Autographs of Los Angeles Rams Team Hotel Dupont Plaza, Washington DC, November 27, 1953 Luncheon Menu of Crown Room

Paul Richardson 2010

My Aunt Doris was having lunch at the Crown Room that day and took a menu over to where the team was sitting, asking them to autograph it. She gave it to me that year for an early Christmas present. It is fun in addition to remembering some of the great players on that team to look at the prices on the menu. Definitely a lot of inflation in the 57 years that have passed since then. Also worth noting is the penmanship of the signatures. These were football players not doctors or we wouldn t have been able to read the names. Signatures include y Tank Younger College Football Hall of Fame, Grambling State University y T Bone Fears two year All American at UCLA, first wide receiver in NFL, Pro-Football Hall of Fame, 1970 y Norb Hecker most famous for game-saving tackle in 1951 championship vs. Cleveland Browns y Herb Rich played safety, college at Vanderbilt y Don Paul selected to Pro Bowl 3 years as Ram, one of only 2 players to play in 6 UCLA-USC games in WWII era y Harland Svare linebacker/tailback, college at Washington State y Charles Toogood tackle, Nebraska y Stan West Defensive line, played at Oklahoma for Bud Wilkinson y Skeet Quinlan half back, San Diego State y Vitamin T Smith running back, kick returner, Abilene Christian y DeJay Archer not listed on player roster y Rudy Bukich rookie QB, Iowa and USC y Red Hickey wide receivers coach, invented the shotgun formation y Johnny Saur not listed on player roster y Crazylegs Hirsch end, halfback, defensive end, Michigan and Wisconsin, Pro Football Hall of Fame, 1968 y Larry Brink defensive end, end, Northern Illinois y Dick Dougherty guard, linebacker, center, Oregon y Ben Agajanian kicker, New Mexico
