Station Garden to honour Strathmore’s past.
Communities in Bloom and the Western District
Historical Society partnered to make a request to
Strathmore town council to formally designate the
area in Lambert Park as Station Garden at Lambert
Park.
At the Dec. 11 Committee of the Whole meet-
ing, council made it official. The area of Lambert
Park to be designated as Station Garden is north
and west of Lakeside Views (the road east of the
Drum time library) and the area north of the library.
Rhonda Stockwell of the historical society and
Rob Pirie, chair of Strathmore Communities in
Bloom and a member of the historical society, felt
Offering IV Sedation it was important to make the designation official
even though the area was created over a year ago.

acknowledge the historical significance.”
The Canadian Pacific Railway Station was built in
1883 and was essential to the growth of Strathmore.
Lambert Park is named after the town’s first mayor,
Edmund W.R. Lambert.
Lambert Park has begun to see some revitaliza-
tion over the past couple of years with the addition
of flower gardens and benches along the paths.
Pirie also noted that many of the perennials from
the Kinsmen parking lot, now under construction,
will be moving over to Lambert Park.

Obituary
BAZANT, Anita (Lafontaine)
Anita passed away peacefully at the Strathmore Hospital Friday,
December 27th, 2019 at the age of 88 years. She was born March
24th, 1931 to George and Lillian (Duffy) Lafontaine, the eldest of
five children. After college Anita worked as a librarian at NRC (Na-
tional Research Center) at the Library of Parliament on Parliament Hill in Ottawa
until she met the love of her life Ted Bazant and the love story began. They were
married, after a romantic long distance courtship on July 31, 1954. They had three
daughters, Maureen, Kathleen and Irene. Ted and Anita raised their children on the
family farm northwest of Strathmore, they remained there until shortly before Ted’s
passing. Anita loved the finer things in life such as her china and crystal collection,
jewelery, and enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading. Her greatest joys in life were
her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as the best gentle, gra-
cious, loving wife, Mother and Nanny anyone could ask for.
Anita is predeceased by her husband Ted Bazant, daughter Irene Healy, sister Adele
Kline, and sister Lillian Berlinguette. She is survived by her daughter Maureen
