blessings of 2010. Beloved, 2010 was a remarkable year for the ministry of Trinity United Church

Sankofa Moments
As a church,
• We served 3,750 families during the Thanksgiving Season with Operation Share.
• We kicked off our T.W.l.S.T.ED. worship service for children and youth and witnessed
over 500 young people attend this youth-centered worship experience.

PASTOR EMERITUS
• Our Prison Ministry sponsored a community-wide forum on incarceration, featuring
(1972 - 2008)
Attorney Michelle Alexander, author of the book, "The New Jim Crow." This forum
REV. REUBEN A. SHEA RES 11 attracted over 300 community residents, including an entire classroom of young men from
(1971 - 1972)
the Urban Prep Academy.
REV. WILLIE J. JAMERSON • This past year we launched our first scholarship program for youth from Lowden Homes.
(1966 - 1971)
The program was funded through the Community Comedy Extravaganza, hosted by
REV. KENNETH B. SMITH Jonathan Slocumb. Two Lowden Homes students received scholarships totaring $3,000.
FOUNDING PASTOR
• The Arts Ministry participated in their first annual concert. This concert highlighted the gifts
(1961·1966)
and talents within our Dance, Drill, Mime and Drama ministries.
• Our annual Scholarship Sunday provided $59,750.00 for 54 students.
• We awarded $48,000 in Theological Reimbursement Scholarships
• Through Next l.:evel Giving, we completed a $250,000 classroom expansion for the
Kwame Nkrumah Academy and provided maintenance and development for the 95th &
Cottage Grove project.
• Our Web presence continues to grow with the addition of the Trinity Prayer blog and Daily
Devotional website.
• As a church, you provided over $180,000 for those suffering in Haiti. This was the largest
single donation made within the UCC denomination.

and the wider community because of your support. I take this moment to thank you for blessing
our-church, loving this ministry and serving our God. God has greater things in store for us and we
look with tip-toe anticipation toward the wonders waiting for us in 2011, our year of Jubilee .
