INTRODUCTION:

In this modern era, Technology was been the most advanced and successful
invention that the world has. Through technology, we can live our lives easily and it
lessen our efforts that we should exert on something. Through these devices, we can
easily find the information we needed, the happening surround us, and everything and
anything in just a click, it grants what people want.

Through technology, life becomes better and easy going on. There is technology
that help us on everyday life, like smartphones, computers, laptops, and more. Maybe
those technology might have a good advantage in our daily living but somehow these
has also bad effects on us. Cellphone is the most known device, and almost everyone
has each.

Students nowadays, put their duty on their cellphones. It helps them in different
aspects. Through technology, they accomplish their projects and assignments on time,
technology also their source of information. These technologies also help them to make
a research. Technology helped not just the students these also help the Educators as
well in different ways. Through technology teachers easily prepared their presentation
for their lectures, it also assists them in tallying the grades of the students quickly.

Furthermore, this study will aim to know If the usage of technology in education is
effective. It also aims to know the advantages of using computer in the field of
education. It deems to formulate, recommendation for them to be guided if the usage of
technology is effective or not. Nevertheless, the purpose of this study is to gain more
knowledge about this matter.

According to Trilling (2016), Computer and other technology helped the students
to enhance their skill, knowledge and through gathering of information. With the “One-
to-One” program wherein, students from Michigan State University were given a chance
to has a laptop for each and everyone to help them with their academic performances.
Additionally, as Lowerison (2006) there is a perceived effectiveness of computer
use to the students from secondary classrooms. Computer technology helps the
students through facilitating of learning, they’ve learned to use technology in a
meaningfully ways, ang work with other students as a group with the use of
technological communication.

In the study of McGill and Klobas (2009), stated that students' positive attitude
towards learning management systems had a significant effect on utilization of the
system, which positively influenced the perceived impact on learning. The learning
effect from the benefits of such technologies is premised on the user's skillful handling
of the technologies.

Another study by Woodcock et al. (2012) stated that various area of students’
lives would change by increasing smartphone use as students begin to utilize this
device to increase their learning knowledge. Smartphones use in learning context can
further lead students to be aware of the benefits they might encounter such as are able
to learn anything at anywhere and anytime as well as encourage students to involve in
learning activities. This shows that technology able to open and increase student’s
prospect especially in their academic.

According to Guo, Lu, Li, and Li (2011), students tend to maintain social
relationships with others by interacting with them through diverse technologies either
synchronously or asynchronously. In addition, students prefer their communicative
interactions to take the form of long chatting or fast interaction speeds, including quick
feedback. For such interactions, students need to acquire knowledge and skills related
to technologies such as smartphones. This knowledge and skillset can be referred to as
interaction competency.

Based on Sarwar and Soomro (2013) stated the positive impact of smartphones
in education context, it enables society to access various learning resources and
provide opportunities for individuals to continue their education by distance learning.

As Ghavifekr (2015) says that, Computer helped not just the students, as well as
the educators. Computer help the Educators in presentations, and they've created a
new technique in teaching. The traditional method of teaching was been replaced in this
modern era. Because of computer, Teachers also found the professional development
training program, and enhanced the skills and knowledge of the student on Information
Communication technologies (ICT).

In addition, Yang et. al. (2015), Students in IWB (Interactive Whiteboard) group
have significantly better learning effectiveness. They also tend to have more positive
attitude towards the learning environment and they IWB enhanced the students to
participate to their lectures.

In the study of Kuznekoff & Titsworth (2013), Students who were not using their
mobile phones wrote down 62% more information in their notes, took more detailed
notes, were able to recall more detailed information from the lecture, and scored a full
letter grade and a half higher on a multiple choice test than those students who were
actively using their technologies in class.

Another study conducted by Alfawareh and Jusoh (2014) study revealed that
students do not fully utilize smartphones for learning motive but utilize it to make calls,
taking pictures and browsing internet.

Furthermore, Hanson et al. (2011) stated that students prefer to use instant
messaging, email and web-surfing in library rather than looking into library online
resources.

INTERVIEW:

1.) What do you think are the advantages of computer in your performance?
 Student A: It helps me to find the meaning of the unknown words faster than
the dictionary. And through this I can make typing jobs and projects that some
of teacher’s requirement.
 Student B: Through computer some assignments are easily to do, and it take
a little effort for us.

2.) For you, what are the possible effect of computers to your performances?

 Student A: With the use of computer, I can make my assignments and it also
help me to release my negative thoughts by playing computer.
 Student B: Computer help me in making a research also it gives me additional
knowledge and giving me advantages in my performances in school.

3.) Why do you think it is important to have a knowledge about using technologies?

 Student A: Because computer and other technologies has different advantages


and through computer, we can find answers through the help of internet.
 Student B: I think because of this has different ways in helping the humanity it
can be a solution through us.

4.) Do you think the use of computer should be avoided? Why? Or why not?

 Student A: For some people that get addicted, yes because all too much is
harmful. not because this is computer is used for communicating, entertainment,
and Computers are used in so many fields in our daily life.
 Student B: For me, to the people who highly put their all responsibilities in
Computer yes, because it can affect their mind and beliefs. But somehow
computer has a huge help in us, maybe we should have to limit using or putting
everything in computer.

5.) How do you think computer help you with your performance in school?

 Student A: It becomes my source of information that’s why I can answer in every


recitation and I can advance in studying with internet and searching in computer.
 Student B: Through browsing and advance reading it gives me ideas and insights
about what is the topic all about and it gives me advantage in making or typing
some projects in school.

Synthesis:

According to the research studies of Trilling, Ghavifekr, Kuznekoff & Titsworth,


Woodcock et al. Computer helps the student in gathering information and earning
important new knowledge as well as student A and B answer from questions number 1,
2, 3, and 5. Computer helps them to find the information that they need and it makes
their research easy and they can took any information they needed.

Based on the researches and article of Guo et al., lfawareh and Jusoh,
Lowerison et al., Yang et. al., and Hanson et al. Computers and smartphones has
different ways in helping the humanity, this can help them to connecting with other
people as well as it can help them in socializing through online communication.
Computers and phones also provide the information that can be useful for everyone’s
for their daily living, as well as co-researchers response.
