Homer’s the Odyssey is considered the most famous of epics. Set around 1200 BC,
Odysseus is a representation of ancient Greek belief’s about what qualities an epic
hero should possess and what obstacles would stand in the way of success. In 2009,
Rick Riordan, author of The Lightning Thief created Percy Jackson, a contemporary
representation of an epic hero. Although Riordan uses the framework of The
Odyssey to tell Percy Jackson’s epic story, there are differences between Percy and
Odysseus because of different culture beliefs.

Speeding bullet and leaps tall buildings in a single bound are description used too
describe superman’s heroic qualities cultures throughout time have created their
version of an epic hero while contemporary writer. Obstacles in spite of these
similarities , Odysseus focus is on safely returning home too claim his wife and
kingdom while Percy Jackson’s guest involves locating Zeus’s lighting bolt in order
too save the world of humans.

Like all hero’s Percy and Odysseus have heroic qualities and mentors who assit
them on their journey, he’s smart young and loyal. He’s determined to get what his
mind is set on aluras. He’s a fast learner! The Mentor , Anna Beth , posseidn father.
Percy’s father is something else! He’s very rude and mean too him. Percy and
Odysseus they have heroic qualities they get them from helping Percy Jackson while
Anna Beth and Zeus ( I believe ] try to stay protecting Peras. They had a survere
case of ADHD. So he was forgetting a lot about what would happen and when he
remembered it could’ve been too late. These qualities and mentors sometimes
appear as super natural elements when the hero’s are tasked with defeating
obstacles.

Most Hero’s encountered super natural evens Odysseus and Percy have the
different type of qualities. And have no expectations. Both Odysseus and Percy have
heroic qualities and they have mentors who use super natural power. To assit them
on their quests ; however their motivation go home for pursuing their
quests/missions are different. They had no expectations so they couldn’t stop
anything that was going too happen they just had to live with it and see what each
day thought upon too him. Mentors and their super natural qualities.

Even though these similarities between two hero’s it is only natural too except
differences. Between Odysseus and Percy. They had many similarities they’re both

anothers powers but sometimes they can over come you, they could mess up
quickly and you wouldn’t even realize how much danger having powers like that

Even though the story of odysseus is a reflection of ancient Greek culture and Percy
Jackson is a comtempory hero, both make a trip to the underworld and both are
distracted by lotus fruit.
