Business Source Complete
Contains Datamonitor Industry Profiles for a number of countries on the topic of Real Estate Management and the
Development Industry. Also contains a number of industry publications such as Retail Real Estate Business
Conditions, Commercial Property News and National Real Estate Investor.

Emerald Management Xtra
Provides full text coverage of a number of relevant journals, including titles such as Journal of Corporate Real
Estate and Journal of Property Finance

An excellent source of Business, News and trade publications, some of the relevant titles covered by Factiva
include: Commercial real Estate, DTZ Asia Property Market Update, Estates Gazette and Real Estate Issues.

Major market profiles on Commercial Real Estate and Property management for France, Germany, UK & US

ISI Emerging Markets
Is a useful source of reports and articles on the Real Estate industry in countries in Eastern Europe, South America
and Asia.

Research Papers and Articles

The American Real Estate Society (ARES) ‘is a society of and for high-level practicing professionals and real
estate professors at colleges and universities throughout the United States and the world’
Links through to the journals published by the society such as the Journal of Real Estate Research and the Journal
of Real Estate Portfolio Management. In some cases the full text of some articles can be accessed free of charge.

British Council of Shopping Centres
Lists a number of research publications on its website, some are available free of charge to non-members of the
council, others can be bought, some reports available to members only.

British Property Federation
‘The British Property Federation is the trade association of the property industry’. Has some downloadable research
papers and publications.

The Corporation of London produces a range of surveys and reports, some of which look at the property market in
the City of London.

Estates Gazette
Weekly publication, principally for the commercial property market although does have occasional features on the
Residential market. Please note full text content is available online for the London Business School Community
through the Factiva database.

Real Estate
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (A US Government Agency) produces a twice yearly Survey of Real Estate
Trends covering residential, commercial and industrial markets.

FT Property special reports.
These are produced quite regularly and each one tends to focus on a different market e.g. the European
Commercial market or the UK Residential Market etc..
Please note: The London Business School Library keeps copies of FT surveys for up to 2 years in print. For current
students and staff or Alumni of the school the surveys can also be accessed via the FT Intelligence site.

Housing Finance
A UK journal produced by the Council of Mortgage Lenders. Articles and statistics covering a wide range of issues
relating to the UK Housing market, mortgages etc.. However it also occasionally includes articles looking at the
housing market in other countries – for example the Irish, Japanese and US housing markets have all been looked

Real Estate Journal (the Wall Street Journal’s Real Estate Guide)
Has information and news articles on residential and commercial property.

Some of the Commercial Real Estate companies have some great research on their websites, some of which is
available free of charge for example try CB Richard Ellis for research on
commercial property rents worldwide and vacancy reports. You will need to register with the site to get to some of
the research reports. Or try International Property consultants King Sturge for
a wide range of reports and statistics. Again you will need to register to access some content.
For information on vacancy and rental rates in the US office, retail and industrial markets try Grubb-Ellis’s quarterly
trend reports. This web-page also links to a 2007 Global real estate forecast

The website of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has links to statistics on many aspects of the UK housing

The Inland Revenue (UK) keeps statistics on property transactions and stamp duty
Free information (must register first), about office developments in major UK cities. Site states that information will
also soon be added for some European cities. A similar site exists for Business Parks
Property Investments

Association of Real Estate Funds. UK organization, can download quarterly
statistics on this industry.

Investment Property Forum calls itself ‘the influential and reforming force for anyone with an
interest in commercial property’. It is a non-profit making organisation. It’s Research and Publications area includes
a summary report on Risk Management Research Phase II
‘Despite recent advances, the concept of 'portfolio risk management' is much less well developed in property than it
is in other investment asset classes. Phase 2 of the IPF's risk research investigates the methods of measuring,
managing and controlling risk in property investment portfolios.’ ’

Investment Property Databank
Suppliers of ‘independent market indices and portfolio benchmarks to the property industry’.
Some of its index data for the UK and other countries can be downloaded free of charge. For anyone with access
to Datastream, some of the IPD indexes are also available via that Database

National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries
The US National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF) is an association of institutional real
estate professionals. It produces quarterly, the NCREIF Property Index (NPI), which shows real estate performance
returns using data submitted by their Data Contributing Members. The NPI is used as an industry benchmark to
compare an investor's own returns against the industry average. The site has some free information such as
quarterly index returns back to 1978, and also some useful documents relating to real estate.
National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts
Although a US organisation it does offer some global and European index data free of charge.
For UK government time series data on Property Unit Trusts try and use the link to
time series data.
Try articles from Commercial Investment Real Estate magazine for information on
real estate investment in the US. Produced by the CCIM Institute (CCIM= Certified Commercial Investment
Member). It has a searchable archive of articles back to 1994.
The Property Investor News (see website ) is a magazine aimed at people
looking to invest privately in the residential real estate markets of the UK and Europe.

Property Mall
Good site for links to organizations and companies related to all aspects of the Property Industry. Primarily a UK site
also has European information.
