Awards for Singapore’s top ten architectural firms

BCI Awards were bestowed today to Singapore's top ten architectural firms at an exclusive ceremony.
Awards for design were also bestowed by Philips, Schindler, Hansgrohe, Nippon Paint and Autodesk.

The top ten architecture companies in Singapore received awards today from BCI Asia, the construction
information group, in recognition of their contributions to the built environment in 2005.

In alphabetical order, the Top Ten companies are ADDP Architects, Architects Team 3 Pte, CPG
Consultants Pte Ltd, DP Architects Pte Ltd, JURONG Consultants Pte Ltd, Ong & Ong Architects Pte Ltd
(see ICON image above), P & T Consultants Pte Ltd, RSP Architects Planners & Engineers Pte Ltd,
Surbana Consultants Pte Ltd and Team Design Architects Pte Ltd.

These companies received BCI Asia Top Ten 2005 Awards at an exclusive ceremony at Grand Hyatt
Singapore on 25 February. BCI Asia, in conjunction with the prestigious Architecture Asia and
Architecture China journals, has bestowed Top Ten 2005 awards to these organizations and to 70 other
companies in Asia at awards ceremonies in the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Top Ten Awards were conceived by BCI Asia to recognize the market leaders in architecture. To
provide an objective ranking, BCI Asia aggregated the value of each architectural organization’s projects
under design or breaking ground between October 2003 and September 2004. Over this period, BCI
Asia’s research staff interviewed more than 100,000 architects, developers and engineers in compiling
40,000 detailed reports on US$400 billion worth of future building and construction projects. From this
research, the leading providers of architectural and design services were determined.

While compiling the Top Ten index, BCI reported that construction works would start this year on an
estimated US$40 billion worth of building projects in Mainland China, US$11 billion in Malaysia, US$9
billion in Indonesia, US$7 billion in Thailand, US$5 billion in Hong Kong, US$5 billion in Vietnam, US$4
billion in the Philippines and US$2 billion in Singapore. These estimates exclude the cost of infrastructure

BCI Asia's Chairman, Dr. Matthias Krups, said: "BCI Asia Top Ten 2005 Awards are the market's stamp
of approval for architectural firms providing services in Asia. There are today many awards that recognize
architecture in its artistic, aesthetic or even economic manifestation. However, when it comes to
identifying those firms that most consistently and broadly meet or exceed their clients' expectations, there
has been, so far, no reliable measure. The Top Ten 2005 Awards intend to fill that void. They provide an
objective measure for the best of the best in architecture in Asia.

“BCI Asia Top Ten 2005 recognizes the greatest architectural firms in eight key markets of Asia.
Developers and others procuring architectural services need look no further to ascertain the top players in
their market," said Dr Krups.
When the winning 80 architectural organizations received their BCI Asia Top Ten 2005 Awards, Patron's
Awards, by world-leading suppliers to the building industry, were also bestowed upon the organizations
that excelled in the use of the patron's particular building technology.

At today’s ceremony, an Autodesk Design Excellence Award 2005 was bestowed to CPG Consultants Pte
Ltd, a Schindler Vertical Transportation in Architecture Award 2005 Schindler was bestowed to DP
Architects Pte Ltd, a Nippon Paint Colour Design Award 2005 was awarded to RSP Architects Planners
& Engineers (Pte) Ltd, a Philips Architectural Lighting Award 2005 was bestowed to ECP Architects
International as well as AUP Consultants and a Hansgrohe Design Achievement Award 2005 was
bestowed to DP Architects Pte Ltd.

Dickon Purvis of Jardine Schindler Group said, “It seemed only right to us at Schindler that a lift and
escalator company should be one of the main sponsors of the BCI Top Ten Awards for 2005. We are also
especially pleased that this award should be going to DP Architects Pte Ltd., an architectural practice that
clearly embodies the highest values of creativity and design in both commercial and residential buildings.

“Since our lifts and escalators are not only infrastructure products for the building, but also features that
have a considerable aesthetic impact over and above their functionality, we naturally spend a good deal
of our time working together with architects such as DP Architects Pte Ltd. That’s why we’re more than
happy to support a programme that honours excellence in design: because the better the design, the
better we can contribute to its success,” he said.
