Entry Rules
PRE-REGISTRATION ENTRY FEE:
$25 for one entry (non-refundable)
ARTS COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED:
Artist: $40 Student*: $20
*Student Membership: Must be enrolled full-time in
high school or college to qualify for this rate
MEDIA SPECIFICATIONS**
 ALL MEDIA AND SUJECT MATTER ARE
ELIGIBLE
 All 2D entries must be securely wired and ready to
hang.
 Entries using saw-tooth hangers, built-in or clip-
style, WILL NOT be accepted.
 2D entries: Overall dimensions, including frame,
CANNOT EXCEED 30” x 32”. (Due to the large
number of entries for this exhibition, we MUST
restrict the size of each 2D piece.) Submissions must
be appropriately framed or gallery wrapped.
 3D entries: CANNOT be larger than 3’W x 3’D x
6’H, and must not require assembly by Arts Council
staff. Weight of 3D entries should not exceed what
can be safely lifted by one person.
 Please indicate your pedestal needs on entry form.
**Artwork that does not meet exhibition criteria
WILL NOT be accepted.
The Arts Council of SW Indiana reserves
the right to make the final interpretation of all rules.

ENTRIES/PROCEDURES
 Each artist will have the opportunity to display one
piece of art, as long as it meets all requirements.
 Final determination of suitable images for public
display will be made by the juror.
 Entry cannot have been displayed in the Bower-
Suhrheinrich Foundation Gallery or have won a
cash award in ANY regional exhibition
 Work MUST have been created within the past
TWO years (nothing before 2009).
 All entries must be the original work of the
entering artist (no prints).
 Artist should complete entry form and pay entry
fee by Monday, Feb. 14 by 5:00p.m.
 Artist must have the name ID tag attached securely
to the back UPPER LEFT HAND corner.
 All artwork must remain on display the entire
duration of the show.
 All sales generated from ART IN THE CITY will
be subject to the 35% commission policy,
established by the Arts Council. If the piece is for
sale, each artist should price their work accordingly.

 2011 Juror - John Begley
John Begley, M.F.A., Louisville, Kentucky,
has been the Gallery Director and
Coordinator of the Critical and Curatorial
Studies Concentration for the Department of
Fine Arts’ MA degree at the University of
Louisville since 2001. John’s career has
been equally divided as an artist and teacher
and has had 33+ years’ experience as a
curator and gallery director. He has been a
Zephyr Gallery member since 1987 and has
served as the Executive Director of the
Louisville Visual Art Association since
1983.
John serves on the New Harmony Gallery of
Contemporary Art Advisory Board and the
MetroLouisville Mayor’s Committee on
Public Art among other affiliations. He is a
Getty Trust Museum Management Institute
Fellow (Getty Foundation) and also received
a Louis Comfort Tiffany Fellowship.
John was a resident of New Harmony for
several years, serving as the Director of the
New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary
Art.

ART IN THE CITY is our annual Members’ Art for Arts Council Members
Exhibition. ONE ENTRY ONLY PER ARTIST.
Each entry WILL BE displayed, as long as all
entry requirements have been met. ALL entries will February 25 - April 6, 2011
be juried for cash awards.
