Student Teaching & Practicum Experience

Student Teaching, Augusta County & Rockingham County
Fall 2019 - present, 1st grade and 3rd grade
Within my student teaching placements, I am co-teaching my CT to provide support within
the classroom and slowly take over planning lessons, classroom management, and overall
teaching responsibilities. My time spent in 1st and 3rd showed me the different approaches to
classroom management, teaching styles, and differentiation for all grades, levels, and types
of learners. As a teacher, I am always learning and my students from these experiences have
taught me so much more than I ever thought. Building relationships with your students and a
comfortable and sustainable classroom community/environment is the core to being a
successful teacher to each individual student.
Practicum, Plains Elementary School, The Young Children’s Program
Fall 2017 & 2018, 5th Grade & Pre- K Classroom Practicum Teacher
During my practicum experience I created interactive, differentiated lesson plans, and
integrated these plans into my classes. I worked with my teacher to learn more about the
inner workings of a classroom, and developed critical skills necessary to become a successful
teacher.

Work Experience
Kids Harbor
After School Assistant Teacher – January 2019 – present
As the assistant teacher in the Elementary After School Program I work with children in
Kindergarten through 5th grade. My primary responsibility is helping maintain a safe,
welcoming environment for my students, while encouraging an adventurous and creative
atmosphere for my children. I assist the core teacher by working in all the rooms, preparing
for the day, making mini craft lessons, assisting with homework, as well as keeping the support
staff on track. I enjoy building connections with the children to ensure they are successful in
the environment I help create.
The Arena Club
Camp Counselor – Summer 2017 and Summer 2018
As a counselor I worked directly with children varying in age from Kindergarten to middle
school. Creating fun activities for them to take part in and encouraging them to get involved.
Overall, I supervised children all day while creating a friendly, comforting, and fun
environment for them to enjoy the summer.
