Description of Assignment

X86-64 bit processors have been introduced since 1992, it was designed to support gaming, 3D design
programs, architectural programs and other programs that require more processing horsepower than the 32 bit
processor. Some example of an x86-64 bit processors are AMD Athlon 64, AMD Athlon 64 FX, and the Intel
64-bit models such as Intel Xeon and Intel Celeron D and etc. Both AMD and Intel have introduced 64-bit
chips. A 64-bit processor generally means it has a 64-bit ALUs, 64-bit registers, 64-bit buses and so on.

Question: Choose TWO 64-bit microprocessor to study on the architecture of the processor, bus architecture
and the pipeline architecture. Explain the effects of each architecture to the computer’s performance
respectively.

Instructions:
1. Form a group of three to a maximum of four members.
2. Discussion needs to be conduct in Blackboard Group Discussion forum.
3. Arrange your report and upload your report for plagiarism check before sending for printing. You are advise
to upload your report at least 5 days before the due date to make sure you have enough time for correction (if
necessary).
4. Print out the final version of your report together with the plagiarism report before the due date. Attach the
plagiarism report to Appendix A.
5. Each members need to produce a 150 to 200 words self-reflective report and screenshot personal posts
posted in the discussion forum, attach both document into the appendix B and C accordingly.
