HAZARD IDENTIFICATION and RISK ASSESSMENT
1.0 PURPOSE: To describe the measures to be implemented within AJCI for the identification of hazards, and for the assessment and control of health and safety risks. The objective is to systematically examine workplace hazards, assess those associated risks and use the results to prioritize safety management efforts and resources.

2.0 SCOPE: This procedure is applicable to the AJCI, including: 0 • routine and non-routine activities;
• activities of all personnel having access to the workplace (including subcontractors and visitors);
• facilities at the workplace, whether provided by AJCI or others.
1 3.0 DEFINITIONS, TERMINOLOGIES AND ABBREVIATIONS: Hazard: a source of potential harm or a situation with a potential to cause loss Cause: that which produces an effect; that which gives rise to any action, phenomenon or condition Effect: Something accomplished, caused or produced; a result, consequence. Hazard identification: Development of a comprehensive list of hazards associated with any particular operation, equipment, structure, or work practice. Risk: the chance of something happening that should have an impact. It is measured in terms of consequences and likelihood. Consequence: the outcomes of an event expressed qualitatively or quantitatively, being a loss, injury, disadvantage or gain. There may be a range of possible outcomes associated with an event. Likelihood: used as a qualitative description of probability or frequency. Incident: Event that gives rise to an accident or has the potential to lead to an accident (Note: An incident where no ill health, injury, damage, or other loss occurs is also referred to as a "near-miss". The term "incident" includes "nearmisses"). Accident: Undesired event giving rise to death, ill health, injury, damage or other loss. Event: is an incident or situation, which occurs in a particular place during a particular interval of time. Risk Analysis: a systematic use of available information to determine how often specified events may occur and the magnitude of their consequences.
