January 23, 2011 Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Pastor’s Corner ~
The SECOND READING today teaches us that as believers, we should not be divided by our loyalty to personalities or leaders in our society. Our ultimate loyalty is to Jesus Christ, the source of all Truth and the Light of the world. The personalities we know, whether in Church, politics, sports, showbiz or any other aspects in life, are mere instruments of God in this world. Though God chose authorities to lead us, these leaders should direct us in the way God wants us to go, that is, the way to salvation and not the leaders’ personal glorification. Being human, even leaders have the tendency to work on personal gain rather than work for God’s kingdom that should be the end of all human endeavors. Likewise, ordinary people sometimes believe more on the person of the leaders rather than on the good principles and truth in life. We should never forget, God is our origin and He is also our destiny. God should always come first and everything else is secondary. THEY DID IT AGAIN. We express our gratitude to the men of the parish who gave their time and labor to repair the Youth Room in the Ministry Center. The newly repaired room makes a better place for our Youth Group to enjoy their regular Sunday gathering. We hope that there will be more men and women in the parish who will volunteer their time and talent for the growth of this community of faith.
