COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course progresses knowledge of Fluid Mechanics-I to advanced principles. Students will learn the basics
of conservation laws governing fluid flow. The primary focus will be the introduction, analysis, and design of
pipe flows followed by introduction to turbomachinery employed in hydraulic structures and daily use.
TEXT AND MATERIALS:

TEXTBOOK

1. Finnemore, John E., and Joseph B. Franzini. Fluid mechanics: with engineering applications. McGraw-Hill,
2002.

REFERENCES MATERIAL:

1. Douglus, Fluid Mechanics, McGraw-Hill Inc.

2. Jack P., Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics, McGraw-Hill Inc.
3. Merle Potter, Mechanics of Fluid, CL- Engineering (2011)
4. R. S Khurmi, Hydraulics, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES(PLOs):

The course is designed so that students will achieve the PLO/s:

1. PLO-2: Engineering Knowledge: An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science,
engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering
problems.
2. PLO-3: Design/Development of Solutions: An ability to design solutions for complex engineering
problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate
consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES(CLOs):

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
