PRAYING WITH ICONS
Icons are religious images, primarily of Christ, but also of Mary and the saints. They are
painted in a conventional model of symbolism and are visual expressions of a deeper reality.
Sr. Antonia Cooper will guide us through a brief background and history of icons, including
the theology of the symbols and colors. Using two of her own icons, Sr. Antonia will share
the process of “writing an icon” in the Russian tradition. Each participant will have an
opportunity to spend some time in interior solitude with the “prayer of gazing” before an
icon.
Tuesday, February 8, 2011
7:30 – 9:30 p.m., Parish Hall
Presented by Sister Antonia Cooper, OSF
Space is limited to 30 participants/registration encouraged

Sister Antonia Cooper, OSF, is a Franciscan Servant of the Holy Child Jesus, a Spiritual
Director, a practitioner of holistic modalities, and enjoys various forms of art.

Please return this form to the Catechetical Office located in the rectory.
You may also register by email (olpcatoff@aol.com)
or by phoning the Catechetical Office at 908-464-8156.
