2011 brings us a sign of hope and new vitality and wishes for a Happy New Year!
It is exciting to begin January ushering in all victorious Republicans around the country and to Washington and see the stage set once again for promotion of conservative principles and logic. The Constitution is read aloud!! This truly marks a great moment in time and may the younger generations pay attention to the “Word of the People” - the primary guide that keeps our nation the greatest on earth. We must accept the responsibility to support our leaders diligently. And when we watch with care as coaches and umpires do in a football game, we will know exactly when to throw in the “Red and Yellow Flags” to stop the action, contact them, rewind the misuse of power or money we entrusted them with, and hand out penalties when they are deemed. We must “step in” and get out of our comfort zone to take our nation back to greatness. We can and will do it – even if we have to sleep with one eye open.
In recent years, many leftists ignore the fact that our nation was founded on Christian-Judeo principles. How can they dismiss what our founding Fathers have written and is part of our recorded history? Here are just a couple of examples: “Principally and rst of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it: and my body I recommend to the earth... nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mercy and power of God.” John Hancock, signer of the Declaration of Independence “It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Patrick Henry, while Governor of Virginia

Okay class....today we will have a short vocabulary lesson. Please de ne the following: 1. patriot 2. patriotic 3. patriotism 4. zealous 5.traitor 6. treason 7. colonialism 8. anti-colonialism According to Webster's New 20th Century Dictionary, a patriot is "a person who loves and loyally or zealously supports his/her own country." Being patriotic means that one is "devoted to the welfare of one's country." Patriotism is "love and loyal or zealous support of one's own country...nationalism." At a recent gathering, as I was verbally being "a patriot" another guest said, "You must be a Republican." Now isn't that an interesting statement? Does this mean Republicans are the patriots of the day? Let's be zealous (enthusiastic) in our patriotism. Let's be leaders in sharing information and knowledge. There are those in government today who could easily be labeled a "traitor..." one who betrays his/her country, cause, friends, etc." I believe there are those guilty of "treason" as they betray one's country and betray the trust given them with the o ce they hold in government. To learn the de nitions of numbers 7 and 8 and the possible future of the USA, please read an important and excellent book: The Roots of Obama's Rage by Dinesh DiSouza. More about this next time. Signing o for now....this is Mary Responda, The Patriot's Answer to Jane Fonda. Responda's the name and learning is the game. Join me?

California Legislative Report
As of this writing, just as the new year has begun, we can breathe a sigh of relief because our elected State o cials are not in Sacramento where they seem to only dismantle our economy and pass harmful legislation. I am sure some are taking luxurious vacations since their salaries allow such extravagance the majority of Californians cannot a ord. It will be interesting to watch what happens when those who have taken us into such debt try to convince us they can solve our scal problems. I shudder to think of who is our new/old Governor. Hopefully, Moonbeam Brown has learned something since the last time his actions nearly ruined our state. Unfortunately, liberals don’t seem to learn from history and, from my observations, it looks as though their brains cannot calculate facts and gures accurately. We will be watching and reporting as the year proceeds...a somewhat dismal task of late.

What Will the 112th Congress Do?
Well, if you happened to catch the Sunday morning shows, you might have heard what Darrell Issa has planned. He will be the chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee. Issa said on January 2nd, "The sooner the administration figures out that the enemy is the bureaucracy and the wasteful spending, not the other party, the better off we'll be." The representative from Kentucky, Harold Rogers, who will be the leader of the House Appropriations Committee, wants to bring the top officials from all the major government agencies to appear and justify their spending. Fred Upton of Michigan, who will be the next chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, has stated he will work to stop the over-zealous government regulators. He cites the EPA as a big target for him but one has to wonder, given the fact that he was the Republican lawmaker responsible for banning the incandescent light bulb. Well, whatever they do, I would like to see this Congress grow a backbone and not compromise their ideals. If I were to give them some advice, I would say, DO NOT repeat the errors of the 1994 Congress. Realize that you have been given the job to do the people's work and if you fail, you too will be replaced! I would like to start the vertebra campaign, "Send a Vertebra to the New Congress." It might serve as a reminder.

An examination of the calendar for 2011 reveals that Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address will occur on the same day. Ironic, isn't it? One event involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of limited intelligence for prognostication. The other involves a groundhog. ****** Same old, same old... "The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be re lled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of o cialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." ....Cicero - 55 BC

Hello and Happy New Year to you!
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year celebration. We accomplished much in 2010 and overall it was a great year. 2011 also looks to be more promising for conservative endeavors. This year we need to work even harder to educate people because the battle is far from over. Everyone should be vigilant, informed, and speak out against the progressive movement. You can do this by joining us at Humboldt Republican Women. We must take back our country! We need more conservatives like you running for local o ces, volunteering, donating, and writing letters to the editor. Get involved or just come to our meetings so you will be informed on local, state, and national issues! You are not alone. We are a family. You will realize in joining HRWF that there are many people like you who want to take their country back to what our founding fathers had intended. We have always been a grassroots organization. 2011 marks our 73rd year!
The month of January begins our HRWF Membership drive.
Please send in $30 for the annual 2011 membership dues. A membership form is included for you below. ■ The Republican Party - the party of ■ ■
■ ■ ■
Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. What’s More:
Abraham Lincoln - was borne in 1854 out of opposition to slavery. The party of Jim Crow and the Ku Klux Klan was the Democratic Party, as Jeffrey Lord points out in an article at the Wall St. Journal. The 13th (abolishing slavery), 14th (due process for all citizens) and 15th (voting rights cannot be restricted on the basis of race) Amendments were enacted by Republicans over Democratic opposition. The NAACP was founded in 1909 by three white Republicans who opposed the racist practices of the Democratic Party . Republican President Ike Eisenhower proposed to Congress the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960 and signed those acts into law. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was championed by JFK - but it was passed with massive Republican support (over 80%) in Congress and over fierce opposition from Democrats who made repeated attempts at filibuster. Indeed, 80% of the vote opposing the Civil Rights Act came from Democrats.
