Reverchon Park Couple Sues to Stop Ballpark Bulldozing

On January 8, the Dallas City Council voted to allow developers to bulldoze,
privatize and commercialize the Reverchon Park Ballfield, the most historic, public
baseball field in Dallas where Ty Cobb and Willie Mays once played. The
problem… the City broke Texas Parks law in the process. A total lack of
transparency and due process has resulted in a plan to replace Dallas’ own Field
of Dreams with a private, 3,500-seat, minor league baseball, live concert and
entertainment stadium that will destroy the ambiance and serenity of the entire
neighborhood for up to 40-years. The project MUST be stopped and properly
reviewed, and the venerable, historic ballfield and surrounding parkland and trees
must be saved. Now, “Neighbors United to Save Reverchon” are fighting back.
Two of the group’s residents, Charlotte and Robert Barner, are suing to force the
City to follow state law and respect the rights of area residents and the patrons of
beloved Reverchon Park.

FRIDAY Feb. 7, 11:00 AM
