ArtRage Tool Cursor


The ArtRage Tool Cursor takes the Iorm oI an oval. the
oval‚s longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the direction oI
the cursor motion.

When the tool size
is small the
cursor becomes a
Precise Cursor
(cross-hair)

The cursor can be a cross-hair all the time by
selecting Edit > Preferences > Use Precise
Cursor.


A larger Precise Cursor is also an option which can also be selected in the PreIerences
menu by clicking on the bottom line Magnify The Precise Cursor.

Brush Tool & Brush Tool Control Panel









Pressure: the level of pressure the tool assumes




Thinners: controls the amount oI solvent mixed with the paint.
100° is all solvent on a brush or roller that hasn‚t been thoroughly
cleaned and zero percent in no paint. However. the percent solvent
eIIect diIIers depending on the percent solvent in two ways:.
1. Zero to 50° solvent is un-thinned paint.
2. 50 to 99° thinner makes the paint more transparent
The tool size window displays a brush stroke or roller path with the
selected amount oI thinner.
Loading: the amount oI paint that is on the brush or roller at the
beginning oI a stroke. The eIIect oI very small loadings oI these
two tools can be seen in their size windows. The tool size window
displays a brush stroke or roller path with no and low selected
amounts oI paint loading
Insta-Dry: prevents previously deposited paint is dry and cannot
be picked up by the tool
Auto Clean: : prevents previously deposited paint is dry and
cannot be picked up by the tool

Reset: sets the tool controls to their deIault settings

Pencil Tool & Pencil Tool Control Panel











Pressure: adjusts the level of pressure the Pencil assumes you are
applying



Softness: The softness of the pencil lead.



Tilt Angle: how far the head of the pencil is tilted over. The higher
the tilt value, the thicker the stroke because youÊre using more of
the lead.

Reset: sets the tool controls to their deIault settings

Edge: ON: the blade does not apply evenly over the stroke

leftover glitter back in its pot, the higher the value, the more colors
of glitter come out at once

In ArtRage 2.2 the Color Picker has a control panel with two on/oII selector buttons and a
reset button. The Single Layer option when activated limits the color picker to colors on
the currently active layer. The With Lighting option when oII permits selecting the true
color oI the as opposed to the color with ArtRage‚s lighting eIIect.

Felt Tip Pen Tool & Control Panel










Pressure: the level of pressure the tool assumes



Softness: softer the nib, the more expressive the stroke, hard tips
barely change size

Wetness: adjusts how color blends,
! dry pens will tend to darken color they apply over,
! wet pens will tend to blend with it and create solid blocks of
color and create strokes that sink in to the canvas more

Color:

In the Hue-Saturation/Level Color Picker shown here color changes are
made as Iollows:
! Hue is varied by moving the color selector dot in the palette at a
constant distance Irom the center oI the palette
! Saturation is increased by moving the color selector dot away Irom
the center
! Level is changed by moving the selector dot up or down as required



Colors can be described relative to their three main characteristics:
! Color (Hue) identiIied as the color name (red. green. purple. etc.). directly related
to the color‚s wavelength
! Saturation measures the purity oI the color. or how sharp or dull the color is (also
called chroma)
! Brightness (Luminance or Value) the shade oI a color between white and black
