Shorrt Descrription
Many hhave alread dy asked:
How doo I get a video imagee on the dissplay?
How doo I get a Liine-In?
To the Connect Nav
N + by Magneti
M Mirrelli.

After quite a bit of

o prelimina
ary work w
was done, I decided to
o try my lucck and was
s very
happy it worked.

I have tried to explain myse

elf the bestt I can whille writing th
hese instruuctions.

Howevver you sho ould know in advance e, soldering to the vid

deo input oof the displlay
board iis required. It is very small, I takke no resp
ponsibility for
f any dam mage you cause.

I got th
hese picture
es from forrums and w
websites to
o use as points of refference to the
texts and drawing gs describe
ed below.

Introduction
n
The d display unit
u is comprised d of the e TFT screen aand a Control.
C
On the
e control bo
oard is the "Signal Prrocessor fo
or Color TF
FT" NJW13300B.

This IC
C has 64 pins and serrves as ann interface between th
he motherbboard and
Screenn. The mainnboard proovides a RGGB and a synchroniz zation Signnal to the control
c
board aand so the
e NJW1300 0B. This ch
hip can do even more e. It also haas two inputs
S-Video (Y / C). In
I this conn
nection, wee will do ou
ur Focus set.
s

One more point tot the video o signal itsself. The NJW1300B can still seee the spre ead of
signal PAL (50Hzz) support, but the Co ontrol boarrd only for NTSC (600Hz) designned.
There aare althouggh PAL-M with the sa ame sync frequency
f of 60 Hz aas in NTSC
C, but
then would be the e visible im
mage is onlly black an nd white. So
S should
Devicees (eg DVDD or DVB-T T) NTSC su upport.
Recon
nstructioon of thee displayy controll
As I saaid the conttrol board is our basee. After rem
moving youu definitelyy need this object
in frontt of you. (U
Unfortunate
ely, I had n
no other piccture. So please
p ignoore the greeen
wires)

These are the rellevant pins

s.

Pin 9: C
Croma (C--IN)
Pin 26:: luminace (Y-IN)
Pin 28:: Switch, iss standard on 5V + (sswitching between
b RGB and Y / C)
Connector A: C-S Sync to 1300B
Connector B: C-S Sync from the mothe rboard
The coonnections to all 5 pin
ns should b
be carefully
y soldered using insuulated 0.5 mm
wire.

The coonnection between

b po
oints A an
nd B must be
b severed
d (see greeen line in th
he
picture
e above).

Particuular attentio
on should be
b paid to pins 9, 26 and 28 as
s errors wil l cause
interferrence. Do not over heeat the join
nts.

Once these chan

nges have been made
e, it can be
e connecte
ed to this ccircuit.

On thee function of
o control: I have chossen the va alue of 2.2 KW, I just had nothin ng
better tto hand. But he is pe erfectly ade equate. Ma an needs th his trimmerr, because e the
level off the input signal is to
oo high an d you else e to get a distorted piccture. Whe en
setting both contrrols to turnn on Mass and is only y one of the trimmer slowly for the Y
signal rresponsible for the immage to bla ack and wh hite is visib
ble. It woulld have the
e
standinng of Contrroller are almost
a in th
he middle. Then, to set the conttrols for the e color
(Croma a) a. This must
m not be regulated d until the mid-positio on should be, depending on
how the image co ontrast Reich. The re elay should d be small. I'm lookin g for a Sub b-
Miniatuure Relay decided
d whhich is no llarger than n an IC. This one I haave then on n the
Chip bo onded. A great
g advantage of su uch a relay y has in an ny case, beecause it granted
an elecctrical disco
onnect.
The 5VV + and gro ound I've got
g myself ffrom a readily available, such aas Elko
you can see in th he picture below.
b
The co omposite caable (thick black line)) is shielde
ed. The yellow line leeads to the switch
that caan switch between the e two mod es. This bo oth lines are now outt of the display
unit, byy the Greatt Radio housing led oout the bac ck. If every
ything woulld have woorked
the ima age look so
omething like this.

For mee it was impportant thaat the messsages from

continu
ue to functiion. So I've
e thought aabout wherre the audiio should ggo and I oppted for
the cha

he CDC insstalled and thus the CDC
C buttonn is active,, this
was thee fastest solution.
So youu can use this

ou have a changer

Howevver, for videeo sound to be heard d a CD must be in thee changer and being

include

have to
