Our study, based on specialised documentation of field research, of

comparative analysis highlights opportunities within Suceava area and its
surroundings regarding the touristic and scientific potential in the
dendrological park Sipote and six natural reservations of flora and forests.
Concerns for the safety of the biogeographical elements in the area
arose since the beginning of the XXth century, through the establishment of
the first flora reservations at Ponoare and Frumoasa-Moara and declaring
some elements to be very important from a scientific point of view or very
rare as natural monuments protected by law. As a result we can distinguish
species of plants, glacial relics, trees and forested areas which are very
valuable and attractive biologically, ecologically, educationally and
touristically. Thus, within the analysed area – which refers to the flora
rezervations in Ponoare, Frumoasa, Calafindesti and the forested ones from
Dragomirna, Crujana and Zamostea – there are species of plats such as:
bulbucul (Trollius europaeus), the forest lily (Lilium martagon), the Siberian
iris(Iris sibirica),the ashtree (Dictamus albus), the pasque flower (Pulsatilla
nigricans), lily-of-the-valley (Convallaria majalis), partlycoloured tulip
(Fritilaria meleagris) ladyshoe (Cypripedium calceolus), ruşcuţa de
primăvară (Adonis vernalis),rabbits’s cabbage (Ligularia glauca). The
forested rezervations prevail by very old trees with outstanding diameters
and heights: beech (Fagus silvatica), at Dragomirna and oaks (Quercus
petraea, Quercus robur) at Crujana-Pătrăuți.

The endemic elements are very important from a scientific point of view for
the researchers because they make it posible to reconstitute the evolution of
flora and fauna. Together with the sheltered climate and the clean air, flora
offers many opportunities to the polyvalent tourism through the charm and
the vivid colours during flowering, providing a place of quietness and inner
balance.

The ecosystems within Suceava area have a valuable and attractive

potential which offers the opportunity to know, investigate and inform
specialists from different areas as well as relaxing, eco-tourism, cynegetic
tourism, agrotourism and rural tourism for other categories of visitors.
