Postrequisite
Check the following items after replacing the faulty fan subrack of the RRU3701C: l l l The two bolts of the fan subrack are tightened. The fans are working properly. The door of the case is locked.

Contact the local Huawei office to handle the faulty fan subrack of the RRU3701C.

6.4 Replacing the Optical Modules
The optical module provides an interface for photoelectric conversion, which enables the transmission between the BBU and other equipment through the optical fiber. Replacing the optical modules requires removing the optical fibers. This disrupts the CPRI transmission signal. The procedures of replacing optical modules in different BS equipment are the same. The following section describes how to replace an optical module in the BBU.

The optical modules are hot-swappable. You need to disconnect the optical fibers when replacing the faulty optical module. Therefore, services carried on the optical fibers are disrupted during the replacement.

CAUTION
The RRU may restart when you replace the optical module. Do not activate or deactivate the RRU if no antenna or matched load is connected to the RRU.

Procedure
Step 1 Wear the ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves.

CAUTION
When performing the replacement, take proper ESD prevention measures, for example, wear ESD wrist straps or gloves to prevent boards, modules, and electronic components from being destroyed by static discharge from the human body.

DBS3900 WiMAX Site Maintenance Guide

9.1 Replacing the SLPU Case
The Signal Lightning Protection Unit (SLPU) provides surge protection for a BS.

Prerequisite
l l l The model of the faulty SLPU case is confirmed and the new SLPU case is ready. Ensure that the new SLPU case is intact and has the same version as the faulty one. The required tools and materials are ready. The tools and materials are the ESD wrist strap or gloves, Phillips screwdriver, ESD box or bag, and key to the cabinet door.

Context

CAUTION
Do not replace and install the SLPU case during a thunderstorm.

Procedure
Step 1 Inform the administrator of the M2000 that the SLPU case needs to be replaced. If necessary, ask the administrator to back up or transfer the services carried by the boards in the SLPU case. Step 2 Wear the ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves.

WARNING
When performing the replacement, take proper ESD prevention measures, for example, wear ESD wrist straps or gloves to prevent boards, modules, and electronic components from being destroyed by static discharge from the human body. Step 3 Record the connection positions of all the cables connected to the boards. Step 4 Remove the transmission cables connected to the boards in the SLPU case. Step 5 Loosen the four M6 screws on the panel of the SLPU case and then remove the SLPU case, as shown in Figure 9-1. Figure 9-1 Removing the SLPU
