3. U: Starting from the right foot, close the ma-ai, and place the right hand on the tsuka in a Hanmi stance. J: Starting from the left foot,
close the ma-ai using Ayumi Ashii, stretch out the right hand, and thrust josekki towards Ganmen to interrupt Uchidachi’ s initiative.

5. J: Stepping forward with the right foot, raise the josekki upward, place the other end of the jo against the Hibara, bring the left foot to the
right foot, and at the same time, grasp the jo with the left hand “Jun ni Nigiru”. (Jun is an old Budo term, roughly to place in sequence.)
6. J: Drawing back the right foot, reverse the righthand grip, and assume the same position as at the end of Raiuchi.
7. U: Drawing back the right foot in one big step, draw the sword upward and to the right at an angle.

9. J: Drawing back the right foot, take a reversed right hand Hikiotoshi no Kamae.
10. U: Step in with the right foot and cut Shomen. J: Stepping forward with the left foot, stretch out the left hand, restrain Uchidachi’ s
Ganmen, and move forward.
11. J: Stepping with the right foot then the left foot, turn to the left, ending at right angles to Uchidachi; stop the tachi at the tsuka with a
scooping action, and move into Kuritsuke.

14. U: Drawing back with the left foot, receive Kuritsuke.
15. U: Stepping back with the left foot, draw the sword up (Furikaburi) to left Hasso. J: Taking one step forward with the left foot, bring the
feet together, and take the entire jo in both hands.
16. U: Step in with the right hand and cut Dou. J: Drawing back the right foot, assume a Hanmi stance, and rotate the sword out in Dobarai
fashion; strike Hibara, thrusting forward both hands to the right at an angle, and stop Uchidachi by locking the right elbow.
17. U: Drawing back the right foot, take Hasso no Kamae. J: Stepping back with the right foot, take a reversed right hand Hikiotoshi no
Kamae.
18. U: Stepping out with the right foot, cut to the upper arm. J: Bring the right foot to the left foot, and at the same time, rotating the josekki
upward, strike using Gyakute Uchi to Ganmen to stop tachi.

21. J: Releasing the left hand, take the right hand to the upper right, flip the jo over, draw the right foot back and take Hasso no Kamae.

take a half-step back with the right foot, then take a full step back with the left foot, and push back towards tachi strongly.
32. U: Step in with the left foot and cut to migi Dou (“Kiriharau” to cut thru penetrate). J: Drawing back deeply with the right foot, slide
the right hand up to the josekki, turning your body to the right, take the entire jo in both hands as you raise it overhead, and at the same
time, bring the left foot to the right foot, to avoid the Dobarai cut.

34. J: Lowering the jo, step out with the left foot, and thrust the left Hibara.
35. U: At the moment of being struck, step back with the right foot.
36. U: Draw back the right foot into Hasso no Kamae. J: Drawing back the right foot, take Hikiotoshi no Kamae.
37. U: Stepping in the right foot, cut Shomen. J: Stepping out to the left with the left foot, step forward with the right foot, and in Hanmi,
raise the jo overhead, taking the posture of Kurihanashi.-

and block the tachi using Dobarai.

65. J: Bringing the left fist to the center line, raise the josekki and demonstrate zanshin. U: Withdrawing the left foot, square to the
