Other methods
There are an infinite variety of other ways to promote your website. From simple things such as adding your Internet address to the signature file of your emails, publishing it on your business cards and letterheads, to twittering about it. You could also send out press releases very inexpensively using services such as PRWeb.com. If you plan to record your own podcast, which I hope you will do, you can also submit your podcasts for FREE to dozens of podcast directories including iTunes – then within your podcasts you can invite your listeners back to your site. Promoting your website does not need to be difficult. With so many different methods available to attract visitors, you can be building your own traffic in no time at all.

Q. How do I build repeat traffic?
Ryan Allis, the co-founder of iContact.com, one of the leading email marketing companies, once indicated that a full 70% of the visitors that land on your site will never return unless you have some mechanism in place to invite them back to the site. This is what building repeat traffic is about; bringing the same visitors back to your site over and over and over again. There’s really no point in building a website where a visitor will only visit your site once and never again. There’s no longevity in that and you would find it very difficult to create a sustainable business because your focus will always be on attracting new visitors. With just a little bit of careful planning you can always come up with ways to invite your visitors back to your website. We’re going to consider three of these ways: 1. Newsletters are the most popular way to bring visitors back to your site. I send a weekly newsletter to all of the subscribers of my kit car website which gives them links back to various videos, chat forum threads, articles, photos and more. All things that they are really interested in. This newsletter arrives in their email inbox each week without fail and it inevitably brings a flurry of activity back to the website.

Newsletters are easy to set up with many inexpensive tools available to help you, such as FeedBlitz.com, AWeber.com and iContact.com. 2. The three websites mentioned above also provide you with the ability to develop a scheduled series of emails that will be sent to your subscribers automatically on a schedule that you’ve set up in advance. These scheduled emails are known as autoresponders. For example, my wife Arlene utilizes autoresponders on her website epilepsymoms.com. She has a series of fifty-two emails that she’s written over time that are sent to her members, one per week, for the period of a year. These little emails contain a multitude of different information such as diet tips for kids dealing with epilepsy, links to important news articles that have come out in the media, links to discussions that are going on in the chat forum and much, much more. Each time someone subscribes to her list, they will be sent every week without fail, a gentle, little reminder to return to her site. 3. On my hobby site KitCarConnection.com I have just added a chat forum that allows my members to interact with each other. Each time something is posted in this chat forum an email is automatically sent to everybody who is involved in that conversation, inviting them back to continue with their discussion. This continually brings my visitors back to the site over and over and over again. Utilizing these methods of bringing back the visitors to your site will help to ensure the longevity and continued success of your online business. Action Item It's Coffee Talk time again.
