TH EME Good versus Evil
• In each and every person, there is the good
side as well as the evil side. God has given
us the freedom to choose between good and
evil. Therefore, man has to decide carefully
as to what type of life he wishes to lead. If
we let the evil part of us control our lives,
we would like Dr.Jekyll, face destruction.
TH EME Crime does not pay
• When we have done something wrong, there is no
place for us to hide our misdoings. Hyde thought
that he could commit crimes and not get caught, if
he turned into Dr.Jekyll. Nobody would suspect
Dr.Jekyll because the latter was a well respected
man in London. Finally Hyde could not escape
punishment because Dr.Jekyll was not able to
reverse the transformation process and remained
Hyde permanently.

So far, so good. But at the sight of the signature, Richard
stiffened, and looked up, a suspicious light in his own
eyes. The cheque had been signed – Henry Jekyll; a name
that Richard, and most of London, knew very well indeed.
The great Dr. Jekyll was famous in the city, and his name
was often in print. Could it be that the cheque was forged?

Mr. Hyde had read Richard’s thoughts. (pg 21)

The document was in the handwriting of Dr. Jekyll, for
Mr. Utterson, though he has taken charge of it now that it
was made, had refused to assist in the making of it. It
provided that, in case of the death of Dr. Jekyll, all his
possessions were to pass into the hands of his good friend
Edward Hyde; but that in case of Dr. Jekyll’s
‘disappearance or unexplained absence for any period
exceeding three calendar months’, the said Edward Hyde
should step into the said Henry Jekyll’s shoes without
further delay. (pg 28-29)
