothing tunes. After legendary Satyajit Ray and Vishal Bhardwaj, Bhansali is the next accomplished filmmaker who has himself created the music of his film. The songs in GUZAARISH are more inclined towards poetry that’s earthy and contemporary. However, it does take some time for the listeners to sense the pulse of the music. ‘Tera Zikr Hai Ya Itra Hai’ is a limerick to exquisiteness, Hrithik and Aishwarya are seen in a lackluster facade and that’s what makes the characters so plausible. While Hrithik is seen sporting a beard and has even put on weight, Aishwarya is seen in sober outfits. In fact, the two actors have gone through a drastic appearance change and both pressurize you to believe that they are indeed Ethan and Sofia. It must be said that Hrithik and Aishwarya exude

Sofia [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan], a nurse, takes good care of him; they share a silent love. Ethan files a petition in court for mercy killing. This decision of Ethan leaves Sofia stunned. Sample these… • The courtroom sequence and Aishwarya’s outburst towards the end of it. • The hearing of the petition at Hrithik’s house. • Hrithik’s act going wrong and the near-fatal accident. • The finale. SURIYA READY TO TAKE ON VIVEK OBEROI
It is Suriya’s time to rule the roost after Vivek Oberoi. After the great success of Raktha Charithra, starring Vivek Oberoi, time is ripe for Ratha Charithram to be released in Tamil. The first installment which was released in Telugu and Hindi was critically acclaimed as well. Ratha Charithram is produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri under the banner Cloud Nine movies. Suriya, who was seen partially in Raktha Charithra, dons the role of Suri and Ratha Charitram is about whether Suri gets the better of Ravi by taking revenge.

In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen. A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his Customer, “This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you.” The barber puts a five rupee coin in one hand and two one rupee coins(1+1=2) in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, “Which do you want, son?” The boy takes the two one rupee coins and leaves. “What did I tell you?” said the barber. “That kid never learns!” Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store. “Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take two one rupee coins instead of five rupee coin?” The boy licked his cone and replied, “Because THE DAY I TAKE THE FIVE RUPEE COIN, THE GAME WILL BE OVER A team of engineers were required to measure the height of a flag pole. They only had a measuring tape, and were getting quite frustrated trying to keep the tape along the pole. It kept falling down, etc. A mathematician comes along,

finds out their problem, and proceeds to remove the pole from the ground and measure it easily. When he leaves, one engineer says to the other: “Just like a mathematician! We need to know the height, and he gives us the length!” A mathematician and his best friend, an engineer, attend a public lecture on geometry in thirteen-dimensional space. “How did you like it?” the mathematician wants to know after the talk. “My head’s spinning,” the engineer confesses. “How can you develop any intuition for thirteen-dimensional space?” “Well, it’s not even difficult. All I do is visualize the situation in n-dimensional space and then set n = 13.” A small boy is sent to bed by his father. Five minutes later: ‘Da-ad…’ ‘What?’ ‘I’m thirsty. Can you bring me a drink of water?’ ‘No. You had your chance. Lights out.’ Five minutes later: ‘Daaaaad…’ ‘WHAT?’ ‘I’m THIRSTY…Can I have a drink of water??’ ‘I told you NO! If you ask again I’ll have to spank you!!’Five minutes later… ‘Daaaaaaaad…’ ‘WHAT??!!’ ‘When you come in to spank me, can you bring me a drink of water? Teacher in class: Can anyone tell me what do you get if you subtract four apples from seven apples? John: Where are

the apples? The teacher said to Danny: “Why are you in the floor?” Danny said: “Because you said to do this Math problem without Tables.” An astronomer, a physicist and a mathematician are on a train in Scotland. The astronomer looks out of the window, sees a black sheep standing in a field, and remarks, “How odd. Scottish sheep are black.” “No, no, no!” says the physicist. “Only some Scottish sheep are black.” The mathematician rolls his eyes at his companions’ muddled thinking and says, “In Scotland, there is at least one field, containing at least one sheep, at least one side of which appears black from here.” One day the kids in Ms. Evans science class was disagreeing with her. Ms. Evans was talking about evolution. Ms. Evans was and atheist so she didn’t believe in God . Then Johnny raised his hand and said, “But I thought God created mankind?” Ms. Evans then replied, “Well can you see God?” “No.” “Hear God?” “No.” “Feel God?” “No.” This went on for quite a while. “Well then God doesn’t exist.” Then Johnny whispered back to his friend Jimmy, “Can you see Ms. Evan’s brain. No, so that must not exist.”
