6.2, Page HIL For armouring which standard is to be

3 followed, IS 3975 : 1988 or IS 3975 : 1999. In
IS 3975:1999 the value of Tensile Strength &
Elongation are not given for sample taken from
finished cable.

6.2, Page RKEI Clause no.6.2 of IS 7098 (Part-1) clearly states

3 that the galvanized steel Wires/ strips shall
comply with the requirements of IS 3975 :
1979/1988 and BIS Laboratories are issuing
test reports of armour as per IS 3975
:1979/1988 specification. Ref: Test Report No.
(Central Lab) E/40149, 40150, 40151 dated 09-
12-2004. But the manufacturers of ISI marked
armour wires are issuing test certificates as per
IS 3975: 1999 which is a more stringent
specification in quality parameters.

Here, the question is that once we are

manufacturing cables as per IS 7098 (Pt-1),
whether it is justified to test the cable armour as
per IS 3975 : 1999 during third party inspection
who always insist for latest edition.

We want BIS to clear this point.

6.2, Page RKEI The manufacturer of cable armour wires/strips
3 & IS issues test certificates without chemical
3975 composition. The clause A-3.2 Line No. 6 of
IS 3975 : 1999 clearly states that all selected
samples shall be tested for all the chemical
requirements.

Here, we would like BIS to clarify whether

chemical composition of metal is to be
mentioned in the test reports of manufacturer or
not.

During third party inspections, some agencies

are asking for manufacturers test certificates for
chemical analysis as per IS 3975 : 1999.

10.1 c) VCC Core identification of three core cables by

should have been 0,1,2.

11.2, VCC For 23 cores lay up has been shown as 2-7-13.

magnetic material” whereas IS 1554 (Pt-1)
Clause No. 13.2.1 states that : “ In case of
single core cable intended for use in ac
systems, the armouring shall be of non-
magnetic material”.

Since the application of cables is same, we

would like BIS to clarify this point.

15.1 c) HIL Which procedure is to be followed for thermal
