Fernandino de Moraes. This is a text from an unknown writer, but widely spread among the Umbanda websites regarding its birth. Glossary notes are placed in between paragraphs, as the result of my personal researches.

As the Indian, they suffered all kinds of physical and moral punishments, and even the loss of their own lives. Thus, Indians and blacks -- united by pain, by suffering and by the eagerness of freedom -- disincarnated and incarnated in the Terras da Santa Cruz* (in the Lands of the True Cross).
