Assume that you are assigned the task of managing the work of a group of
housekeepers at a hotel most of whom have no prior work experience what
combinations of task and relationship behavior and attitudes would it be important for
you to emphasis explain«.

 


As a manager I would be very careful in managing the housekeeper¶s staff of the hotel
because the duties of hotel housekeepers are probably the most important duties that
take place in a hotel on a daily basis. If the housekeeper has not done her or his job to
expectations, the hotel could lose business. Hotel guests expect their rooms to be
cleaned with the accuracy and full attention. The cleanliness of a hotel is the key selling
factor.

Followings are some important things done by me:


m I will communicate efficiently with all the housekeepers
m I will guide them how to act upon their job descriptions
m Make groups of housekeepers like I will divide the group and would mix up the
experienced and non experienced housekeepers in this way they could easily
learn by watching their colleagues.
m I will try to manage the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department.
m I will properly plan, schedule, and organize work to ensure proper coverage.
m I will enforce policies and procedures on daily basis
m Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to
effectively carry out their respective job duties.
m I will try to develop and implement procedures for managing quality of
housekeeping and laundry services.
m Conduct pre-shift meeting with housekeepers and review all information pertinent
to the day's activities.
m Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and
coordination with other departments.
m Assist with deep cleaning projects and assist housekeeping staff during
unanticipated rush periods.
m I will ensure employee participation, strong delegation, proper trainings and
rewards in influencing productivity in housekeeping.

‰hy Is Direction Setting Still An Important Leadership Activity In An Era Of


Empowerment?

 


‰ell, I think that just setting goals is not enough but in fact organizations should achieve
its goals and targets effectively by utilizing the resources properly. Different
organizations have different styles now a good leader will always apply that styles which
will increase productivity of people and organization. Setting a direction is an approach
used to bring together employees for a unified concerted effort towards a single goal.

The direction setting is a very vital and somewhat crucial in a leadership behavior
because leaders, as a captain of the ship he should know the course of the journey the
ship is going to set. In the era of empowerment the role of leaders is essential .They are
the ones likely to set the course towards the empowerment wherein followers is bound
to follow. Leaders as being a visionary should be able to see what is ahead for the
people or followers to go into the bright side of empowerment. Empowerment in a broad
sense needs more a leader who can just lead them but it is also in a leader¶s essence to
stir values and attitude that is needed for empowerment to occur effectively. Plainly
speaking, the success of empowerment is somewhat dependent of the direction setting
that is set by the leader such that followers are dependent on the leaders as to what
directions they will travel along. Through leaders, they serve as the primary force in the
success of change in the organization so they are likely to bring success in the era of
empowerment as well through the direction setting they set.

In the modern age good leaders are an enabling force, helping people and
organizations to perform and develop, which implies that a sophisticated alignment be
achieved of people's needs, and the aims of the organization.
