Council for National Policy Member and Spouse Biographies The Westin Charlotte Charlotte, North Carolina October 4-6, 2018 Steven Aden - Member Steven H. Aden joined Americans United for Life in August 2017 as its Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, overseeing all legal operations of America's most effective pro-life organization. Aden is a highly experienced litigator, having appeared in court against Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry dozens of times and been appointed by the attorneys general of six states to defend pro-life laws. Aden secured court victories that upheld an Arizona law that resulted in six abortion businesses ceasing to perform abortions, applied Missouri's abortion laws to chemical abortion, and upheld the right of Louisiana regulators to shut down dangerous abortion facilities. A prolific author and analyst on sanctity of life issues and constitutional jurisprudence, Aden is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Hawaii (inactive), and is a member of the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court and numerous federal circuit and district courts. He has practiced law since 1990 and ‘eamed his J.D. (cum laude) from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from the University of Hawaii. Shawn Akers - Member Shawn D. Akers is a Vice Provost of Liberty University. Previously, he was Dean of. Liberty University's Helms School of Government and served on the adjunct faculty of Liberty University School of Law where he designed and taught the Law School's Public Policy Law courses. Prior to joining Liberty University, Mr. Akers practiced Jaw representing clients in federal and state trial and appellate courts, He has served as a consultant to political candidates and campaigns, has been a guest or co-host of national radio programs, and has drafted a variety of scholarly and popular articles and policy analyses. He is a former member of the Regent University Law Review and a former member of the House of Delegates of the Louisiana State Bar Association (4th JDC). Al Angell - Member Allen Angell isa retired managing partner of Angell Financial Group with \1 Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. Mr. Angell is a member of the Addison City H Council. Previously, she was a federal prosecutor in North Carolina, employee of the Southeastern Legal Foundation and The Rutherford Institute, and clerk for The Honorable J.L. Edmondson in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Ms. ‘Ausbum is a former board member of the Georgia Department of Human Resources and current advisor to numerous youth-oriented groups. She received a J.D. magna ‘cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law. A mother and grandmother, she and her husband, Christopher, live in Woodstock, Georgia. Lawson Bader - Member Lawson Bader is president and CEO of DonorsTrust, a public charity protecting the intent of donors who value limited government, free enterprise, and personal responsibility. Through its donor-advised fund, DonorsTrust has granted over $1 billion to liberty-minded groups in academia, public policy, scientific and medical research, the arts, religion and education. In addition to his foundation work, Lawson has more than 20 years of experience leading free-market research and advocacy ‘groups, including the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Joe Baker - Member Joe Baker is the CEO of Save the Storks, a pro-life ministry in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Joe and his wife, Ann, founded Storks in 2012 with the vision of partnering with pregnaney resource centers (PRCs) across the country and equipping them with mobile medical units (or Stork Buses) in order to serve abortion-vulnerable women by providing free pregnancy tests and sonograms. Going mobile would enable PRCs to travel to locations that their brick and mortar offices would never reach. Today, Storks has 45 buses on the road, 3 in production and 9 in the fundraising phase. More importantly, after hearing the heartbeat on a Stork Bus, thousands of abortion-minded women have chosen life for their babies resulting in over 4,000 babies saved to date. Craig Bergman - Member Craig Bergman is President and CEO of Vortex Network, a blockchain enterprise and holdings company, and Liberty Coin Farms, a crypto-currency mining operation, located in the Heartland of the "Silicon Prairie." Previously, he was ambassador to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, deputy under secretary of the U.S, Department of Housing and Urban Development, mayor, vice mayor, and councilman of the City of Cincinnati, vice president and faculty member of Xavier University, and co-founder of Cincinnati Youth Collaborative. Professionally, Cindy was office manager of Blair Vending and Coffee until the business was sold in 2015. She leads ladies Bible studies, teaches children's Sunday School, helps with Awanas and has a passion for fitness. Cindy currently works part-time coordinating Group Fitness ‘Training at EXOS/Mercy Hospital in Edmond. Her passion has always been helping people live a quality life - Body, Soul, and Spirit. "Jerry" Boykin serves as Family Research Council's Executive Vice President. He was one of the original members of the U.S. Army's Delta Force. He was privileged to ultimately command these elite warriors in combat operations. Later, General Boykin commanded alll the Army's Green Berets as well as the Special Warfare Center and School. In all, General Boykin spent 36 years in the army, serving his last four years as the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts. General Boykin is the author of three novels, as well as his autobiography Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom (2008). Bright is the National Director of Discover God 4 Kids, a project of Bright Media Foundation (an affiliate of Campus Crusade for Christ). In this role, she and her husband, Brad, have co-authored two books for children, and created a children's version of The Four Spiritual Laws, the most widely distributed evangelistic tool in the history of the church.
